  • Great student trumpet
Awesome price compared to Carlton music store. I assumed trumpets we’re super expensive. So when I did decide to look I felt the price of this was too good to be true. My son loves his new trumpet and it feels an sounds just as good as the music stored instrument. The quality is great definitely a good find.
  • Love it – Quality and Great Price!
The case, the gloves, the cleaning cloth, the trumpet- awesome! It’s my first one and I love it. It works great and sounds great. And the price is so reasonable!!
  • Beginners trumpet
This trumpet is a very good instrument for beginners, it allows for good sound quality a perfect light case for them.
  • Good quality
Bought for my child as their prior trumpet broke. Once received the case looked small so we questioned the size of the trumpet, however it is a full size trumpet. While inspecting the try the middle key(button) was not moving as it should, after a couple of times of pushing it finally worked. Otherwise a great instrument for a decent price.
  • Great trumpet
Didn’t know what to expect, but after reading other reviews, I decided to take a chance on this trumpet. Definitely a great horn for beginners, especially for the price. Good tone and sound. Nice case and lots of accessories included. Very nice looking instrument.
  • 10/10
I picked a trumpet for instrumental music in school. I LOVE blowing into this instrument. I love how good quality it was and how loud it sounded like.
  • Good product
My son plays on it everyday. Good quality
  • We’re happy with Eastar ETR-380N Trumpet Standard Bb Nickel Trumpet. Great case too.
They say not to buy a trumpet over the internet but we’ve bought a trumpet online through amazon on two separate occasions and have not been disappointed. The first time was when my son first started playing the trumpet in 4th grade. We weren’t sure how far he’d go with the instrument and renting at $35/month didn’t make sense when you can buy one for $100. So we bought one for $100 through Amazon and it served him well for 4 years (last few months he complained about the valves sticking, etc) making it $25/year “rental”, a steal! He managed to play lead trumpet in middle school so I don’t think it set him back much. His trumpet tutor thought the trumpet was just fine. After 4 years it broke down and it was time to purchase a better quality trumpet. We ended up buying a professional trumpet costing $3K through his private trumpet teacher. He gets comments on it from people in the know about trumpets. But now, he is starting marching band and there is no way we want him to be taking that pricey trumpet to set on concrete and grass, etc. while doing exercises. So I came online and looked for the trumpet be bought long ago but it was no longer sold or no longer sold for the price. After looking around I saw this one and decided to purchase it. Price was good. Only $29 more than his previous online trumpet 4-5 years ago. I know now not to be a price snob and go for $200 when $129 will do.We got it a couple weeks ago and he has been happy with it. It is not as smooth as his high end one in that he has to take care how he presses the valves whereas he can be sloppy with the pricey one. But it sounds really good and looks good and the price spent on it means I don’t worry that he will ding it or scrape it a bit out on the field – although of course I hope he still takes care of it no matter what price range.I am no expert in appraising trumpet quality but this has been our experience so far.

What Customers Say:

  • It works
In my clarinet case, I have all the pieces I need to play and take care of my instrument. I have the bell, which is the flared bottom piece, the lower joint with most of the keys, the upper joint with the other keys, the barrel that connects the upper joint to the mouthpiece, and the mouthpiece itself where I put the reed. The reed is a thin wooden piece that vibrates on the mouthpiece to make sound, and I hold it in place with the ligature, which is a metal or fabric band that I make sure is snug but not too tight. I also have a mouthpiece cap to protect the reed when I’m not playing, and some cork grease to help me put the pieces together smoothly. For cleaning, I have a fluffy swab on a rod to pull through the clarinet to remove moisture and a small brush or rod to clean the mouthpiece. Having all these pieces and tools in my case helps me play, protect my clarinet, and keep it in good condition. I’m gonna use it for band recommend if you need one. I think the build quality of my clarinet is really good. The pieces fit together snugly, and the keys feel solid and move smoothly without sticking. The corks on the joints make it easy to assemble the clarinet without forcing anything, and the mouthpiece feels sturdy and well-made. Even the reed and ligature feel like they were made to last, and the case keeps everything protected so nothing gets damaged. Overall, I feel like my clarinet is built strong enough to handle regular use, and it makes me feel confident when I play because I know it won’t break easily. I was feeling a little nervous because I was about to review my clarinet, but I realized it actually works really well. The clarinet functions just like it’s supposed to — the keys move smoothly, the reed vibrates properly, and I can get sound easily when I blow with steady air. Everything fits together perfectly, from the bell to the mouthpiece, and the corks make assembly simple. Even though I was nervous at first, I felt proud because I could play it and it responded exactly how I expected. Knowing that it functions well made me feel more confident about playing and taking care of it. The price of the money for it was worth it.
