    Good movie, and IMHO worth the 20+ year wait (even if it’s now the new Frozen for sales/marketing/merchandising weirdos)…The performers are stellar, the soundtrack and rescoring is good, but the live recording/mixing makes it suffer and steals away from the performers (like Les Miserables’ fatigued 20-take shout-singing problem).Overall: a good release and looking forward to see part two.

  • Cautiously hopeful before release – after release, ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS MOVIE!!
    My expectations for this highly anticipated movie were hopefully cautious. I honestly wasn’t sure about Ariana Grande as Glinda and didn’t know anything about Cynthia Erivo, but I love the musical, so I was hopeful. I was AMAZED!! Absolutely loved the movie at the pre-release showing and laughed hard, cried even harder and just loved the music!! Honestly as a singer and lover of musicals I was concerned about changing these incredible songs too much, but the changes were minimal enough that they complimented the pieces rather than overshadow them. Ariana & Cynthia were both fantastic and completely deserving of their Oscar nominations. I was happily mistaken by my Ariana caution and am now a big Cynthia Erivo fan. After viewing the early showing I immediately pre-purchased the soundtrack and then this disc as soon as it was available. I saw the movie in the theater 3 times (which I’ve NEVER done with a movie before), but this movie had me going back to a imax super sound system theater and then again for a sing along version. So much fun!The movie is also so incredibly powerful in its timing aligned to world/national politics and the dangerously growing trend of people ‘othering’ people they perceive as different than them. Hating, belittling, and bullying people that are different from oneself is wrong and only creates pain and anguish…for everyone. Propaganda is incredibly effective and can ruin communities, countries, economies and individual lives. The show only strengthened my resolve to critically think about concepts, theories, people and all info before I believe it.The extras in this hard copy disc are so much fun and I’ve watched them all. So glad I bought the hard copy (something I’ve not done for years). Excited for Wicked: For Good coming out in November!So while writing this I’ve got a playlist on with favorite songs and now I’m ’Dancing Through Life’ & ‘Defying Gravity’!

    I went into Wicked having never read the book or seen the Broadway play, and I came out impressed. The set design was absolutely magical—whimsical, rich, and everything you’d imagine from the world of Oz. Visually, it delivers big time.Now, if you’re looking for an iconic tune like “If I Only Had a Brain” or “Ease On Down the Road” from The Wiz, you might be a little let down. The music is strong, but none of the songs really stuck in my head after the credits rolled. Still, the acting more than made up for it—solid performances across the board.I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t “woke” like I half-expected it might be. The “because I’m green” moment” made me rolled my eyes watching the commercial trailer but the line was utter is actually empowering—not like a victim. The witch, Elphaba, is a standout. She’s super likable and confident, and I found myself rooting for her the whole way through.As the movie goes on, the tone gets deeper than I anticipated. There are clear themes of false narratives, gaslighting, political manipulation—even a hint of “fake news.” It adds depth without being too heavy-handed.A few nitpicks: I wish the Munchkins were actually short like in the original Wizard of Oz. That part felt off to me. And I know it’s true to the book, but it was strange at first seeing the witch born green instead of transforming, like in the Great Powerful OZ movie. I get it, : different stories it’s in the book, Then again, fans of Halloween overlook Jamie’s disappearing timelines and Laurie Strode’s multiple versions, so I guess it’s just part of fantasy film continuity.Overall, Wicked is a fun, emotional ride with just enough sadness to tug your heart a bit—and if you’ve seen the trailer for Part 2, it looks like things tie right into Dorothy’s arrival, which is super exciting.A must-see for any Oz fan. I genuinely enjoyed it! Take a walk down the yellow brink road!

    Let me begin by saying I love this series. I have all of it on hard copies. I wasn’t sure I was going to like this movie but of course I did. I will try not to spoil it but I’ll say that I feel the trailer uses misdirection to lure you in. It isn’t what you think it’s about. Thank goodness. It was very well done. Im glad I bought it.I purchased this version because I like to have the digital copy for traveling. I’m sure there are better options but this was enough for me. Joely Richardson (Catherine Parr from The Tudors) is part of the beginning and its hilarious and messed up at the same time. Just. Wow!I had no trouble with playback. Disc was pristine.

The metal has a premium finish that doesn’t instantly fingerprint itself into oblivion, which is a win for my greasy popcorn-hands lifestyle.The inside artwork is also nice, which I always appreciate. If I’m going to open a case, I want to be greeted by something cooler than plain silver metal… and it delivers.The 4K PictureThe movie looks crispy. Details are wild — scales, foliage, everything.   • A great standalone, and fresh start for Jurassic Park
    I’ve read mixed reviews on this movie, but as a standalone in the series I absolutely love this movie! It was absolutely incredible between the the acting special effects and all the actors themselves, this was an incredibly action-packed and fun movie, and I love that it was a brand new cast as well! It made it really feel like a fresh start for the Jurassic Park franchise, and the Dynamics between the actors as their characters you can really get a feel that they had a great time making this movie. I can’t say enough good stuff about it, it’s an island of mutated dinosaur types, so don’t expect your typical dinos from the other movies. That said the action is just as good as any of the other ones and better than some, and the storyline itself was a lot of fun. Lots of Easter eggs as well for those who really like watching the original Jurassic Park, several homages two things in several of the movies as well. I really enjoyed it, if you follow my review and buy it I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did- it helps to think of it as a standalone and not a follow-up on the other movies, and that’s the best way to watch it as well.

