Leading as a man of God is a great and challenging calling that women can support them in. Joby does a wonderful job of encouraging men and the women who love them. Great book!

If your heart is open to the Holy Spirit, you will be set free from your past. Then you can live like a son and enjoy your relationship with our Father. Joby will make you squirm at times. I was convicted many times. He doesn’t leave you there, Joby gives hope and the realization that you can’t do it alone. You need others. Most of all, you need God’s help and it is abundantly provided in Scriptures empowered by the Holy Spirit. Other than the Bible, this is the most help book I have ever read. This is a must read for every man. Now, I’m going to read it again.

This book is absolutely fascinating. I love the layout of the book. Each chapter has its own focus and Strobel interviews an expert in that focus in each chapter. I love this type of layout and how Strobel goes through the interviews.This book is great at combining many different areas that relate to or are about Christianity. The combination makes a great cumulative case to believe why it’s reasonable that we have souls and our body is not all that exists. It further talks about the reliability of the gospels and how we can have very good reason to believe they are in fact eye witness testimonies. Other topics are near death experiences, visions/dreams etc. All with statistics and experts that lay out what we know from these cases, and how a supernatural explanation can only be the one arrived at. It’s amazing.When reading the book, chapter after chapter, I realized that Lee is really serious in investigating this realm. It showed when interviewing each expert. He asked basic questions to create a starting point of the topic and later on asked tough questions. He played devils advocate and asked clarifying questions bringing up common rebuttals of the experts. This definitely enhanced my experience and knowledge as I could see how the expert then answered to the rebuttal. I appreciated this, especially after being a police officer for 7 years. It showed you did not want a surface level explanation and wanted experts to dig deep and articulate their point. You wanted an objective, truthful and in depth explanation.The last thing I want to bring up is the last chapter of the book. I will say I disagree with some of what Ron said, but agree with most of it, as it’s based in scripture too. Ron did make it seem like most paranormal instances are often a case of mistaken identity based on people’s bias towards it. To me he made it seem as if pretty much most instances of paranormal are not real. I apologize if that is not how he meant it, but it is just how I felt after reading what he had to say about the paranormal. I don’t think all TV shows fake things, that seems a little disingenuous. Many of the locations that are said to be haunted are known haunted locations for years in those communities. Video footage of objects clearly being moved with purpose can be seen. I don’t want to get into an exhaustive explanation of this, but feel I should atleast point some things out.I have watched some current paranormal TV shows and sometimes the shows are quite boring in episodes. Nothing happens or very little happens. To me, this makes it believable. I’ve actually even seen the cast call out the family or business of the location on being deceptive and faking a haunting just to get air time. It also seems disingenuous to say that because it’s a TV show and they make money it therefore is fake. The logic does not follow, and some of these investigators truly have a passion for investigating this phenomena.Yes many people do fake it, and that’s an issue. I consider my wife to be very objective and she has told me some wild stories about haunted houses she grew up in. It wasn’t knocks, or scratches. It was unplugged early 1900s radios that were playing songs. It was a chest sliding across the floor and a rocking chair set on top of it, among many more. However, I recognize and sympathize that if an experience is genuine that demons are at the forefront, and family members are not really there. My argument is that not everything is fake. However, I will be looking into Ron more to learn more about him. I’m also going to purchase one of his books and read it as well. It’s only fair, and honestly I need to give him the benefit of the doubt as he probably would believe the things I just said, but was not able to talk about it in depth in the book.Overall, if I could rate this book 10 stars I would. I pre-ordered it several months back after learning about it from Lee’s interview on the Shawn Ryan Show. I will be giving this book to several others to read. I feel like most Christians, skeptics or those on the verge of coming to faith, don’t know a lot of this stuff and it would further bolster their belief and give them an ability to explain why they believe what they believe to others.Thank you Lee Strobel and all who were apart of this great book. Please…do yourself a favor and read it. Equip yourself.