  • First time instrument user
The quality of the instrument was great, the size was perfect, and the value for the instrument was right on point. The tone was perfect and my granddaughter loves it. This is her first year in band and the instructor was very impressed and pleased with it. The functionality was just right.
  • Super nice clarinet!
I was worried buying a clarinet on Amazon. I had never owned one, but my niece had to have one for band. The clarinet was packed gently, in a nice box. It had almost everything she needed to start. One year later she still plays in the band, loud and proud.
  • Bona-fide Instrument… Depending…
First of all, it’s difficult to rate this “instrument” in terms of stars. I’m an experienced clarinetist and rate it 4 stars because it is an exceptional value, and an experienced clarinetist will be able to play this well and will also appreciate the price point.I understand the logic for a beginner who wants to try out a cheap instrument to see if they’ll like learning it, but honestly, this instrument is probably too difficult for a beginner to play. An experienced player will know how to make adjustments to embouchure and instrument care in order to get it to play well. If you play another wind instrument and are considering this one, keep this in mind. So this review is for the experienced player, and this clarinet is well suited for its purpose. The instrument does play in tune. You must use the proper barrel that it comes with. Use the shorter barrel for B-flat and the longer one for A. Be prepared to use all the cork grease and more the first time you assemble the instrument. All new clarinets require this, but this one especially. You’ll have to grease, insert a bit, take it out, grease some more, reinsert, etc… until all the joints are flush. You will have to use pressure, but don’t force it. Forget the included reeds. You can use Rico Royals or better for a major difference in tone and playability. Reeds above 2.5 don’t work well with the included mouthpiece. You can use your own mouthpiece of course, and this will make the instrument sound demonstrably better, but then you won’t have a cool colored mouthpiece (unless you opted for the black model in which case this is be a good option.) I bought the pink model and will keep the pink mouthpiece because it looks cool, and it plays well enough. As someone mentioned in a previous review, the instrumental does get easier to play the more it is used. It needs about a five minute warm-up every time it is played before it starts to become reasonably playable. Be patient with this.I am calling this a bona-fide instrument because it does actually play music and you can pretty much include yourself as a clarinetist in most situations. You’ll have to apply some extra effort to obtain a respectable tone, but if you already play, you’ll be able to do this. Again, using your own mouthpiece and reeds will greatly improve this instrument if the color is not an issue for you.We bought this instrument and other similar colorful instruments to create a fun colorful ensemble. It’s a lot of fun.
  • Its really awesome
I absolutely love this Glory GLY-PBK professional ebony clarinet! My daughter needed it for her school band, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The sound quality is rich and clear, and it looks beautiful. It came with 10 reeds, which was a great bonus, and everything was well packaged. My daughter enjoys playing it every day — we’re both very happy with this purchase!
  • Loving this product

  • Incomprehensible how such an inexpensive instrument could be soooo good!
My mind is blown. I’ve played flute practically my whole life. I wanted a practice instrument that I could leave at my city condo so I didn’t have to keep carrying my Yamaha with me. I saw this and couldn’t believe the price. But I really don’t have hundreds to spend on another instrument that will just be used in my practice room. I thought the colors would just be cool. When I received it and took the case out of the box, I looked at the cheap, soft-sided case and, well, I wasn’t expecting much. Well I was in for a shock. I put it together and just stared at it. The metallic blue body and brightly polished gold-colored keys were dazzling. Very cool indeed. Now for the real test. I put it to my lips and ran two octaves of scales up and down a few times. Wow. Crystal clear, smooth tone, excellent, effortless vibrato. The pads all seal tightly with the lightest of touch. The keys all work flawlessly. I expected my finger’s muscle memory to have a problem with the return spring tension. Not so. Closing my eyes, I can’t tell the difference between this little mind-blower and $3000 Yamaha.I played a little Irish ditty. I played a little Bach, a little jazz and a little Jethro Tull. I certainly found a good practice instrument! If you have a good ear, especially that of an experienced flutist, the difference in sound between a really fine instrument and this is very distinguishable.Bottom line… Need a really decent, inexpensive practice instrument? Look no further. Have a child interested in learning the flute? Here you go! For incredibly minimal investment, you could start your child down a path that can provide a lifetime of enrichment. Or, did you play flute in high school or college and just want to see if you have any of that talent and skill left? Here you go! Get one and some music and go play in the basement. You’ll be surprised how wonderful it feels to have one of these lovely instruments in your hands and how genuinely fine the sound is.
