Background: I had wanted to buy one of those instant countertop ice makers but did not feel I would be getting a quality product for less than $200. By accident I came across these mini freezers and thought if I was going to spend $200, why not go for a full on freezer and make lots of cold ice?So that led me to buy the 5.1 cubic foot mini freezer which can double as a fridge if you need that.The following is my Initial impression only. Durability is TBD big there is a one year warrantyI Received the unit delivered to front porch by friendly Amz person. Kudos on delivery!!lOff topic: the Amazon truck made an ungodly screeching sound when it was backing up. I was working out in the garage when the unit arrived and thought my neighbors dog had attacked a goose. Nope. That’s the new backup warning signal.Back to the review…I inspected box based upon various reviews which mentioned dents/damage. Box looked good. Unboxing was easy enough and thorough Ispecton revealed zero damage. Maybe a very slight cladding bend at one lower corner but insignificant IMO. All panels were in excellent shape.Installed in my previously prepared spot and plugged in after ops manual directed 30 minute wait. Unit immediately began cooling and I loaded with four large ice block molds also purchased from Amazon. Freezing in progress but it is COLD in there.You will need to organize storage because you are basically placing frozen goods in a 30 inch deep box. The provided basket will help but we plan to buy several additional boxes to segregate meat, frozen fruit and so on. There will be some fussing around getting to your desired foodstuff but easily managed with a few containers.There is no auto defrost so you will have to do old school defrosting from time to time.It’s is weird in that there is a defrost drain at the bottom of the unit but this is not identified in the ops manual. So you will need that drain occasionally for defrosting. I am already seeing some frost build up. Of course I am opening the unit much more frequently than normal because I want to observe how it’s working. This will allow humid air to enter the unit. Lesson is open the thing only when you NEED to open it.Overall really pleased so far and would recommend this unit unequivocally. As mentioned earlier. TBD on durability.Update 11/13/25Unit still going strong. Worked great during summer heat in my garage.Tried some removable baskets for organizing stuff but they were more hassle than they were worth.The biggest issue is organizing stuff in this deep box.We have pretty much gone to storing things in the box in am unorganized state and moving things to our kitchen freezer as needed.Example, ice cream sandwiches. Put the big box in this freezer and move a few to stock the kitchen fridge from time to time.This keros the kitchen freezer manageable but allows storage of a reasonable amount of stuff between Costco runs.Other than that, this thing is a great. Compact freezer and working fine with minimal impact on power bill.

This freezer is just the right size for things I can’t fit in my refrigerator freezer. Bread and baked goods and leftovers are what I have in there now. I don’t know why I waited so long to get this. I have it in my basement but in a way that’s too bad because it’s really sleek looking and if I had the room I’d keep it upstairs. With the holidays coming I can go ahead and prep food now and have room to store it instead of waiting til the last minute to bake. I’m very pleased with the freezer.

I have wanted a small deep freezer for at least 15 years. I am so happy with this. It’s perfect for a small household. It arrived without dents. I got lucky. Very quiet. Put it in my basement. Performing as it should. I need to get some trays for it though. I am short and I can’t touch the bottom when it is open so it may be a challenge to clean when it is time for defrost. This sounds personal. May need to update if it does something weird, but for now I recommend it. 3.5 fits great in a small space. I will get a thermometer so I can be sure of temp. It has a nice appearance too.

Great size freezer, super easy to unbox and plug in, it’s very quiet and cannot hear it when I’m in the garage. The temperature control is not ideal for knowing where you’re at, but a freezer thermometer helped me zero in on my target temp. Seems well built and solid, I own a few Midea products now and none of them have let me down yet.

I’ve had my Midea freezer for about half a week, and it’s already starting to frost on the walls. The cooling performance is strong, and it keeps food frozen solid, but I wish the temperature control had actual numbers instead of just cooling and freezing. It’s a bit of guesswork to find the right setting. The build quality feels solid and it runs quietly, which I appreciate. Overall, it’s a good, reliable freezer — just needs clearer temperature controls to earn five stars.

This freezer was just what I needed. The freezer is light-weight enough that I was able to set it up on a back counter so it was easier for me to use. It arrived in great condition. It is easy to organize so I can get to the frozen foods we use on a daily basis.

The freezer arrived 5 days early. The delivery driver placed it where we wanted it. We unpacked the freezer and noted no damage. We let the freezer sit for 1 day. We then plugged the freezer in and let run and stabilize for 1 day. The freezer was running, it was cold inside. I set the temperature control to no. 4. We loaded the freezer and the food is frozen solid. We use it as an overflow for our kitchen refrigerator/freezer. The freezer runs so quiet, we cannot hear it at all. Highly recommend.

