  • Chaotically sexy, unhinged, dark masked man golden retriever x black cat energy!
???? ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡ ????”Lɪɢʜᴛs Oᴜᴛ” ʙʏ Nᴀᴠᴇssᴀ Aʟʟᴇɴsᴛᴏʀʏ: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐sᴘɪᴄᴇ: ????️????️????️????️????️I have to start with this was my first read from this author and I went in blind. I knew it was a masked/stalker romance and, being a ???????????????? ???????????????????????????? girlie, I was definitely down to give it a shot and dove right in…and I’m glad I finally did! I went in with absolutely no expectations…turns out, there was some delicious spice and hilarious banter from the black cat x chaotic hilarious golden retriever in this story and I’m so here for it!Overall, this was a really fun, fast-paced read with a twisty storyline that kept me entertained while laughing out loud. Not even 10% in and I was laughing out loud at both main characters’ inner (and outer) dialog! ???? Aly is a trauma ER nurse with a secret mask kink, social media stalking various online masked man accounts to blow off steam from her constant work schedule. Her favorite is the Faceless Man, who posts online thirst traps religiously three times a week for thousands of feral, fellow masked man fans. Then she drunk texts her on again/off again friend with benefits a screenshot of the Faceless Man asking for some masked fun…getting an instant denial (bummer). Little does she know, her FWB shows his roommate, Josh…not realizing his roommate IS the Faceless Man who is all too willing to give Aly what she wants! Talk about a lucky girl ???? Insert instalust, online stalking, breaking and entering, delightfully funny, filthy, dominant unhinged shenanigans and you have yourself a fun little stalker romcom. I’m a new Navessa Allen fan! ????????????????????????????????It’s worth mentioning some of the reviews posted about the second half of the story surrounding Aly’s estranged cousins/uncle where the plot seems to go on a little tangent. Personally, I didn’t really have any issue with it as it actually made sense in the context of the story in my opinion. It introduces several more characters and (I’m guessing) sets up potential subsequent books in the series while tying up this plot in a neat little bow. Is it ????% factual, no of course not, but that’s the beauty of fiction: it doesn’t have to be! I followed along just fine, enjoyed the plot twists, and laugh out loud moments ???? so I didn’t have any problem with it and just went along for the ride! Was this book as dark as I expect my ???????????????? ???????????????????????????????? to be? Absolutely not. Are there dark themes and descriptions of dark acts? Yep. Did it have spicy, spicy scenes involving a masked, hot, tattooed, morally gray, filthy dominant man taking control and giving us all what we want? ????%! Did I enjoy it? ????????????????????????, ???? ???????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????? ????????! And the fantastically hilarious banter and fun development of the main characters was worth the read in my opinion (I really love them!)This book is the “lite” edition of dark romance, a dark romcom if that’s such a thing, with a delightfully funny, chaotically sexy, unhinged and morally gray ???????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????? MMC crossed with ???????????????????? ????????????, boss lady FMC energy. If you’re a hardcore dark romance girl and all the details that entails? You might not like this book. However, if you like funny, rom-coms with a dark theme, light BDSM with questionable toys, filthy talking, hot masked men with random plot twists and a strong FMC? You definitely want to read this one! I loved it and I’ll definitely be back for book #2, whenever that one comes out ???? I haven’t read B&BB but I’m told this is similar FYI.Bottomline: It’s a spicy, fun read that will have you simultaneously laughing out loud and falling in love with the main characters and their fur baby, Fred the cat. ????ℎ???? ???????????????????????? ????ℎ???????? ???????????????????? ????????????????????ℎ????????, ???????????????????? ????????????????????ℎ????????. ???????? Let that marinate for a minute… Read it, you’re welcome lol! ????OH! And PS the audio version of this book is ????????????????????????????????????????! I don’t usually listen to audio books BUT the male narrator deserves a medal and an award! Literally the BEST!ᴛʀᴏᴘᴇs:????sᴛᴀʟᴋᴇʀ/ᴍᴀsᴋᴇᴅ ᴍᴀɴ ᴘʟᴀʏ☠️ᴅᴀʀᴋ ʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇ (“ʟɪᴛᴇ” ᴇᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴ)????ᴅᴀʀᴋ ʀᴏᴍᴄᴏᴍ????ʜᴇ ꜰᴀʟʟs ꜰɪʀsᴛ ᴀɴᴅ ʜᴀʀᴅ☠️sᴇᴄʀᴇᴛ ɪᴅᴇɴᴛɪᴛʏ????sᴏꜰᴛ ᴅᴏᴍ/BDSM sᴄᴇɴᴇs????ᴅᴀʀᴋ ᴄʜɪʟᴅʜᴏᴏᴅ ᴛʀᴀᴜᴍᴀ ᴅᴇsᴄʀɪʙᴇᴅ☠️ʀᴇᴅ ꜰʟᴀɢs ????????ᴍᴀꜰɪᴀ ᴛɪᴇs????ᴘʀɪᴍᴀʟ ᴘʟᴀʏ☠️ᴅᴜᴀʟ ᴘᴏᴠ????ᴍᴏʀᴀʟʟʏ ɢʀᴀʏ ᴍᴍᴄ???? ???? ᴘʟᴀʏ (ɪʏᴋʏᴋ)☠️ʙʟᴀᴄᴋ ᴄᴀᴛ x ɢᴏʟᴅᴇɴ ʀᴇᴛʀɪᴇᴠᴇʀ
  • Perfect Palate Cleanser with a Great Balance of Humor and Spice! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I absolutely loved Lights Out! After binge-reading several dark romances, this book was the perfect palate cleanser. It was light-hearted, fun, and had the perfect mix of witty banter that had me laughing out loud more than once. The chemistry between the characters was amazing, and while the beginning was a bit predictable, things quickly took unexpected turns that kept me hooked from start to finish. While Lights Out isn’t the spiciest book I’ve ever read, it definitely has a good amount of smut to keep things steamy. The mix of humor, romance, and a bit of heat made it the perfect escape for me. I honestly couldn’t put it down once I got past the first few chapters.I’m so excited for the second book in the series, which is just a few weeks away. If you’re looking for a funny, steamy read with great character chemistry and a fun storyline, I highly recommend giving this one a try!