  • Quality instrument without breaking the bank!
Obviously you’re not going to get the quality of a Gemeinhardt at this price but this is a solid beginner instrument! Sound quality and durability was excellent. I played consistently for 8 years and wanted to get back into playing again for fun, my flute from that time is ready for retirement and I didn’t want to spend hundreds if not thousands on another one. This hit the highest of notes and lowest of notes with ease, sounds amazing. It functions extremely well for its price point! The accessories with it are perfect for maintenance as well and comes in a nice case to get you by. I was very satisfied for what I got! Definitely recommend if you’re just getting into playing or if you want to pick it back up again!
  • Excellent flute at an excellent price!
I am a professional flutist and was looking for an inexpensive beginner flute to recommend to beginner students. I tried it out and it plays in tune, has a great tone, and looks beautiful. I was surprised by the quality of the flute for the price. This is not the cheap-o quality flute here. It comes with the cleaning kit which is exactly what every flute and flute student needs, the case is decent and it comes with a shoulder strap too.I purchased this flute from this seller for $69.99 in May 2015, the price has gone up a little bit since then. Considering it is a flute under $100 it is a fantastic deal.If you are looking at this flute – you’ll see that it has an offset G and a C foot. This means that the Key named G for the left hand ring finger is a little distance away from the flute instead of inline with the rest of the keys. This is a BONUS feature, as the inline G is tough to reach especially for beginners. I have the offset on all my flutes both Intermediate, and Professional. This is a nice extra bonus for this student flute. The other feature of this flute is the C foot. There are only 2 options here, either a B foot or a C foot. C foot is standard on student flutes. It basically means that the lowest note this flute will play is low C, aka middle C on a piano. This is an appropriate choice when you consider the music that the beginner flutist will learn for the first 3-4 years of playing will not go any lower than this C. The B foot makes it possible to play the low B, one note below C, aka one note below middle C on the piano. The low B note is commonly found in more Advanced levels of music. I know other professional flutists that still have opted to keep the C foot, and not use the B foot.I don’t know how long it will stand up to a beginner flutist’s tendencies to be rough (dropping, banging it into a music stand), but honestly for the price it is far better than renting, and better than a school-rented instrument. If handled with clean hands, clean mouths so there is no sticky spit put into the flute, gets cleaned with the provided swab-cloth, and fingerprints rubbed off with the cleaning cloth each time the instrument is used it could last for many years before needing a tune-up at the repair shop.
  • Surprisingly good quality!
Bought this flute to use while I waited for my regular flute to be repaired. I wasn’t expecting much at this price, but I was pleasantly surprised! This flute has a beautiful clear tone, and the action of the keys is smooth and quiet (no clicking or sticking). Overall, it’s a joy to play! Great value!
  • Extremely good flute for beginners at a bargain price
Extremely good flute for beginners at a bargain price. I got this for my kid a couple of years ago. It only had one small piece break after about a year of play that some super glue took care of. I told my kid that if they made it work and stuck with it, I’d upgrade it. After two years of playing with it, they used this cheap flute to make the band team and made it sound good for how cheap it is.

  • Good for beginners
This instrument is great for first time players. It’s a good price, sturdy, and sounds great. I like the fact it came with a case and cleaning supplies.
  • Perfect Gift for My Son!
I bought this trumpet for my son, and he absolutely loves it! The sound is clear and bright, and it’s perfect for beginners. It came well-packaged and ready to play right out of the box. Seeing how excited he is to practice every day makes this purchase totally worth it!
  • Great value and the right quality for a beginner
Bought this for my 12 year old grandson who plays the trombone but wanted to also play the trumpet. Came with everything he needed and he specified the B flat…he loves it.
  • Great quality
This is a great quality product for such a cheap price and not only is it great in quality but it looks fantastic in appearance
  • Oil them Valves!
I have used the Glory trumpet for home practice and at a concert band rehearsal and can say I am pleased. The tuning slides were all well greased and moved easily, however the valves needed a lot of TLC. Trumpet valve oil was not included in the kit so plan on getting a quality oil like “Blue Juice.” If you are not familiar with how to clean and oil trumpet valves there are videos online that will help or find any experienced trumpet player who can show you. After a week of playing and re-oiling, the valves are finally how I like them. Overall, I found the tone of the trumpet pretty good but a little brighter than my other horn. Intonation is acceptable. The lacquer finish is generally good with a few hazy areas under the tuning slides. The case is small, lightweight and will probably fit in most student lockers. There isn’t room in the case for anything extra and the side pocket is pretty much useless. I covered up the tacky logo on the case with fabric tape.