I have never referred to a book as a “masterpiece,” but this book is a meticulously detailed case for the supernatural and the afterlife that awaits us. Every chapter left me captivated. Packed with moving testimonies complete with interviews with experts (doctors, scientists, theologians, philosophers, a detective) in each area of study that offer compelling and often well documented research to support these reports. It is well written and thoughtful, comprehensive. It will challenge every skeptic and encourage every believer. Lee shares his findings with his skill as a former investigative reporter, being open to many explanations, with the respect for evidence as someone with a law degree. I can’t suggest this book enough. I will keep my hard copy a bit longer but I will buy extras to give as gifts. This book will inspire anyone who is struggling with their faith or just needs some hope and wonder in their life. (Also would make for an AMAZING Bible study!)Thank you Lee for your beautiful work. I finished reading this books days ago but I was not sure what I would write as a review. The headline to this review is “Ignorance is not bliss, it’s folly.” This is true. We cannot afford to be ignorant concerning the things of God. However, we must tread with caution into what areas we will wade ourselves into. Like a child first learning to swim (or walk) and the parent guides them into the waters gently but also firmly indicating to the child that they need not fear. All these things covered in this book should consistently points us to God and back to God. They should solidify faith in God, belief in the supernatural and show us by the many interviewed, that the Scripture we have, are sufficient to stabilize underneath us a firm foundation on which to stand.Why would I recommend this book? The answer is simple. Lee Strobel’s: “Seeing the Supernatural: Investigating Angels, Demons, Mystical Dreams, Near-Death Encounters, and other Mysteries of the Unseen World”, is an interesting, curious and fun read, that is well researched. I’ve read dozens of books on the psychology of relationships, but this is one of the best and most useful I’ve ever seen. Gary Chapman’s unique concept of “The 5 Love Languages” (Affirmations, Quality Time, Acts of Service, Gifts, and Physical Touch) describes how knowing and using the 5 love languages can improve and deepen loving relationships, while misunderstanding them can cause harm. The information in this book is well-organized, easy to read and understand, and includes lots of stories that are not only interesting, but clearly illustrate the author’s point. There is also a self-assessment tool at the end, plus links to additional info online.Dr. Chapman’s basic concept is that “5 love languages” are commonly used in committed relationships to express love and affection toward one’s partner. Chapman explains that loving couples can run into trouble if they don’t know and understand their own dominant love language or that of their partner. A relationship can thrive if and when each person understands which specific love language is most important to themselves and also knows and honors their partner’s most important way of receiving love, which is often different from their own. All 5 of the love languages are equally useful and valid; none are better or more preferred than any other. If she does not understand how important quality time is to him, that will damage their relationship. Having a weekly date night is probably the most important thing this couple could do to improve their marriage.”The 5 Love Languages” is written specifically for married couples, but the advice could easily be applied to ANY relationship, including family and friends. The author has written other books using the 5 languages concept, such as “The 5 Love Languages” for parents – how to express love to their children and teens. Some kids thrive on physical touch when young, but the kind of touch is likely to change when they become teens. Some kids rely on quality time with one or both parents, while others want more time alone but still need to hear lots of affirmations. I wish I had known about “The 5 Love Languages” when my kids were little, but now that they are grown I can still use what I’ve learned to improve all my relationships.Overall, this book is the real deal, both important and useful. I found Pastor Joby through a friend that moved to Florida and now attends his church in Jacksonville. Pastor Joby is what I’ve been looking for in a pastor for years now. I appreciate his style of preaching and the way he leads his church. He doesn’t sugarcoat anything, he gives it to you straight and backs everything with what the Bible says. Only three chapters in, and I have to say Joby Martin is a man after my own heart. I also know that he is a man who is after GOD’s heart. I am the type of reader who likes to listen to and read the text at the same time, and his reading of his own words really brings them to life. I was first introduced to Richard Paul Evans through his “Walk” series of books, and I fell in love with his writing. I have read most of what he has written since. I had the opportunity to read an advance copy of Richard’s new Christmas book, “The Christmas Stranger”, and I jumped at the chance! Like all of Richard’s books, it is heartwarming, with a great moral focus. This particular book is about love, loss, forgiveness, and finding new love after loss, with a little push from Heaven! It has a couple of neat twists to it that I enjoyed very much. It is a great book to purchase as a Christmas present, or as a gift to yourself.

A beautiful, touching, heartwarming story that I didn’t want to put down. It brought tears of sorrow but also of joy. The devastating loss was so heartbreaking. I loved the angel aspect and the help that he gave him. I loved how helping others helped Paul to heal. This is a beautifully written story as all Richard Paul Evans stories are. There was a twist at the end that I didn’t expect at all, fantastic story that I will highly recommend to everyone.I loved reading this story as well as listening to the author narrate it on audio, it was a great listen a story that I am so glad that I read and listened to this tender story, absolutely beautiful!