  • Laugh Out Loud Funny and Make You Sweat Hot
I adored this book. It was so good. It had me laughing out loud so many times and also holding on for dear life because…wow! Josh is the MMC and while he has some mask/stalker fantasies, he is the BIGGEST cinnamon roll ever! The way he just wants to take care of Aly is so adorable. His inner monologue is all about how this is a kink and he would never hurt Aly or put her in danger. I am all for not yucking someone else’s yum. Plus, Aly also has the same interests so it’s a perfect match. Josh is a masked social media icon basically. Women across the world login to see his 3x a week videos that consist of him, no shirt, fake blood, a knife, and…well dirty things. Aly is an ER nurse (so am I so I could really relate with her experiences) and she follows him on social media but doesn’t know who he actually is. She senda a previous hookup a message about trying out the mask which finds it’s way to Josh and the rest is history. The story is exciting, engaging, full of Banter, a bit ridiculous, definitely hot, and absolutely laugh out loud funny.
  • Excellent book
I loved the story, easy to read, super funny, it had tense moments that kept me glued to the book, and the protagonists are perfect for each other.
  • Honesty.
Soo I just I am so conflicted about how I feel about this book.I head so many ravings about it and how it was so funny and so cute and romantic…However…he literally stalked her. Invaded her house multiple times and privacy. She …I don’t know I feel like maybe she felt pressured into liking him in the beginning..like if she didn’t return his advances maybe he would kill her? Also um thank god brad was gone a serial rapist and absolutely no one did anything about it until now?? Just because his parents are rich??Her uncle is strange and I don’t see him letting this thing with Josh go..he could easily land himself into a situation and Nico has his dna and very incriminating evidence that he could pin on him and it would all of that against Aly’s word and even if she got evidence that her uncle is also not innocent she could be convicted as well.I also think hinting that Josh could also be a serial killer was weird and then he did kill someone and he did it on accident..wouldn’t the next death be on purpose??Couldn’t he keep going out of some sense of justice and defending Aly until he one day starts to fetishize about killing her but he doesn’t want to so he kills women that look like her? Also the forest scene… I just …no.Anyway at times it was pretty funny but this book was just a fetish for dating could be killers and having a lot of sex…therefore I leave my rating of that concept a 2The plot a 5The characters a 3And the overall storyline a 5Would not recommend to anyone who doesn’t like the aforementioned content and I might read it again.

  • Dark, but Such a Good Read
4.5 ⭐️’sI chose Haunting Adeline for my fall vibes spooky season TBR and while I thoroughly enjoyed this story, I strongly urge anyone with known triggers to check the author’s trigger warnings list on her website before diving in because this book and series are not for everyone. H.D. Carlton builds a story that is dark, twisted, and morally ambiguous. She places us in modern day Seattle inside a world where morality is blurred, stalking and obsession turn into devotion, and evil exists at the forefront of the story. The story follows Adeline, a successful writer who inherits her grandparents’ eerie estate and discovers unsettling clues about the unsolved murder of her great grandmother, Gigi. Curious and disturbed by what she learns, she becomes determined to uncover the truth with the help of her best friend, Daya. At the same time, she becomes the fixation of a man who makes no apology for his obsession with her. Zade is relentless, lethal, and morally unhinged when it comes to the things he is passionate about. Carlton writes him in a way that makes you cheer for him and question your own sanity for wanting him to win Adeline over. Somehow she manages to deliver a seamless blend of dark romance, psychological thriller, and heavy horror elements that creates a tense and addictive reading experience.Adeline and Zade’s relationship is built on obsession, defiance, and a constant battle for control. Adeline knows she should stay away from him, yet she finds herself drawn to the dark intensity he represents. Her internal struggle between fear and desire is a compelling part of the book. Zade, on the other hand, is unapologetically possessive and brutally honest about what he wants. He is dangerous, calculated, and morally black, yet he has his own twisted code of honor that makes him impossible to label as a true villain, especially once you understand who the real villains are in this story. The cat and mouse dynamic between them evolves into something much deeper and far more complicated. Their chemistry is feral, charged, and addictive, and the consent dynamic explores psychological territory that will either fascinate readers or push them far outside their comfort zone. The mystery behind Gigi’s murder works as a haunting subplot that adds steady suspense without ever distracting from the main storyline. It ties Adeline to something outside of her chaotic dynamic with Zade, giving her a purpose beyond their dangerous connection. The investigation is intriguing without feeling overly complex, and it unfolds at a pace that allows it to be resolved by the end of Haunting Adeline. Something I loved about this subplot is that it also highlights the bond between Adeline and her best friend, Daya. They tackle the mystery together, and their friendship is one of my favorite parts of this book. Daya is smart, funny, and ride or die in every way. Their connection brings balance to the otherwise dark tone of the story.Haunting Adeline pushes into very dark territory, and readers should be prepared for that. The violence, psychological manipulation, morally questionable choices, and criminal elements play a central role in the story. Carlton does not shy away from uncomfortable scenes or disturbing subject matter, and while some of it is difficult to read, it serves the world she has built. The content is heavy and at times emotionally brutal, but it always serves a purpose in the narrative. While Zade may be dangerous, he is far from the worst thing in this book. There are far darker forces moving in the background, and Adeline is caught in their path without even realizing it. The true threat comes from a corrupt organization operating behind the scenes. Their influence runs deep, and the depravity tied to them is the most unsettling part of Haunting Adeline. Their presence adds a sinister layer I was not expecting. This is not just a dark romance, it is a story about predation, corruption, and people who will do anything to maintain control.I listened to the audiobook and highly recommend that format if you enjoy audio. It is duet narration and Teddy Hamilton and Michelle Sparks do an incredible job with these characters. Haunting Adeline is also very spicy, and while sex is a major part of this book, it does not take away from the plot or character development. The story builds toward a shocking cliffhanger, and I was immediately ready for Hunting Adeline. If you are drawn to dark romance with psychological elements and do not shy away from morally complex characters and heavier subject matter, this is definitely a book to add to your TBR.