  • Nice
    Works well. Daughter loves it.
  • Do Not Buy
Worked but keys got stuck then no longer would work. Found out others from the school got similar ones and they all broke or stopped working. Will not buy again.
  • Ok horn for beginners. Beautiful finish. Not great intonation.
I play lead in a big band and our band leader thought it would be a fun idea to get green horns for our St. Patrick’s day gig. So we went and found these. Cheap enough price considering we were only going to use it once (more than likely). I want to start off by saying that the horn is a nice horn. The green lacquer is well done. Really nice color. Playing wise it truly isn’t terrible. The sound it produces is nice. It’s pretty bright. Where it gets rough is intonation. Especially in the upper register. Now, for a beginner this probably wouldn’t be a problem. So if your child (or you) want to dabble in trumpet without dishing $500+ for a “good” beginner horn then give it a shot. If you are a seasoned player you may have fun with it once and be done with it.

What Customers Say:

  • Better than even more expensive violins. Highly recommended!
There is a lot to like about this violin package. I highly recommend it to anyone, really. Not only great for beginners, but it’s also just fine for anyone. I am a working musician (well, until all gigs got canceled…), and I can already see this becoming my “daily driver.”It is too easy for a thief to steal your expensive violin; so it really gives peace of mind, to know that if the thief strikes, you are only out $90! Even so, this violin sounds good enough that you can use this for a gig, and you don’t need to risk taking an expensive instrument out to a bar or club where it could be damaged or stolen.FINISH:I’ll start with the finish. I love the finish on this violin. Eastar has adopted a thin matte finish (in contrast to the thick , shiney plasticky finish which is found on most violins of this price range. This finish will allow the wood of the instrument to breathe naturally, and the tone of the instrument should increase with time just like any fine instrument.BRIDGES:I received 2 bridges with my violin, and both of them were perfectly cut to match the violin. This is an important point, because it is expensive to get a violin maker to cut a bridge for your violin, but unless the bridge is perfectly fitted, then you will never get a true tone from the instrument. My bridges were fitted with a slight slant to the feet. this is a new style of bridge fitting which will keep the bridge from warping over time, and it also increases the surface area of the bridge where it touches the top of the violin. This can give a fuller tone. I was impressed to see this.TONE:As for the tone of the violin, itself. It has a soft tone which ***doesn’t try to be a stradivarius***! In my opinion this is a feature. Too many cheap violins try to provide brilliant, loud projections as you would find with a fine, italian solo violin… but the end of the day, they are just loud.Instead, Eastar has done their own thing with this violin, and they are to be commended for that! This violin will blend well with other instruments, and it will also make it easy for the player to explore soft, subtle tones, but it will still play loud when you push it. It will be a great violin for playing in a chamber ensemble or for playing in a group masterclass with other students. Also I have to mention that harmonics ring true on this violin all the way up the fingerboard. Even the highest harmonics and false harmonics ring just as they should. This is unprecedented for a violin which only costs $90!STRINGS:The strings included on the violin are pretty darn good. Normally, strings on a cheap instrument are trash, but these are very serviceable. The tone is nice and even and the strings hold their pitch pretty well (i’ve only had the violin for 2 days, so i don’t know how long the strings will last). The midrange sounds good, as do the highs. (the E string is great!)I would like a little bit more oomph from the lows, but the tone is very balanced overall. I am used to playing with strings which are a bit thicker; so that is probably the reason I feel this way.Strings are one of the most noticeable upgrades for a violin. I have no doubt that some Thomastik Dominants would sound excellent on this violin. Maybe even try some gut strings or a hybrid gut/synthetic blend, if you are looking for a more unique tone.ROSIN:I actually LOVE the rosin that came with this violin. I was totally amazed when I applied it, and i got a good tone. I’ve been using Anton Breton rosin, recently, and the rosin that came with this violin is BETTER, i think. In fact, i would say that it is very similar to Pirastro Goldflex rosin in the tone that it produces. It is a high dust variety of rosin, though. So you will want to have a clean, dry, oil and lint free cloth, and take care to wipe the strings and the body of the violin after playing. Also, you may want to take care not to over-rosin the bow, because it would be easy to do with this rosin. (although you could probably make a cool looking dust cloud, while playing, if that’s yer thing! :D)Also, be careful not to expose the cake of rosin to high temperatures (over 80 degrees F) or direct sunlight. It has been my experience that light-colored rosin will quickly develop a scratchy tone if exposed to heat or light. You won’t be able to tell a