This book made me cry. In the beginning, I cried because it was sad. But by the end, I was crying tears of joy. I really, really liked how this story came together. From the pains, heartache, and guilt of loss to the happiness and joy of discovery and renewal. It was woven together like the perfect tapestry it talks about in the book itself. Hello, I read this book because it was given to me by a Christian friend. I’m so glad she did, and I’m so glad I read it! It has brought a balance to my recent reading about “Spiritual Abuse”. I think we need to read about both topics in order to obtain a balanced viewpoint on how to handle offense and spiritually abusive situations as we walk-out our Christian experience.Spiritual abuse won’t happen if you don’t allow yourself to become offended! I didn’t know this truth when I first become a Christian in March 1977. If I had of understood what John was talking about in this book, and the other books I’ve been reading lately, about Spiritual Abuse, I doubt I would have walked at a distance from God for many years, after being offended by a “Spiritually Abusive” Christian group when I was “born again” in March 1977.If you have become offended there are serious consequences to be reaped in your life, such as anger, outrage, backsliding, division, broken relationships. All of which prevent a close walk with God. I know about these things because I have experienced them all in my Christian walk. John’s book only verified what has been true in my Christian walk.Get this book to understand what it means to be offended as a Christian in your walk with God. You might be surprised about what John say’s is an offense but you won’t be able to disagree with what he says is an offense because you will know that what he says’s is true because it is what you have experienced. That was what it was like for me as I read John’s book. I could relate to a lot of what he was talking about because I was an offended Christian for many years but was healed in 2006 as I began to address the areas of offense in my life. I addressed these offenses in my life not because I had read a book but I believe it was because God had decided it was long enough for me to be walking at a distance from Him. So He ever so gently began to heal me from offenses in my life. Some of those offenses had been caused by myself and others were caused by Christians and some were caused by Christian Teachers who had become legalistic on matters of faith. Offenses caused by me and or by others had to be acknowledge to God as just that, offenses to God and forgiveness asked, which I did and when I did, healing and restoration began to occur in my walk with God and I was close to Him once again, though He never left me nor forsook me all those years! He was there, very close but I was the one walking at a distance so to speak. Not any more though.Get this book even if you’ve been healed of your offenses, like I had been. Get it because it will just further your understanding about the trap Satan is using to keep people from being effective in the Kingdom of God and why the bait of Satan has become so rampant, even 20 years after the writing of this book.Get this book if you need to see what your offenses are, get this book to understand what it means to be offended. Get this book if you want to know how to get a tender heart towards God again and help His people who have become trapped by the bait of Satan – offense.Definitely a must read for all Christians who are seriously considering to have a closer walk with God and are interested in helping others to recognise the bait of Satan which they have taken into their lives.This book was first written in 1994 but it is still very, very relevant for today and I think it will continue to be a must read until Jesus returns. I plan on reading John’s other book about “Breaking Intimidation”. Judging by this book, I’m sure it will be a another great read too!Thank God that He has raised up teachers like John Bevere, who are able to show us what a practical walk with God looks like and how to recognise the offenses we have taken which have been none other than taking “The Bait of Satan” rendering us infective in furthering the Kingdom of God. After you have read this book you will pull strongholds down in your life and be in a position to do so for others as you help them from being snared by the hidden bait of Satan – taking offense.

Truly a must read for everyone this book has change my life for the better I have released myself from all past offense and look at every situation differently. I’m reading it again for the second time and have gifted it to several people. Improve your walk with God as well as with family, friends, and strangers. Enjoy

Quite possibly one of the 21st century’s most important books ever written. A must-read for every Christian believer in these end times.

The book is great, but it was never received. Hopefully, it will be replaced, as it was a gift.

I’m only halfway through the challenge but between this book and her original book, Keep It Shut, my life has been changed for the better. This book is such a good, humbling reminder that we need to walk with God in every situation and that is very easy to steer away from his direction when it feels easier or like we will have a better, more immediate, result.

I’m LOVING this book. I was feeling that I was saying too much in my friend groups, complaining and listening to complaints too much and listening to too much social media and I found myself feeling disconnected. I knew God was calling me to repentence and silence…not from talking in itself, but from talking too much about the wrong things disguised as “venting”. This book lovingly hits you right where I needed it…in the kisser and offers actionable solutions that can be implemented immediately. I love that the author is authentic and isn’t afraid to discuss matters that we all have been guilty of at one time or another. I thank God for placing this beautiful gift within the author to honestly share what you knew in your heart, but may have been afraid to face. Enjoy!!!!