  • Would have given a 5 but the audiobook was not matching the text
If you are some who listens to audiobooks and follows along with the physical copy. There are quite a few places where the text does not match the audiobook. Which is why I gave a 4 out of 5.For the book itself, the author does an amazing job with telling the reader the trigger warning in the book. It. Gets. Dark! It is a very kinky book, very smutty, and steamy! Very much a dark romance and a slow burning book. It brings up intense topics surrounding the abuse of children, but not by the main characters. It also brings up SA topics. Both MC’s are very likeable with the dynamic that they play in the plot. It is also a multi plotted book with a well played out cliffhanger. Also has a great mystery placed in the pages that leaves the reader feeling satisfied. It can leave the reader feeling triggered by the topics stated and mentioned throughout the entire book. There are graphic details about characters deaths, and the harming of children. It also is very much written in some parts like a horror movie would play out. It does hold toxic relationship traits.
  • This was SO GOOD
I COULD SCREAMI skipped sleeping hours, workout sessions and even a shower to read this book people. SPOILERS I think the author did an awesomejob in tackling this sensitive topic (having a stalker), and making it thirlling, sexy, and… relatable? Just like Adeline, as much as I was squealing while reading, a voice in my head (moral compass) kept saying “this is so wrong”, it would be so wrong if it were happening in real life. So. I can’t quite pinpoint what would’ve made this story even better for me, but it was well enough written to be convincing and not put me off. I loved the constant feeling of DANGER while reading the book, whether it was because of Zade himself, the Society sick people, or Gigi’s murder case. The atmosphere was excellently built! I FELT the darkness, storms, rain, adrenaline, terror. UghI guess the only thing that disappointed me was that the stalking started out of the blue; it was some kind of “obsession at first sight” and Zade just decides to stalk Adeline after watching her for a while when she was at a book event. Apparently, considering the way she’s described, she’s both hot and charming in a natural way so. That’s that; no “real” reasond behind it. But well, this wasn’t terrible enough so as to prevent me from enjoying the book! Zade’s still a psycho if you ask me, but he’s more focused on protecting Adeline (so that no one else has her lol?) than hurting her (can’t deny he’s hurt her, forced her to do sexual stuff, and even threatens to end her with his belt if she bit his c0ck), he kills “bad guys” and saves vulnerable children/women, and he’s attractive, sexy, intense, beastly, committed, devoted, and wants to be a daddy (in every sense of the word lol). So these are the traits that end up convincing you as a reader, I guess, making you believe that “it’s not that bad”.I LOVED Zade as a character! He’s so masculine and intense… the way he speaks! And kisses, and touches lol I’m just so grateful that he didn’t turn all vanilla at some point. It’s so refreshing, in a sick way, how he takes whatever he wants from Adeline and owns his fantasies when he’s with her (he tells her what to do or even say sometimes). Sorry I’m just tired of all these men (characters) asking for permission lol. So yes; I appreciate that the author truly shows us that Zade is “bad”, and that feeling lasts till… the end of the novel. I also love that there’s no traumatic story behind him lol and that he never regrets nor apologizes for stalking Adeline; he totally owns it.And Adeline… Even though not that relevant to the story, I loved that she’s a writer and socially anxious! I enjoyed reading her! I loved that, at least, she’s aware of how “stupid” she’s been for “allowing” certain situations with her stalker (not that she could’ve stopped him, really), and that little by little she just accepts that she likes it all; the thrill, danger, horror, being forced. Of course, she ends up LOVING it and practically begging for more. But her inner conflict, her mixed feelings were very well developed, to the point of her experience being relatable.Something I loved regarding their whole dynamic, apart from the cat and mouse chase, and the fire and juices between them, was how… the deeper they went physically, the more they developed their connection. I just loved reading that! Without making it sappy. They found each other in sex, and that helped with their connection outside of sex. (Oh and I LOVED the built up tension and all the sex scenes!!!!). It was refreshing reading how wanted Adeline was by this beast of a man. Okay so, in case it wasn’t clear I LOOOOOOVED this book! It’s definitely one of my favorites now! On the downside, I was so gripped by it and obsessed with what was going to happen with them, that Zade’s point of view (when he was out doing “humanitarian” work) and Gigi’s diary pages felt more like a hazard than something that I was interested in reading and enjoy. Finally, though this is a romance and I AM here for it, a part of me had the crazy idea that by the end of the book, Adeline was so freaked out about the “being a mommy” coment that she had decided to run away! (And that’s why the title of the second book is “Hunting” Adeline). I cannot deny I felt disappointed when that wasn’t the case lol. Still an awesome book that I totally recommend!