    The is a worthy addition to the ongoing saga of the islands and beasts that will not die. The sweeping vistas of herds of titanic dinosaurs are worth the price of admission. The cast did their jobs well and carried the story along. Scarlett Johansson was not the least bit glamorous in this film and did little to enhance the scenery. In fact, she stands out to me as the most plain female lead in the business at this time. Maybe it’s just me. She’s a capable enough performer. I’m just not a fan.In fact, she did look like a female adventurer type. Not a fashion model. Maybe that’s what they were after.

    I watched Dead Reckoning for the second time the night before in order to catch up on the plot. Watched Final Reckoning last night, and well, together the two make one heck of a movie. I have a 7.1.4 (eleven channel) rig, with four powerful subwoofers and a 77-inch Samsung S90F TV installed in a proper room, and the movie used up every bit of the potential power of the group. This movie is an AV enthusiasts dream come true, especially if they have a proper TV, serious surround power, and serious subwoofer power. Better yet, the movie (and its precursor) is gripping, with Tom Cruise being his usual sensational action movie star. Very highly recommended, especially for those with decent AV rigs.

    This is the second part of the Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning. The first part was excellent with high reviews. The second part called the Final Reckoning was also an excellent movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. As the first part, the action will leave you breathless. Exciting movie and highly recommended to watch. As with all the Tom Cruise Mission Impossible movies, they are as this one was, fun to watch over and over.

    What can you say about Mission Impossible, if you are already a fan? This movie does not disappoint. A great ending to this two part series and to the Mission Impossible series with Tom Cruise, as a whole. Tom Cruise is aging and watching was sweet sorrow.That being said, the story line is not unfamiliar. End of the world is coming and the crew faces death, bad guys and political obstacles. But I will not reveal more to avoid spoiling the ending.The cast of characters is great and the movie is well made. I especially like that they go to the places where the scenes take place to lend realism.PRODUCT QUALITYAll the discs (4K, Extras and BluRay) were tested using my PS5 and they work fabulously.PARAMOUNT licensing for digital copy sucks!The digital copy code inside the case did not work with anything but my Apple TV. Paramount restricts usage and wouldn’t let me put it on Movies Anywhere. So it isn’t really a digital copy from the standpoint that I can use it on any of my streaming services except Apple. A big letdown. As I originally bought this movie using Amazon Prime (digital) and it was unable to be used on any other digital service. So thought if I got the discs with digital copy that I could use the digital copy on Movies Anywhere. But NO. So it was a paramount licensing thing. Everyone knows some services don’t work as well as others and that can be up and down depending on what hacker is attacking what company. I think I can download it to a device but not sure. Will think twice before ordering any Paramount movies disks with digital copies in the future.

    Another great MIP movie! Wonder when they will do another since only one of the team gets killed in this one, and new potential members are now available?! Of course Tom Cruise is getting older but he’s still alive after this episode, so maybe he’ll recruit a younger partner whom he’ll train. Like all great series, it’s hard when the main character(s) get too old to continue playing their roles, and either they have to script them as retiring or dying 🙁 so enjoy all the great MIP movies while they are still being made!

    While it was far from being ranked amongst the best in the series and some of the best finales ever made, I still find the movie itself to be very enjoyable. And also for those who are wondering, Paramount definitely did justice for the 4K, and Blu Ray discs by including the expanded aspect ratio for certain scenes that you’d see in a IMAX theater, and the Dolby Atmos track is great as well. It comes with 3 audio commentaries, and some behind the scene features, so (at least for me) it was worth the $25.