difference by looking at the rosin, but your ears can tell. If this happens to your rosin, replace it immediately, and you will be much happier.TUNING PEGS:The tuning pegs seem to fit quite well, and they seem to grip without sticking right away. just be sure to push in while tightening or loosening them. I had no trouble tuning the violin with the pegs.FINE TUNERS:I have mixed feelings about the fine tuners. On the one hand, I love the range and travel, and love how big and easy to grip the tuning knobs are. I feel like they give you just the right amount of pitch adjustment for each turn. What i DON’T like about the fine tuners is the large metal feet on the underside. It would be easy to accidently over-loosen a fine tuner and damage the top of the instrument. Please be very careful about this. Also, if something were to strike the instrument from above, or if the bridge were to snap or fall over, the fine tuners will damage the top of the instrument.I will probably replace the fine tuning mechanism with one that is curvier on the bottom, and made of softer material.SHOULDER REST:I hate shoulder rests. i don’t use them, but this one looks pretty decent. I feel like it’s better to place the violin directly on your shoulder; so that you can directly feel the vibration of the violin.CHIN REST:The chin rest is very nice and very comfortable. Just like shoulder rests, i actually prefer not to use a chin rest so that i can feel the vibrations directly while playing. But i will probably leave this one on until it falls off, and then i probably won’t bother putting it back on. (but i’m weird)TUNER:The tuner that came with this is very simple, clip on tuner. I learned how to tune a violin by ear (and all violinists need this skill), but it can be nice to have a tuner, especially for initial tuning, or if the violin goes way out of tune, or if you are in a loud bar, etc…This is a Donner branded tuner. (Donner and Eastar are like sister companies). It works great for tuning the violin. I have another, different Donner tuner, and it doesn’t work well for tuning a violin; so, i was glad this one worked just fine. When the string is on pitch, the entire screen lights up, so it is very easy to tell when you have the correct pitch… even if the lighting isn’t good where you are.2 things which could be improved about the tuner:1. it uses non-rechargeable battery (like the ones that go in a key-FOB for your car). It would be better if it had a rechargeable battery and a micro USB charging cable (my other Donner tuner has this)2. the pitch of ‘A’ is not adjustable from 440 Hz. (my other Donner tuner also has this feature). It is fun to experiment with alternate tunings, and you can’t do that with this tuner. Also, some orchestral music may sometimes be written with alternate tunings specified. And of course, any good flat-earther or dirty hippie will tell you that mother Gaia cries in agony any time an musical instrument is tuned to anything other than A == 432 Hz.I’m just sayin.THE BOW:Eastar has adopted a very interesting design with the bow, which i have never seen before. The end of the bow (where you hold it) is octagonal which provides a nice grip, but the rest of the bow is round in shape. i’ve never seen this. Also, the frog of the bow is BEAUTIFUL.the bow is nice and balanced in weight, and it should be sufficient for most playing styles.I like to keep a Shar Fusion bow in my case, also (for when i want something a bit bouncier).EASTAR:As i mentioned before, Eastar and Donner seem to be the same (or at least sister) companies. In fact, that’s how i found out about this violin. I was looking for a violin, and i was familiar with instruments and other equipment made by Donner, and I have constantly been amazed by the quality and pricepoint of Donner equipment.Eastar has been producing violins for a while, but they just recently began shipping them to the US. I asked them to notify me when they began shipping violins to the US, and they did. I was very curious to see how well they compared to both Donner equipment and other cheap violins. The violin can be a tricky instrument to ship overseas and have it arrive in playable condition. It seems that these violins are being produced in ShenZhen, China, and then Eastar has contracted or setup a facility in Kentucky, USA, to setup and ship the violins to the customer. So far they are doing a great job!COMPARED TO MODERN INEXPENSIVE CHINESE VIOLINS:I have a Mendini violin, which cost twice as much, and I have owned Cremona violins that were 2 to 3 times more expensive, and this one is easily better than all of those.COMPARED TO OTHER VIOLINS:Every other violin I have owned was at least 100 years old; so, it is very difficult to directly compare an old instrument and a new instrument. I feel like this violin is roughly comparable to the Sears-Roebuck “Jacobus Stainer” style violins which were produced in the late 1800s in factories in Austria/Germany. Those violins were inexpensive when produced, and today they will fetch a price anywhere from $300 to $2000 depending on the specific model, and how well it has been maintained, modified, or upgraded. This violin sounds different from those (as i mentioned, Eastar has adopted a unique style rather than just attempting to copy Stradivarius or Stainer), but it’s basically the modern equivalent of those. This is a great way to spend $90!I will post pictures and videos soon!