K+S are now vital to my existence & this is only Book 1…Devastatingly beautiful. I am beyond repair.Infinity stars. Gimme more ????I was extremely intimidated by this series for a very long time; knowing it would simultaneously destroy me & dig a permanent place for itself in my heart ????As expected, I was instantly addicted & deeply emotionally invested right from the start ????Kade Mitchell despises Stacey Rhodes. She betrayed & lost him years ago. Or did she?Nevertheless, he is still wildly obsessed with the dancer & If he can’t have her, no one can ????????????The everlasting, undeniable pull between them leads him to break (almost) all of his rules when it comes to the girl who shattered his teenage heart. But will he ever break the final one & forgive her?All the while, Kade has been thrust into a dangerous life of darkness in the Underworld, with no chance of freedom in sight & Stacey is fighting to escape the wrath of her psychotic, abusive stepbrother…We get several ”flashback” chapters of how they became each others world & how everything came crashing down ????These chapters made me fall irrevocably in love with Kade & Stacey on such a soul deep level. • Incredible beginning of a series
4.5/5 starsThe beginning of a dark romance series that I already know will become one of my favoritesThis was such an intense and emotional story. The conflict of loving and dreading the flashbacks, with these beautiful moments of two people coming together while also knowing things end up going terribly wrong, and, no matter what, you can’t help but root for them to be with each other. Can’t wait to dive into Voracious causes that ending omg!!! I need more!If you enjoy reading on audio, Insatiable has a full cast narration and it’s absolutely incredible, can’t recommend it enough (also I’m deeply obsessed with the playlist of this book, it’s so freaking perfect!).Small note. Please take care of yourself and check the trigger warnings. Be aware that this book dives into very dark themes that can be difficult to read

They go through some hard things and come our 10x stronger!I want to dive into Satanic Shadows so bad!!! But I heard it ends in a cliffhanger and I’m scared????????
  • Insatiable
First thing please check the trigger warnings before starting this book.A second chance romance that you will take you thru every single emotion you have. Leigh Rivers does a great job of balancing the flashbacks with the present. You get to see the start of their love story and where they are at in each others lives in the present. To me this is a friends to lovers to enemies to lovers again. Its a fast pace book, with so much depth and so many layers to the characters and their story. My heart was torn out and yet i thank Leigh Rivers for writing the story of Kade and Stacey. This is the first book in a trilogy.
  • Felt disconnected…
This one took me way longer to finish than I expected. I just couldn’t connect with the younger, more immature characters, and I usually prefer casts that feel a bit older and more grounded. The premise is super compelling, but the ages didn’t match the intensity of what the couple had supposedly been through, which made things feel a little off. There were also quite a few unanswered questions and plot holes and honestly, more smut than plot for my taste. The hype set my expectations high, but it didn’t quite deliver. It took over half the book for me to finally get hooked… only for it to end on a massive cliffhanger. That said, I did enjoy the multiple POVs and the banter, and I’ll be picking up the next one because I need to know what happens next!

  • she’s living the ENM dream
again with the representation! i already loved Theo, but on top of brooding and stoic he is EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT AND SECURE!?!?!? he’s so accepting that it healed something in me and he’s not even a real person lol. the depiction of non monogamy truly brought a tear to my eyes. Grey’s heart was shattered. the part where he said he did everything right broke my heart too. i thought she would end up having to choose but then BAM!! enm!!! this is the first novel i read that includes enm (i’m not typically into romance novels) and it was just beautiful to see Grey put aside his ego and pride for her and accept her fully. As he feels more reassured, his jealousy subsides.BUT THEN DAMON!?!? i did not see Theo coming, and then i did NOT see Damon coming! of the three, this was the most tender for me, i think because Damon was secretly falling for her and was subconsciously grappling with his feelings that he couldn’t even identify yet. it was a shock to him when it finally manifested, it was a shock to her, and it was a shock to me! his feelings just came off as pure and undeniable.
  • The drama continues….
STEPH! Did your big one with this second book! The character growth from Grey! The way the relationship between Theo, Avery, and Grey develops! More secrets being revealed!!! I enjoyed this book soooo much! Keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time!!! Dr. Smith is definitely growing on me ????
  • Echoes: Because Apparently I Love Suffering
ECHOES by Steph Macca — I AM UNWELL. PERMANENTLY.I finished this book and just sat there. Staring. Breathing like I’d run a marathon through hell.Steph Macca didn’t write a story—she performed psychological warfare disguised as a dark romance and I loved every second of it.The asylum? A fever dream of pain and obsession. The characters? Broken toys dipped in gasoline and set on fire. The plot? I don’t even know what reality is anymore—just betrayal, lust, and trauma bonding.Avery? My girl needs therapy, holy water, and a vacation.Damon? He’s a walking red flag wrapped in sin and I’m saluting.Atlas and Saint? Please stop ruining my moral compass—I can’t handle the way they exist.Steph Macca’s writing feels like being kissed and stabbed at the same time. It’s poetry written in blood, lust, and cigarette smoke. Every chapter left me screaming “WHAT THE ACTUAL F***” and then turning the page because apparently I like suffering now.By the time I hit the ending, I was clutching my chest like an Edwardian widow. Cliffhanger? More like emotional homicide. If Unhinged broke you, Echoes digs up the grave and dances on your corpse. If you like your books dark, deranged, and dripping with obsession—this is your Roman Empire.10/10 would sell my soul to Steph Macca again. No therapy, no peace, just pain and perfection.
  • Eh!
So book 2 is a bit of a let down compared to book 1… I still like the fact that they are short books so you can get through them without unnecessary stuff but at the same time this book felt like a filler for the entire story so there wasn’t much in it expect the progression of the relationship between Theo grey and Avery plus the little added piece with Damon. .. but still it’s not that intriguing. Book 1 was captivating and mysterious…. with a good cliffy… still gonna read book 3 but now I’m starting to think this all could be one book …
  • Another Cliffhanger!!!