  • RANKIN BASS COMPLETE COLLECTION BLU RAY IS A KEEPER; WELL WORTH THE UPGRADE!
    With the Holiday season upon us once again a new Rankin Bass collection has been released. This year’s offering is a complete collection of all of the Rankin Bass Christmas themed specials. All 18 original Specials on 5 discs in a nice compact case with slipcover. The case is a hinged type case so there is no awkward stacking of discs. I never bothered buying any of these specials on Blu Ray before this set as I felt my DVD versions were on par with the first release of Blu Rays. I can say that this set is a worthy upgrade and all of the Specials featured look very good on Blu Ray.I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these specials. Naturally Rudolph got the most attention being the crown jewel of the lot and the one that put Rankin Bass on the map.The Little Drummer Boy and Frosty’s Winter Wonderland are the weakest in terms of dirt, scratches etc, but they do not look bad by any stretch. The Little Drummer Boy is a low lighted special so I assume it was hard to brighten it too much without ruining the integrity of the original design. Frosty’s Winter Wonderland has some dirt here and there, but both of these specials look better than they’ve ever looked before and should not disappoint. Bonus material I believe were carried over from past releases and can be found on the first few discs..The specials are arranged in chronological order, so that may answer some other reviewers questions why the sequels weren’t arranged on the disc featuring their original counter parts. There is a play all feature on each disc, but no matter what special you choose the disc will play the following specials in order there after. This is easily remedied by pressing menu and picking the particular special you want to see. It’s not a big deal as I very rarely watch more than two or three at a time and I will watch certain specials more often that others.The thick cardboard slipcover is sturdy and attractive. Considering many of these specials were not available on factory pressed discs; this set is a no-brainer and should not be passed up. The only thing that could be better is if it were a complete set of all of the Rankin Bass productions including many that haven’t seen an official Home Video release.Maybe we will see another set featuring the remaining Specials, TV shows and Films from the unique team of Rankin Bass who were so much a part of many of our childhoods. It’s hard to imagine Christmas without at least a few of these timeless specials and this set is keeper for sure.

    If you’re a Boomer or Gen X-er, you will remember these cartoons as a child. They used to be broadcast every Christmas on TV. I understand a lot of them are being streamed, so if you don’t subscribe to that streaming service, you’ll miss what was a wonderful holiday tradition for us older folks when we were kids.But never fear, because you can own the entire Rankin/Bass collection in this set. These “Stop Action” specials and hand-drawn cartoons are sweet and nostalgic. They are reminders of how children’s shows used to be created; back then there were no computers, Pixar studios and slick computer animation. But they are timeless stories that kids today can enjoy. They are voiced by actors who are no longer with us, but have left us with a wonderful legacy; in fact, kids today who are curious about these actors can learn about them on the internet.I recommend you buy this set, because it comes with lots of extras. You’ll learn about how these cartoons were made and other interesting facts. Plus you can view these shows any time you want and not worry about missing them on TV or not being able to view them unless you subscribe to certain streaming services. Your kids will love them, and you can watch them together as a family.

    My wife and I just watched for the first time this documentary. The DVD arrived this late afternoon and we immediately played it. It is far above in all categories (powerful presentation, direction, meaning, immediacy and relevance) of any other documentary of Dinesh D’Souza’s. I will write more on this film documentary after I have time to watch it again and take in all that it offers and presents. This is a continuously gripping film. Seeing this film for the first time just moments ago, the words I have in reviewing this film is: Absolutely fantastic!

I purchased this 4K disc with no preconceptions except having grown up in the 1960’s with the original comic books (many of which I still have) and having followed all the subsequent TV series and movies. I figured a reboot would be fairly typical with staid plot progression, a fun viewing but unremarkable. I was delighted to be totally wrong. This is a stunning production worth watching many times over!The characters all have new depth from scintillating actors. Reed stretches only when needed and organic to the situation. Sue is more powerful than ever before. The torch isn’t just a headstrong kid but contributes key scientific achievements. And Ben is the most believable orange cobblestone ever put on film (incredible special effects maturation). It’s a true tour de force setting them back into a credible alternate reality derived from the 1960’s!Plus, Galactus is the most awesome and shocking ever. The Silver Surfer as a woman is both tragic and heroic. The city’s destruction is stunning. The futuristic space scenes are amazing. And the “tape reel” robot is the cutest sidekick ever. This is an engrossing movie that this old fan totally recognizes from the magic of blurry pictures printed on cheap paper from the 1960’s.Viewed projected in 4K onto a large wall screen with full surround sound turned up, it’s an immersive experience. Truly, the heart and soul of the great comic book artists from the golden age of comics is here to be enjoyed, both by old and new fans. To all those who made and provided this marvelous trip melding the past and future I have only one word: BRAVO!
  • A MCU movie that actually feels like an MCU movie.
    A fun movie that feels like a classic comic book come to life. There was obviously a lot of effort put into it and the cast seems to having fun. I know there’s quite a few people that find it dull and not as good as what was expected. Honestly, I can see their point. There could have been a couple more action set pieces and it could have been 20-30 minutes longer. It would have allowed the writers to add a bit more depth to the characters and build the stakes a bit more. No worries tho, the movies fine as is. The 4k Blu-ray is pretty basic with no slipcover. Which is kind of a drag but for 26.00 I can’t really complain. Definitely worth a purchase, especially if you have a tv and player that supports Dolby vision.

    I like the retro look and feel of this version of The Fantastic Four. Sound quality is fantastic as is the video. There are some plot holes, but what movies doesn’t have them. It’s well structured. It’s a good movie overall.

    The movie in my opinion is fun, heartwarming and emotional. The action is top notch! The acting is really good. Julia Garner, Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn are AMAZING as are the other cast! She’s really cool. I love how spectacular and epic the movie is. The Blu-ray came with a slipcover. I ordered from The Philippines and I was glad that the case and disc came home in great condition. ????????⛄♥️