Love this little freezer! I store mostly various breads (he likes wheat, I like white) and boxed foods I don’t need right away. It frees up my main refrigerator freezer for daily use items. Works great.

Packaging was perfect. Product had zero dents or any damage. The metal they use is thin and can dent easily, be careful when taking it out of the box and handling.It works as expected. My only comment is the humming. It’s louder than a mini fridge I have. It is not heavy. It is simple to set up. I left it at level 3, let’s see how it goes.

Freezes very well, very quiet and is the perfect size for a backup freezer.

The freezer is easily operated and works very well. It has enough room and is not noisy at all. I first complained about its stability, but then, after carefully reading the booklet, I could fix the issue by adjusting the leveling screws. One month since it was delivered, so far so good!

I finally bit the bullet, removed my old dishwasher that died from disuse, and replaced it with this Midea freezer! It’s so nice to have extra freezer space. The freezer arrived well packaged and in great shape. It was light enough for me to move it into place by myself. I set the desired temperature (knob on the back), plugged it in, and it was ready to go! It has 2 shelves and a wire basket at the bottom. It holds more than half of what my fridge freezer holds, so really quite a bit. It runs quietly and keeps everything nice and frozen. I don’t have the recommended 4 inches of space around all sides, but I’ve put my hand behind the freezer several times and it’s not getting hot at all. So far, I love it!

Nice compact freezer unit. I bought it just to store my frozen dog food. I would have given it 5 stars, but the only negative at this time is that I do not like that the thermostat control is located on the exterior at the bottom rear instead of inside the unit.

The freezer won’t turn on. I plugged it less than a week ago and by now it is not working, and all the breast milk I had stored went bad. A total disappointment. I waited so long because I bought it when it was out of stock, so I wouldn’t have to buy an unfamiliar brand and wanted to get something “good” (because according to me, this brand was good). But it ended up worse because I lost my entire Breast Milk Bank, which I had worked so hard to build for months.The freezer is plugged into a working outlet. I’ve already unplugged the freezer’s power cord and plugged it back in. I’ve plugged another device into the same outlet to confirm it’s working. IT DOESN’T WORK AT ALL.

Whatever his name is, he deserves recognition for being great at his job AND just being a great human being!!!! There was never an opportunity to rate the delivery like there usually is.

This item arrived smaller than advertised. The height was not above 35 inches, but 32. The width was not above 38 inches, but 35 & the depth was not above 22 inches, but a little under it. On the other side… This product arrived without having any dents. It looked very nice & when it was plugged in, it got very cold very fast. So, I have no complaints other than the size was inaccurate.

Came with major dent on the corner. I was going to keep it anyway, however once I plugged it in, it started getting extremely hot just around the dented area. I returned.

It arrived in perfect condition. No shipping problems at all. I like the black finish for on the porch storage. The size is great–a little larger than I had previously.

Does exactly what it needs to do, but I should have gone with a bigger size.I originally bought it to store frozen meals but I filled it to the top in less than a day of meal prepping. I will admit math is not my strong suit so I wasn’t entirely sure how much space 3 cubic feet would give me but in hindsight the bigger size would have better suited my needs.Needless to say this freezer is sturdy, gets cold within 2 hours of being plugged in and can be used on a lower setting as a fridge or high setting for deep freeze. The only noise it makes is a slight click when it turns on but overall not noisy.I’m almost considering buying a second one because it’s so compact. I was able to carry it up my front staircase by myself (It only weights 35 lbs empty).As far as efficiency, I have notices my electricity bill go up around 5 dollars from the previous month but I have no evidence that is solely from the freezer.

We got this freezer as an extra one for the garage because the freezer section in our kitchen fridge just wasn’t enough. It’s compact buts surprisingly roomy. I can fit bulk meet, frozen meals, and snacks with no problem. The freezing quality is excellent, everything gets frozen evenly and stays solid, even after opening the lid a few times. It holds the cold well too, I noticed the ice cream stayed firm even after a short power outage. It runs quietly in the garage and doesn’t rattle or hum, and the overal build quality feels solid for the price. The handy top basket makes it easy to organize and access smaller items.

I’ve had this freezer for a few months now and works great as expected. It’s a slim model that fit into the one area I had for it. Use it mainly for dog food but it provides extra space for any extras I may need it for since my freezer is on the smaller side. No complaints.

I ordered this deep freezer due to it was small and something that I needed. I was very impressed as it said it would deliver between Sept. 30th and Oct.4th.The order arrived today, Sept. 27th. It was packaged great and I hate sending it back; however, this deep refrigerator looks refurbished and I brought it brand new.It has scratches all on it and it’s like it has a defect at the very top of it in the corner by the door.