So tell me why, four of my favorite narrators knocked this audio out of the freaking park!!! Marie, Joe, Anthony and Corvin did an amazing job yet again!!! if you don’t already know, echoes is booked two in the Dance with My Demon series. Series follows Avery (Marie), as our FMC and then our three MMC‘s are Damon (Joe), Grey (Corvin) and Theo (Anthony). I could not stop listening to this book once I started it. It had me from the first chapter! During the first book my favorite MMC was Theo (Anthony) but I’m sorry Joe and Anthony as much as I love both of you and always love listening to books with you in them, Corvin absolutely was amazing in this book. Every time, Corvin was narrating, my brain just stopped working and all I wanted to do was listen to Corvin. So Grey is my new favorite MMC after book two!!! With that being said that doesn’t mean Joe and Anthony don’t also do an amazing job because they do. They are both just as incredible as Corvin in this book and I don’t think they could’ve picked anybody else to bring Grey Damon and Theo to life other than these three !! Marie she does amazing in every audiobook I’ve ever listened to with her an echoes was no different. Marie is absolutely incredible as Avery in this book and I don’t think I could picture anybody else narrating Avery other than Marie. Also Chapter 22 and 28 ????????????????. Thank you again to blue nose audio for allowing me to listen to this!!! I loved every minute of this book and I cannot wait to see how the series continues!!
  • An absolute most read on audio the narrators are masterful
Again another book I HIGHLY recommend for the audio experience! The narrators truly shine in this one!Can we take a minute for the betrayal that leads to immense character growth for 4 characters like holy cow!Secondly as if I already did not love every square inch of a library these books have given me a new appreciation for sure!To see the shift in Gray in this book and the way Corvin King narrates that shift was MASTERFULI cannot say enough about these books I’ve found another auto buy author for me !Overall this book was another 5⭐️ read for me and a solid 4????️ if you haven’t GO read these books !
  • Why choose when your in a secret society with psychos
If you’re into dark romance and love a “why choose?” story, this one will wreck you—in the best way. Think crazy, crazier, and full-blown head crazy. And holy cliffhanger, I did not see that ending coming. When people ask what I’m listening to, I tell them: “Picture Arkham Asylum. Now add a secret society. Then stir that madness with a love stick—or two.” That’s the vibe. Chaotic, intense, twisted, and addictively good. The Audible version is performed in duet narration and it’s absolutely worth every penny—or credit. 10/10 would let these psychos ruin my life again.

  • I can’t handle
Leigh Rivers Voracious is an unrelenting dive into the depths of dark romance, and it stands out as a testament to the genre’s power to both devastate and captivate. With its raw portrayal of trauma and its unflinching exploration of the human psyche, this second installment in the series is a masterpiece of emotional intensity.Voracious picks up the narrative with even more complexity than its predecessor, plunging readers deeper into Stacey Rhodes tumultuous past. His presence in the narrative enriches the plot, offering additional depth and intrigue that complements the primary romance and trauma-driven themes. As if the emotional rollercoaster weren’t enough, Rivers leaves readers with a cliffhanger that will have them eagerly awaiting the next installment. The unresolved threads and lingering questions about the characters’ fates create a compelling anticipation that ensures readers are hooked until the very end.Voracious is a tour de force of dark romance and suspense. • Trilogy overall is good but a bit overhyped
Overall, I did enjoy this trilogy but it didn’t quite meet my expectations after all the rave reviews on booktok. I expected a 5 star trilogy but it kinda fell flat in some areas for me which I think mainly was based on the writing. Oftentimes, I felt like I was reading a summary of important parts of a story with missing information. It would jump time/place/setting without a smooth transition. Some of the phrasing was odd as well which may be because she’s not American so I’m just not familiar with it. I also found book 3 to be a little repetitive.Outside of those complaints, I still gave it a 4 star overall because I could look past those bothersome pieces and enjoy the story. I still highly suggest giving it a try if it interests you.I did get invested in the storyline, cheering for the FMC & MMC in their trials, loving the side characters, hating the villains, crying for their successes and supporting the revenge plot. It took a roller coaster ride of emotions to get to a HEA but thankfully we did.I will note there’s a lot of dark content in all 3 books. Please check the full list of trigger warnings. (a few examples: gun violence, A LOT of sexual assault, gang r@pe, torture, forced cannibalism, forced sexwork, drugging, etc)Tropes• Enemies to lovers• Best Friends brother• Forbidden Romance• Second change romance• Revenge plot• Touch her and die
  • I’m emotionally shattered and cannot begin Book 3 fast enough. ????????
this one knocked the wind out of me. ????????Stacey comes home thinking she can breathe. Instead she’s dragged deeper into the unthinkable and Kade? He’s shattered, darker, and more dangerous than ever. Watching them hurt, fight, and claw toward each other feels like watching a beautiful trainwreck in slow motion. This book is raw, brutal, and utterly unputdownable. If you crave enemies-to-lovers turned second-chance with obsession so thick you can taste it then this series will own you. • dark emotional ride
5⭐️After the way book 1 ended I was so ready to start book 2. I was floored and emotionally drained during this book with all the things that was happening, the things the characters, and all the things I learned while reading this book.I was connected to this book and flew through it trying to get more and more information that the end really through me, but it was so good.
  • Unending awful rapey step-brother crap
Spoiler warning: I loved the first book, but this 2nd book was immensely darker. Too dark for me at times, the abuse from the rapey step-brother had me quoting this book twice, but after some time I still came back. The nonstop abuse both the main character endure for half the book had me seething with rage. Maybe it is because I am a father of a toddler little girl or because so many girls that I’ve dated, including my wife, had to endure sexual abuse like in this book. Either way, the bad parts are supposed to be balanced with the good flashbacks, but they mostly weren’t for me. The sexual abuse of Stacey had me seething with rage when I would finish one of her chapters and I had no outlet for it. The book eventually gets past this and, while you’re begging for Stacey to just tell anyone what her stepbrother is doing to her and think she never will, she finally FINALLY tells everyone. For most of this read I thought it was just only going to be screwed up darkness and most of this book felt like a black hole of depressing themes for me. It does get past this and get better, but holy crap was the dark parts long and difficult.