  • Great beginner instrument
This is a good beginner violin. It has held up well. It is a little hard to use the tuning pegs. I put peg paste on them and they were better. I upgraded the bow, strings, and rosin along the way, which improved the sound. The E string is a little higher above the fingerboard than it should be but that might just be my violin. I did not like the shoulder rest, which prompted me to play without one, which I prefer. I have since upgraded to a high quality violin. This Eastar violin seems to be one of the better beginner violins and definitely worth the money.
  • Wonderful sound!
I love my Eastar violin. People get envious of this voilin when I use it. My violin tutor says it’s a concert violin even though it’s just for beginners. One major issue I have experienced is that mould grows on the violin when it’s protected in the case for some time. So, I have to clean it thoroughly and reset else the string snaps and the tuning pegs won’t turn well. This happended during the wet season in my country when it rains. I changed the storage location to ensure that it’s where sunlight can reach while it’s in the case. I’ll keep a close watch next year when it rains.
  • No Refund Received for Returned Defective Violin!
I received a defective violin sold by, “Amazon Resale”, which was described as in good condition. I was unable to tune the strings because the tuner was defective, so I returned the violin to Amazon, but they never issued me a refund because they said they could not locate the return. My UPS tracking number confirmed that Amazon indeed received my return. They seem to misplace returned merchandise and sometimes they don’t process refunds. I never got my refund for this defective violin that I returned via UPS. Buyer beware!
  • Beautiful violin for a great price! Buy this one!
My arm is killing me but wow! I was so anxious to get this violin this morning! And it was NOT a disappointment! I haven’t been able to put it down! It’s been roughly fifteen years since I’ve played and I just had an itch to pick it up again. I didn’t want to spend a fortune in case I didn’t find the time to play regularly.I initially thought I would go with this violin when searching the first time on amazon. However, I chose to look around and read many many reviews on all the cheaper priced violins. After waiting and reviewing for several weeks, I came to the conclusion that for the price, this one seemed to have the best reviews and be of higher quality than others in the same price range. And my first instinct was right! 🙂 This beautiful violin and setup is a wonderful deal! The violin came well packaged. The finish on the violin is beautiful, just as pictured! The bridge was NOT on it when I opened it. Strings were loose but having read all the reviews I was expecting this. I knew where to place the bridge and then I did as people suggested and started by slowly tightening the middle two strings, then the outer two, to avoid the bridge shifting.I pushed the pegs in as I tightened and I did not have any major slippage with them, they all held fine. I played around with tuning it, knowing since the strings are new it probably will take a bit to get it right, but when I came back to it after lunch, I gave it another go at tuning, and got all the strings sounding correct. Let me say the tuner was a plus as I have one for my guitar, but the one included has a setting just for violin. I’m also happy about the shoulder rest. I used to have a really nice one and will probably order a better one eventually but just for getting started the one included is an awesome bonus! The rosin I roughed up, and after about twenty to thirty passes had the bow nicely rosined and ready to go. I do plan to order a nicer bow but for the money this one is great, in perfect condition and plays nicely, though I’m years out of practice so someone more experienced might know more about the balance of it.I plan to get better quality strings to put on the violin in the near future but for now I’m happy with the ones included and think the violin sounds great!!!! (There are extra strings and an extra bridge in the nice and well padded violin case)I have only one tiny minor complaint and that is that it can be hard to keep the bow from hitting the G string when attempting to play the D string. I did notice some comments about that in the reviews but the longer I played today the better I got at keeping that to a minimum so I’m not sure if it’s the violin or just my rusty playing skills. The inlayed spots on the neck of the violin made finding the correct finger positions SO easy, though I noticed after about twenty minutes of playing that my ear could tell when my fingers weren’t in the proper position. But for a complete beginner, this is extremely helpful and again cuts out the need for extra purchases. This violin gets a ten out of ten from me!IF YOU ARE NEW to playing violin, please remember it takes time to break an instrument in. The strings have to stretch some and so you may struggle with the tuning process or have to retune often. If you have patience and are willing to learn about your instrument then you should buy this one with confidence! From all appearances, it’s a well made, handsome instrument and I am so excited that it arrived as quickly as it did!Gotta go… it’s calling me! 😉 Happy fiddlin’!!Edit: Have had this beautiful instrument for a week and was so impressed that it has stayed in tune after that just those multiple adjustments on day of arrival. Every time I get it out to play I may have to give the fine tuners a slight turn but despite days of playing, none of the legs have slipped and it’s stayed in tune. I’m still very pleased and so thankful I purchased this violin. Will update if anything changes but as of right now I have no complaints. … except maybe the bow but I’m hoping to update it soon!