Must have baby I love this book

DR HENRY CLOUD has been a guest speaker at my church on more than one occasion over the years. He’s an amazing speaker, and seems like a genuinely nice guy. When I heard about BOUNDARIES: WHEN TO SAY YES, WHEN TO SAY NO – TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE by DR HENRY CLOUD AND JOHN TOWNSEND, I decided to purchase it.I’m sorry to say I let it sit on my bookshelf for some time before finally reading it. Once I got started, I quickly realized what a treasure I’d stumbled upon. There’s so much good stuff packed into 304 pages, I can’t begin to cover it all. I will say that I have more dog-eared paged in BOUNDARIES, then I do in any other book I’ve ever owned.I didn’t realize I had boundaries issues until I read this book. There wasn’t a chapter I didn’t get something out of it or couldn’t connect with. I had thought about skipping the section on “Boundaries and Work”, since I’m no longer in the work field. I would have missed out if I had. It was a real eye opener to when I had worked, and packed with wonderful information if I ever decided to return to working.Boundaries are needed in all parts of our lives including, our family, friends, spouses, kids, and those we work with. We as individuals need to set our own boundaries as well. To not do so would only be cheating oneself. We also need to recognize that God has boundaries as well.BOUNDARIES will teach you all you need to know about boundaries in all aspects of your life, and how to apply them properly. I love the reference to Christianity, but even if you’re not a believer, I highly recommend this book.My copy of BOUNDARIES is filled with highlights, parentheses, and astericks. If I had to pinpoint the most valuable piece of information I took away, it would have to be in a paragraph on page 89.“What you can do is influence others. But there is a trick. Since you cannot get them to change, you must change yourself so that their destructive patterns no longer work on you. Change your way of dealing with them; they may be motivated to change if their old ways no longer work.”What amazing advice. How often do we gripe and groan about others? How often do we try to change others, whether in the way they act or what they say? And more importantly … how often do our efforts have a positive result? On page 89, BOUNDARIES teaches us that we are the ones that need to make a change, and by doing so, we may be instrumental in changing other’s life.I can’t even begin to guess how many people I’ve recommended this wonderful book too, packed full of knowledge for every person, written in a way that anyone can grasp. It’s a book that will remain in my home indefinitely.

This is an excellent book for either self or to give as a gift. There is a huge difference between helping someone out and them deciding that you should be expected to put yourself after them. NO! This book reminds you that you are worth putting yourself first.

I wish I had found this book at a younger age. I’m 38 years old and grew up in Cuba listening to my mom saying I should forgive everything and everyone as she continued to let my father abuse her physically, verbally, and emotionally right in front of me from age 1 day to my 24 years old I moved out by myself with my daughter. I grew up rejecting my mom’s way of believing in God but her lack of setting boundaries was ingrained in my brain until today. This is something I just started working on. I have found the main issue that ended up causing me so much pain in my life. I never learned to set boundaries and I thought by doing that I was being selfless and there forever following God’s commands. This book came to me right when I needed it the most. My counselor recommended it to me. Without her knowing she found in only three sessions what the problem with my relationships was. I’m in shock. Like I just woke up from a long nightmare. Now I understand for once setting boundaries is a way to love not only myself but others.Thank you for writing this book. I am doing the workbook together with the book. Churches should get these books. The lack of boundaries I learned from my “Christian compassionate all-forgiving mother” and the churches I have been to. The majority of churches do not talk about boundaries but only about forgiveness and mislead people, no wonder so many people have given up on church. Now it all makes sense.

This book has had a profound impact on many lives.

Definitely one of those game changer books for the people pleasers, those who give so much but end up resentful because other’s do not do the same in return. This book spoke to many of the experiences i have faced including one-sides friendships and allowing myself to be taken advantage of to the point of leading to depression. I have set many boundaries with courage and it has brought a lot of peace. I learned the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation and how to avoid and address the guilt that comes with saying no. I was confused by the use of certain scriptures where it felt the meaning was stretched to fit the narrative in some places so I reduced by one star but that did not take away from being able to learn and apply the principles in this book. Thank you to Dave Ramsey for dropping this book as a recommendation.

I’ve known about this book for years. I’ve heard both John and Henry speak on the Boundaries principles on the radio. I’ve often thought, “Some day I’ll get the book and actually read it.” So, I bought the book for my son who was going through some tough time in his life, actually never having read the book myself. I realize that something was wrong with this picture, so I read it. I was both happy and sad after reading it. I was happy that so many wonderful principles that are so applicable to my life were illuminated for me. I was sad that I had not read the book earlier in my life so I, my family, and those in my circle could have benefitted from the change in my life that could have occurred years ago. But, we can’t life in the “what could have been”. We need to live in the “what can be” and move forward. I am so excited to put these principles into practice and I look forward to reading other Boundaries books that will help me in other areas of my life. I even plan to propose discussion groups within my church, that I may even lead, to encourage others to follow the wisdom that is in this book. I’ll definitely be going back and reading it again to absorb all that it has to offer.

My therapist suggested this book for me. I feel like it’s got some great info. However, it is super religious and constantly referenced bible verses. I’m not really religious, so it was hard for me to get through.