  • The Edge Of Darkness Trilogy Is A Must Read!
O MY WORD!! I kept seeing Leigh Rivers in my feed and she did NOT disappoint! I devoured the Edge Of Darkness trilogy in no time. From Insatiable to Voracious and Restitution, this series perfectly explores morally gray obsession, trauma, addiction, and dark revenge. It’s raw, emotional, and so beautifully twisted, each book even better than the last.Kade and Stacey. I don’t think I will ever forget these two! From the age of 15, this intense attraction and connection took hold and the journey they go on is full of so many ups and downs. The amount of horror and trauma these two went through…. It will kill you. But the angst, the connection, the burn, the utter soul-deep bond these two have. And when they come together, the passion and heat is indescribable????The side characters absolutely pulled me in. Base? I need his and Lu’s story—because that man, he’s hilarious, tragic, and somehow perfect in all his brokenness. And Daddy Tobias? A deranged psychopath, but for those he loves, he will burn the world down for. This entire cast just makes the series. You will ride an emotional rollercoaster. You will laugh, you will want to throw your Kindle, you will cry, you will burn with them. This trilogy is dark, consuming, and utterly unforgettable. Leigh Rivers doesn’t just write heat—she gives you every emotion, every heartbreak, every reckless choice. You’ll feel every touch, every ache, and every heartbreaking twist. And every amount of healing that unfolds. Kade and Stacey become absolute warriors in every way! This story is the kind that lingers in your mind long after the final page. The kind that reminds you exactly why you fell in love with stories that are dark, that burn, break, and heal you all at once. If you haven’t read this book series, YOU MUST! It is so good!Rate: 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Spice: 4/5????️????️????️????️

  • Restitution
Leigh Rivers’ Restitution is the third book in The Edge of Darkness Series, a riveting and emotionally charged narrative that chronicles the journey of Kade, Stacey, and their inner circle. Throughout the series, the characters have confronted unimaginable hardships, including devastating losses that have left an indelible mark. Despite being pushed to their limits, they continue to demonstrate remarkable fortitude, fighting tirelessly for their personal goals, the welfare of their friends and families, and the preservation of their relationships. This compelling narrative underscores the significance of vulnerability as a source of strength and the transformative power of adversity. The characters’ evolution throughout the series is a testament to their capacity for growth, as they emerge more resilient and multifaceted than they were initially portrayed. To preserve the narrative’s impact, I shall refrain from revealing additional details.Finish the series it is well with the trauma induced pages! Iykyk

  • SHANTEL, I LOVE YOU-
The Sinner was an absolutely addictive read and a perfect 2nd installment in the L.O.R.D.S series. Shantel Tessier delivered everything I love in a dark romance—intensity, passion, and characters that make you feel every emotion. The chemistry between the leads was explosive, and the darker elements only made the story more compelling. I couldn’t put it down; every twist kept me hooked and wanting more. Tessier has a talent for balancing sin and seduction, and she does it flawlessly here. If you enjoy a spicy, dangerous, and emotionally charged romance, this book is a must-read. Easily a 5/5 for me—The Sinner solidifies why I’m obsessed with this series.
  • Love this book!
Review: I really enjoyed this book. This is a dark romance so please check the trigger warnings. This book follows Easton (Sin) and Ellington (Ellie). Easton joins a secret society called the L.O.R.D.S. during his freshman year at Barrington College. During their senior year they are offered a chosen one. Easton does not want his chosen. He has his eyes set on Ellie. Ellie’s father was also a L.O.R.D. After tragedy strikes Ellie goes through hell. Then he came and saved her. The devil disguised as her personal hero. I Vow. You Vow. We Vow. I really did enjoy the storyline and the writing. I did not see the plot twist at the end coming. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.Favorite Quote: “If life has taught me anything, it’s that it doesn’t stop when you need rest. You swallow your cries and you lift your chin. Because life doesn’t give a f* about you. You either take it, or you let it kill you.”
  • Another amazing book in the LORDS series
Wow! I ate this book up and left no crumbs. The Sinner is the second book in the LORDS series and we meet MMC Easton Bradley Sinnett (Sin) and FMC Ellington Asher. Sin and Ellington both attend Barrington University and after completing all trials of initiation, Sin has his eyes set on one thing and one thing only, Ellington. Sin will do anything to claim Ellington as his. This book consumed me. The story is DARK. Please check your triggers but oh, is it so worth it. Sin maybe a master manipulator but will stop at nothing to protect his dearest Ellington. Ellington has had a hard upbringing. I do not want to reveal any spoilers but that is putting it mildly. Ellington deserves to have protection and for the people who hurt her to pay for what they have done.Quotes:”Ill never set you free, little demon. Its best you understand that now.” She licks her wet lips. “Because I’d hate to have to k*ll us both.” If I cant have her, no one will. But I also would never want to survive in a world where she doesn’t exist. Death would be heaven compared to a life without her being mine.At this very moment, I realize I’d do anything for him. I’d do anything to be his little demon. When I burn the world down, and they ask me why, I’ll tell them the devil asked me to do it. And I wanted to make him proud.