Book was in great condition. No folds or anything. Was the right book I needed
  • Fingers Crossed
My son has played violin this year, but we are moving to a district without an orchestra program. He therefore has to switch instruments. I found out that this is the book they use to start students on trumpet so I’m hoping he can get a little bit under his belt before starting band in the fall. The book does a good job showing correct finger placement, and seems to go slow enough to learn notes and technique properly before moving on. I also like the fact it has an online component. We haven’t tried it yet, but I think it will come in handy later in the book.

What Customers Say:

  • Finally a sax, that sounds like one!
Ok,In my past, I’ve purchased a good 5 or 6 chinese saxophones, but unfortunately none really sounded like a real sax. Some even sounded like a trumpet. Some were ok. Like the tenors were more sax sounding than the altos, and the altos were better than the sopranos. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised with my Glory alto sax!No wonder it’s rated number 2 in the list of best budget saxes of 2016! Number 1 was a sax more than 4x more expensive. It’s definitely better than the 25% more expensive Mendini sax I own!It just sounds more like a sax, and the notes are more dead on than with the mendini, which in octave 2 gets more than a quarter note off scale. The instrument is beautiful (I got the plain black with golden keys), it’s heavy, but not too heavy (mendini was heavier); it sounds great, and is easy to play. The provided mouthpiece is a practice mouthpiece, it doesn’t go very loud.I paired it with a $20 Yamaha 4c mouthpiece, and it was a tad louder in the mid tones. It also more easily could play the lower notes. With the stock mouthpiece low D and C were hard to impossible to play. With the Yamaha mouthpiece, only the low C.I definitely will go for a better mouthpiece soon!I think mine needs to be set up, as the 4 lowest notes are really hard to play. The neck strap like usual needs replacement. I wonder why in this day and age they would still provide a non-neoprene padded strap for anything heavier than a soprano.Though the neck strap comes to good use for my EWI, which I have lost the strap for.My impression of the Glory sax lineup, is that in essence, they’re all the same saxes, with as difference that there is the basic sax, the upgraded one (with a design in the bell and on the body), and the vintage saxes, with eye for detail on the paint and body designs. But all should emit about the same sound quality.Since for me this was a budget conscious choice, I went with the base model, and only paid $10 more for the black version with the golden keys. The reed on the sax was a bit of poor quality and chipped, so I have ordered synthetic reeds (bamboo/plastic mix, not regular plastic) for this sax.Overall I would say for beginners there is no better bargain out there to start out with. Whether you play in class, or play in a band, this sax is up for the task of the beginner and intermediate.Professionals too, can purchase one of these funky color saxes, and enjoy a decent sax sound. This sax probably doesn’t have the reliability or sound quality of a $2k+ sax, and parts may be harder to find, but really, at $300, you just buy yourself another sax; which is what one repair with parts on a $2k sax easily cost anyway! So for the beginner and intermediate this is a great buy. For the pros, (aka, anyone with 2+ years of experience playing in bands) it’s a nice gadget as tertiary sax, to take to sketchy gigs, or in places were sound quality matter less over looks!I would definitely buy a Glory sax again, it’s the first Chinese sax, I would use in live settings! It sounds great!
  • Solid for the money.