Excellent freezer. Got this freezer for my wife’s ice packs she needs after knee surgery. Freezes them much better than our refrigerator freezer. Ease setup. Just level it and plug it in. Gets cold really fast. Looks great too! Don’t think you can do any better than this.

This is my second Whynter mini freezer. My first purchased several years ago is still reliably and wonderfully working, but I needed a second one for a guest room. I highly recommend this freezer. It is a great value for the money and keeps food frozen.

I got this for my daughter to keep in her dorm room at college. The school is fairly strict on power guidelines, but this mini freezer fit within them. It’s light enough that she can manage it herself when it needs deiced, but so far this school year it hasn’t iced up yet. The size is perfect for her and her roommate to keep frozen sandwiches, snacks and ice cream to help save on spending money on carry out when the dining halls are closed or when they only have a few minutes for something quick. This freezer will have more than paid for itself by the end of the school year. It works well, it’s a good value, and it’s great for small spaces. Highly recommended.

I chose this particular freezer because of the Energy Star rating. After reading the instruction book and safety warnings, I decided to install it under the counter in a 24 inch wide cabinet with the doors removed. It fits like a custom order.After waiting 4 hours for the refrigerant to settle, I plugged it in and set it to MAX as per instructions. After 3 hours it had reached a temperature of -10 degrees fahrenheit plenty cold enough, perhaps even a bit too cold for my ice cream products.It is very quiet but if you listen carefully you’ll be able to hear the compressor kick on and off, but you really need to be standing right next to it to hear anything so for me it definitely passes the quiet test.We are fully off grid so energy consumption played a big role in choosing this freezer. According to the handbook it draws 75 watts when the compressor is running which is for our needs great! I will keep an eye on it and will report back should the energy usage change.The freezer arrived in perfect condition (which was a concern of mine after reading so many reviews).My only surprise/complaint was the color of the “stainless steel” door. It looks almost bronze to me and it certainly isn’t even close to matching the other stainless steel appliances in our kitchen, or the other pics in various reviews on Amazon. I have written Whynter customer support to see if I am missing something.The product seems well made and as long as it continues to keep my food frozen I am very satisfied.

This freezer is a good solid little backup to have. We’ve been using it since we first bought it and plugged it in over 3 months ago. So far so good. Its the perfect size for our kitchen, it fits nicely in a corner, and its easy to move to another location if necessary. The stainless steel color exterior is easy to clean and looks nice too. This little freezer keeps everything truly frozen and runs efficiently. The lock is also an added bonus too.

The stop start was a little noisy at first but went away. I’ve had this for 4 years now it’s a great little freezer maintain zero F or a little less. Needs really to be defrosted once a year. Only downside after 4 years is the magnetic door gasket kind of lost a little bit of life and I had to reverse the door to make sure it stayed sealed but I just did that this year.

Perfect little freezer for breast milk! It’s compact, quiet, and keeps everything frozen solid without taking up much space. The 1.1 cubic feet size is just right for storing milk bags neatly and safely. Definitely recommend for new parents!

I rarely post a review, but have come to learn that the negative ones can be the most important ones and I sure wished I’d trusted them. Nobody, including myself, complains when something is working good. But it’s when a product breaks down that you find out just how good the manufacturer is.I am out of warranty, and I received the freezer as a gift for a brand new bar I had built in my home. I understand things don’t last forever, however, you would hope it would be more than a year and a half to two years. Maybe this unit should be advertised as “May work great for a long time, or may not make it much past the warranty! Buyer beware!!” Bet their sales would go way down….. So, upon contacting Whynter, they were more than polite both on the phone, as well as in their emails. After giving me a list of possible problems, I responded that none of them applied and that my freezer was cold, but not freezing. After several more emails back and forth, I truly believe they did not read them, or didn’t care, as when I finally responded: “Since you: “take all feedback seriously” and “all positive and negative feedback is reviewed by Senior Management”, let them know that I agree with the other reviewers that said Whynter customer service was polite but completely useless and there are other manufacturers that truly care about their customers. ” Their response was: Thank you for your reply. We apologize that the unit is not freezing and appreciate the feedback. We would be happy to begin troubleshooting with you despite the unit being out of warranty.” They went on to give me some of the same instructions that I had already told them didn’t work!No matter how negative my feedback was to them about my freezer quitting working after being in the exact same location and untouched, they would just reply with the same things to check that I had checked and told them two emails ago. Even after telling them: “you can close out my ticket, as I just ordered another freezer so I would have it in time for the super bowl this Sunday. I would be really upset if I waited another day or two emailing back and forth and not have a freezer for the game.” They again replied thanking me and telling me to troubleshoot the same issues!I really wish I’d paid more attention to the other one and two star reviews on Amazon. I really hope I can help someone that is looking for a freezer and point them away from this terrible product. Why can’t a company just say they’re sorry and do the right thing?? After all, if their product is as good as they say it is, replacing a bad one such as mine should be a rare occurrence……

Great, small sized unit that actually fits quite a lot in. We have a small apartment and this is a perfect way to stock up and store frozen meals.