  • 3.9⭐️
Elli is the daughter of a dead lord and has always known they existed. When she used to listen in on her mothers sex therapy sessions as a young teen she got caught by her step father and he forever took advantage of her and also allowed other lords to take advantage of her. To say Ellis life wasn’t easy is an understatement and it caused her to be a sex addict and substance abuse. Sin always knew elli would be his even growing up. She was his sisters best friend and has always been in love with her. And one night when he snuck into her house to kill her step father something happens between the two of them even though sin is the middle of his initiation to the lords and they’ve never been separated since. Now that he’s officially initiated and in his senior year he wastes no time making elli his. This was a very dark romance. In particular he pierced her nipples, tattooed his name on her lower back and married her all with her knowing. And that’s just some of the crazy things that happen. But one thing is for sure, Sin will do anything to keep elli even if that means betraying his own family and the lords. This book was good but the reason i rated it so low was because it seemed like elli was getting raped by literally every man that was brought up in the book and it got really heavy and a bit too much in my opinion. Spice was crazy. May take a while to read the others
  • Easton is the best book boyfriend
The Sinner raises the stakes significantly higher than its predecessor, The Ritual, establishing a new standard of intensity within the LORDS series. This second volume is characterized by its raw emotional depth and relentless pace. Shantel Tessier adeptly intertwines themes of profound trauma, erotic elements, and complex narrative developments to craft a compelling tale that captivates readers and maintains their engagement throughout.Typically, I approach series that divert attention from original protagonists with caution; however, Tessier transitions between characters with remarkable fluidity. Although the narrative primarily focuses on Elli and Sin, it concurrently incorporates familiar figures, thereby preserving a connection to the universe established in the initial installment. This creates a successful amalgamation of continuity alongside innovative storytelling.Regarding the dynamics between Elli and Sin, their relationship is marked by intensity. The narrative confronts weighty themes head-on, warranting attention to the specified trigger warnings. Yet, amidst the exploration of these darker elements exists a profound emotional resonance. The resilience demonstrated by Elli, paired with Sin’s multifaceted character, renders their relationship a complex interplay of both suffering and beauty as it unfolds. With all that said easton is by far my favorite book boyfriend i love this book so much i own multiple copys of it and i think you should too

  • Great Ending to the Trilogy
Scythe & Sparrow – Brynne WeaverBrynne Weaver delivers a finale that is dark, witty, and completely addictive. Rose and Fionn’s story had me grinning, blushing, and aching in equal measure—their banter is sharp, their chemistry undeniable, and their journey full of both chaos and heart. What I loved most was how seamlessly Weaver balanced murder and mayhem with humor and love. From Barbara the raccoon to cotton-candy spice to quiet, emotional moments between brothers, this book made me laugh out loud one page and cry on the next. The epilogues and bonus chapter wrapped it all up perfectly—equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking. This trilogy has been pure brilliance from start to finish, and Scythe & Sparrow is an unforgettable conclusion. Brynne Weaver’s voice is sharp, irreverent, and full of heart, and I’ll read anything she writes.
  • Loved this book!
Searching for a story filled with murder, humor, and spice? Look no further than Brynne Weaver’s Scythe & Sparrow, where murdering tarot card reader and circus performer meets country doctor with a murderous past. I just loved Rose and Fionn’s love story! You’ll also get Barbara the raccoon, sexy times with cotton candy, an interesting use of a staple gun, and a crocheted sex swing. ????????I loved the audiobook. The narration by Samantha Brentmoor and Eric Nolan was top-notch!Quotes:• I might have been abandoned here, left in a cage. Maybe my wings have been clipped. But I can still fly.• I know that when it comes to Fionn Kane, I will break every rule.• I don’t just want part of her. I want all of her. It makes you a whole one.”• Small Town Romance• Friends with Benefits• Touch Her and Die• Forced Proximity
  • fave of the series
Loved this series!! This one in particular was my favorite for the character development and growth and slow burn. They’re also just hilarious. Everything about this series was top notch, the banter, the writing, the imagery, the smut, the plot, the mystery, the characters, yes yes and yes!
  • Ta-da!!! It’s OVER!!!
Scythe & Sparrow- Brynn WeaverTa-da!!! It’s OVER!!!!! The Ruinous Trilogy has concluded and I have to say I am so thankful. I had such high expectations for S&S and I think I hyped myself up too much – which led to major disappointment.S&S is a dark, stabby romcom dealing with past trauma, chaos, self discovery, quirkiness and complexity. Rose, your FMC, has a good heart wanting to help women in abusive situations but she’s much better at reading her tarot cards than being stabby. Fionn is a self-isolating, crocheting doctor afraid to embrace his dark side who becomes Roses’ personal clean up crew with no questions asked…….ok, maybe a lot of questions but he’s still there for her every time. The good:Barbara. TheSuture Sisters – specifically their modification of one pattern. The pina colada stabby session. Letters from FK.The rest:One story, S&S, fell in line with TWO timelines yet it felt flat and slow. I would have expected it to be rushed or at least full of ongoing excitement. For the time Weaver gave us two stories with B&B (will always be the best) and L&L we got one story in S&S. The beginning was great, Rose’s arrival into Fionn’s life was full of pina colada scented stabby excitement and an element of surprise. From there, we had moments of ooohhh this is going to get good then things would just fall kind of flat on its face and never really ramp up. Rinse and repeat bringing in parts of the two previous books (small parts) to tie the stories together and then the end. Heck, I didn’t even feel the “spice” was as good as previous books.Overall:S&S had so MUCH potential to knock our socks off. I just felt a big letdown when I finished it – even after reading both epilogues. I know it is a trilogy but after the epilogues it feels as if Weaver may try to branch off with another series with one or more of the couples in series. I don’t know if I should be semi-excited about the thought of it because I do love the characters (even being disappointed with S&S I still love Rose and Fionn) or if I should just close myself off and not risk the disappointment that could come of it.I’m not sure if I became desensitized to the darkness of the genre from B&B (and Haunting/Hunting Adeline after reading B&B LOL) or if S&S was truly on the milder side of spice. Regardless, I feel S&S is worth a read if you’ve read the first two just so you can finish out the trilogy and be done……well, unless Weaver expands its and from the dual epilogues it seems like she might.

  • So good! I need more!