I played from middle school until senior year. Im in my 30s now, and didn’t play until I bought this horn to get my feet wet. My old horn was a $2,500 Yamaha. Not sure what model, but it was nice, and honestly the tone of this instrument sounds fine comparatively. My only complaints are; the cork pieces that support the keys are not cut precisely, the pads are inexpensive and will stick if you don’t dry them after playing, and the c# sounds a tad flat.I’ve gotta say though, after I got my embouchure back into playing shape, and my muscle memory came back in my fingers this cheap sax really started playing nicely for me. If you put a fat reed (I’m playing a 3 now) on a decent mouthpiece (using a Selmer C* for now) I believe this Alto will provide a tone that’s indistinguishable from a superior horn to the untrained ear. Chinese assembly line saxophones have really come a long way since I was a kid. The technology is there to make these horn serious competitors to other entry level instruments. The fact that they look awesome is a huge plus too. I got the antique finish on mine. It feels and looks like a very unique and quality horn. I periodically jam with some friends and when I upgrade I plan on taking this horn with me to gigs. If something happens it’s inexpensive enough that replacement won’t break the bank.Don’t bother with the mouth piece this thing comes with though. I could hardly get the one that came with mine to play. It’s worth it to do some research and buy a quality mouth piece.TLDR: after playing this horn for 3 months, I think it’s a real bargain. Sounds, plays, and looks far better than I anticipated.
  • Real Jazz/Funk Musician…Great Horn, Low Price. Can’t Beat It!
I am a semi-pro musician. I play a lot of local town gigs and have my own band, about 2 or 3 a month, so I’m not some guy who is just getting back into the sax after 20 years and can’t play. I know what you’re thinking, “what kind of paid musician plays on this Chinese crap?” Here’s my assessment of this brand. This is my second Glory alto sax. The first one I got was the blue with silver keys (I love that horn). I have played the blue sax for 2 years: it is in tune, has a clear sound, and the action is great. I have not had any problems with it breaking down bigger than losing a cork or 2 and by now it has a lot of miles on it. The pads are just now starting to look a little worn, and I am overstating “a little worn”…it still plays about 99% as good as it did when it came out of the box.Now the new horn…the ENGRAVED FLOWER DESIGN-Glory High Grade Antique finish series PR4. The horn is beautiful, and just like the blue one plays near-perfect right out of the box. There is a little flutter on low C if I play below mf, but I’m gigging so no worries there! This horn is loud while still having the great, clear sound of the blue model. Every pad (EVERY pad) has a metal tone booster, so plan on playing this in a big band and not having to blow your brains out. I haven’t had much volume trouble with the blue one, but the metal tone boosters are a plus in case I don’t have a mic and am playing in a big club. Finally, the engraving is top-notch and stands out over dark silver-brush finish. Both of these saxes were obviously meticulously set up right before being shipped, something you probably can’t say about that $3000 selmer you just got! Yes, these come off an assembly line, but so far the machinery and keywork is perfect. They are near-flawless Selmer USA clones, and this new one feels a bit closer to an SA. The action feels a little faster, and the keys are slightly lower than the blue’s (not much, but noticeable). The springs are a little stiff, but I think they are the same as the blue’s and know they will break in nicely.Cost…come on. Get the 3-year accident protection. So the new horn cost me 275-ish altogether and if I drop it or if a key breaks or someone steps on it, I can cash in the protection for a new sax! Both saxes and I’m only in for about 550 and so far have not had to use the protection plan, but why not get it just in case when these amazing saxes are so cheap! One more thing, this sax came in the sporty gig bag seen (black with light-blue trim). I swapped cases on my saxes to have the gig bag match my blue sax and the straight black case match my new sax. Inside it comes with a case strap, neck strap, mouthpiece (have never tried it), some reeds, cleaning cloth, silica gel, cork grease, tweezers (!) and a flat-head screwdriver. Finally pro-level saxes for a very affordable price. Once I save a little more, I will be buying a tenor.

  • Pretty good recorder
This was great for my daughter’s 4th grade recorder music class. The case is cute, the instrument sounds, well, like a recorder, but it’s at least a better version than others I’ve heard. Good price and seems to be holding up well.
  • Very good recorder

  • Awesome recorder for kids music class
Very cute recorder purchased for my daughter for music class! Love the color and case as well. Functionality is perfect and sound quality is good, my daughter has so much fun playing. Great value for the price.
  • Perfect for kids
I bought it for my daughter’s music class at school, and I really liked it. The size is perfect, it comes apart into two pieces, and it’s very easy to handle. It also includes a little case for carrying it, which makes it super convenient. I think it’s great for kids who are just starting to learn this instrument. Highly recommended!
  • Music Class Recorder
Bought this recorder for my daughter’s music class. Alternative was to use a school issued one that they just disinfect between users and that gave me the ick. It’s a recorder intended for amateur use but its cute and has a nice case. Pros: My daughter didn’t have to mouth some other child’s saliva. Cons: I had to listen to her play it at home all the time far past the music lesson since I bought a personal one she could keep. Unfortunately and tragically, I misplaced this beauty. But the memories of being woken up at 6am to the sound of three blind mice will live forever.