This is the first book of Leigh rivers that I have read and I am hooked ????I never thought I would fall in love with a taboo romance but here we are. Olivia Vize and her family adopt a little boy named Malachi who is mute, she learns to sign with him and he becomes obsessed. Olivia and Malachi are a twisted pair, Olivia comes across as sweet and innocent while Malachi is a force to be reckoned with. In the beginning your sitting there thinking will the or won’t they… it’s a gi. Then when you hit part two? they make sure you know what’s up…and the situation with dad? Good griefWhile this book is full of pure delicious smut, it will also hit you in your feelings. “Please choose me. No one ever chooses me” I sobbed and in that moment I knew in my heart Olivia didn’t deserve Malachi. (Even though I love them together)This book leaves you on a slight cliffhanger and definitely leaves you wanting more! So definitely check out Little Liar.I will always recommend this book when someone asks for something dark and twisted. But as always please, please check your trigger warnings!
  • A wild and fun ride!
This book wasn’t what I was expecting but I had soooo much fun reading it. I didn’t expect it to be as funny as it was (especially in part 2 – Malachi is so funny), as spicy as it was, or as dark as it was. I enjoyed that it was short but | almost wish it was longer so that there was a little more context for certain things, because I think that would have bumped it up to a 4.5 star rating for me. I could have done without the constant “I’m your sister and you’re my brother” but other than that, it was so, so good. I was hooked from the start of this book and didn’t want to put it down. I absolutely love Malachi and I have this weird obsession with people who “can’t feel emotions” but feel emotions for one person, and this book is another one in that pile. It pushed the envelope on some things that I didn’t expect it to (IYKYK), and I liked that. All in all, I had such a blast reading this and I can’t wait to read the second book in the duet. The song I would choose for this book is “Tainted Love” by Marilyn Manson.

Little Stranger was my first read by Leigh Rivers and I will be reading her other books ASAP!!! This book was so much more than I expected it.I stayed up and read the first book in one night! I just couldn’t put it down! The way Malachi was possessive and obsessed with Olivia…. I just love these two SO MUCH!!!! I finished Little Liar already, so I will be posting a review and edit later this week????
  • Falls flat in many aspects
Let me start by saying I’m glad I read this. It’s frequently on Bookstagram and recommended lists. It’s been on my TBR list for awhile and now I can cross it off!The book fell flat for me though. The characters are well described and you understand their difficulties and personalities very quickly. You learn which characters to like vs hate. It’s a dual POV book and much is nice, but I don’t think Leigh used it to make the storyline better. As for the plot and storyline. Again, falls flat. We spend the first half, Part One, following Olivia and Malachi’s through their younger and teen years. We gather they have an unhealthy foster sibling relationship after being traumatized before being adopted. Olivia is a naive girl with an agreeable personality. She’s incredibly frustrating for most of the book; she thinks and feels one thing yet acts and says another. This is a common theme that is unfortunately important to the plot. Malachi is also frustrating but in a hard to describe way. Part two is when Malachi shines and we get to know him a bit better. It’s also where the “Dark” Romance comes into play, even though it’s only 3 or so chapters worth.Part two is dark, I’ll give ya a star for that. But it’s so dang quick and infrequent that it’s almost confusing. Malachi flips on the dark and then almost immediately turns it off. This is the last few chapters, so again, slightly confusing. How do they truly care about each other? One minute they love each other? The next they want to torture each other?Overall, this is a nice novella to read if you’re new to dark romance and want a slow start. The execution is flawed, which is making me avoid book 2.

Another “tik tok made me read it” and my oh my… everyone needs a demon named Leon in their life! M mm mmm ????????Her Soul To Take is definitely a dark, twisty, question yourself romantasy. And I would check your triggers, there is some graphic content and we step into horror movie feels while reading this. Ooo, my heart rate definitely stepped it up a notch with some scenes, the scary kind AND the spicey kind.Leon is red flags all over but you absolutely want give this demon from Hell your mind, body and soul. I want to know what the symbol for his name is so I can have it tattooed on my thigh too ???? (don’t you judge me).Rae is absolutely gorgeous and was a nice breath of fresh air considering most of what I’ve read this year are about strong heroine type FMCs. No, Rae is a lot more relatable, but is she brave, I’ll give her that. And man, does she have some kinks going on. Good for her. This was very well written, great storyline and the spice ????????????.5/5, maybe even a 4 and damn… avoid reading during your lunch hour at work ???? because you may want to rush home to your bedside draw. There’s another book, that looks to be following Zane and Juniper’s story, but at least for this storyline and these MCs, it does feel finished. There is no cliffhanger, it can be read as a standalone.Totally worth your time if you’re into monsters and demons and “question your life choices” spice.
  • gripping, eerie, and intense story
“Her Soul to Take” was my first real dive into dark romance, and I have to say—I was not prepared! Harley Laroux delivers a gripping, eerie, and intense story that kept me hooked from start to finish. I really enjoyed the main characters; they were compelling and had great chemistry. However, I felt like the love story developed a bit quickly, which made it a little harder to fully connect with their relationship. That said, the atmosphere, supernatural elements, and dark themes were all really well done. If you’re looking for a truly dark and steamy read, this one definitely delivers.

Plus, she’s got a penchant for paranormal stuff which makes me love her even more. I’m an avid ghost adventurers watcher soooo, I just adore Raelynn and feel like I can relate to her. Leon, our cinnamon roll demon MMC, is literally DELECTABLE. He’s somehow super rough around the edges and also insanely likeable. The things he says in the bedroom omfg….????“Beg for it. Beg for what you want.”⬆️ I will beg, Leon. Anything you tell me to do, I’ll do….The plot in this is also super enthralling and had me wondering what was going to happen next. My heart would start racing, and that’s how I know I truly enjoy a plot. I felt that connection, and I am just enamored. Hats off to you, Harley. I loved this. I’m diving straight into book two ????