Read up o the brand before placing my order. Highly recommended. Came extremely well packed; no chance of damage. Easy to unpack and put into place. Both of us are seniors and we unpacked and brought into our home by ourselves. It is outstanding in appearance and performance. We could not be more pleased and I would recommend this item to any and all. Groceries, especially meat products, are going up weekly. We will be able to pay for this freezer just by buying in small bulk amounts over a period of time during specials and sales. Got a turkey for instance day after I put this freezer in my home for 84 cents per pound. Been a long time since I saw that price on an upcoming Thanksgiving Day or Christmas event. This is a worthwhile buy all the way around.!

Working fine and a good price. Be advised that the freezer finish is protected during shipping by a plastic film that must be removed before using. It took about a hour to get it all off which wasn’t great.

I like this freezer. It’s the perfect size for what I need. I set it to zero degrees and it holds perfectly steady at that temp. I would have given it 5 stars except for one thing. The plastic film they wrap around the freezer for shipping is almost impossible to get off.

Product was delivered perfectly. It works great and the size is perfect. The setting on 5 is the perfect setting to get it -18* and after 24 hours no move in the temp. Very happy with this purchase and the Freeze Quality is amazing. I looked at other freezers and the Value for Money is perfect. It has NO NOISE LEVEL at all in the garage and looks great! I love this freezer. It arrived right on time, the size fits perfectly in my dining room. It holds so much stuff because it is very deep. Also, I setup this freezer up in like 5 minutes. The hardest thing to do was get it out the box. It is so easy to use and gets cold really fast.

After having this freezer for a couple of months, I have to say it’s absolutely perfect for storing extra frozen goods. It isn’t one of those overly large chest freezers that tend to take up too much space.

This is a very sweet unit! So far, it is working very well keeping temperature. Its small size makes it very unassuming, and it is also very quiet. My only quibble is that there is no place other than the bottom of the freezer that will accommodate standard ice trays. This isn’t much of a bother in the end, though. I bought this unit because the freezer on my refrigerator was on the blink. Now that this has been remedied, I no longer need to keep ice trays in this little freezer. I feel this was a good deal.

Decent depth and freezing power. Might hold a decent sized turkey, three with some creative butchering. It keeps my dog’s special food frozen just fine. It doesn’t have lasers, so that’s always 1 star off.

Runs nice and quiet. Unit doesn’t take up too much space. Lets see how long it will last.

Great freezer I purchased it for extra to keep ice cream in. There’s a lot of room it can hold a lot of boxes very deep. Freezes really good.

It’s pretty useless. Within a few days, it started building up lots of frost and food was getting freezer burned. So if you don’t want to be going through the hassle of defrosting it constantly, get something else.

This has been a good purchase for handling overflow from the kitchen fridge. I’ve had it for over a year and haven’t needed to defrost it (some build-up, but nothing major).Note that the instructions tell you to let it sit for a long period if it has been on its side (which you cannot know, since you don’t know what happened during shipping). A refrigerator repairman told me why: the lubricant can get into the wrong places instead of settling into the bottom of the compressor. Failing to be sure about that can lead to noise and compressor failure. So, unpack it and let it sit per the instructions before plugging it in.

For a tiny little freezer this thing hums along without fail.

The Chest Freezer is a space saver that holds quite a bit. Its volume is more than what was expected. Initially it was meant to be placed in the garage but because of its ergonomic size it is now in the kitchen.It is also saves on energy and I have not seen any major increase in my utility bill since having it for over four months.

It arrived with a small dent on the left side, but it runs well. It does make a quiet clicking sound that doesn’t seem to affect it’s operation. It’s small enough to fit in my laundry room and large enough to be an auxiliary frrezer holding the things I might want in the next couple of days. I expect it will minimize my trips to the large chest freezer in the basement.

It is so light that I can Easily slide this freezer by myself on my straight non-tile flat floor to my new spot of my choice.I am extremely happy that I have not miss out on this buying option. I wish I did try the advertisement ad picture of an extra cold fridge feel for carbonated bottled drinks. If I had, I would check the coldness with a thermometer before putting anything in it.

We have had our new freezer now for several months. We are very happy, it does not take up much room but has a lot of easy access room inside. Just plug it in and turn it on. Easy maintenance.

It’s a great. Perfect size for a small family that just needs a bit more freezer space. It’s compact, but you can put quite a bit in it. Mine is currently holding half of a “small” pig (in various cuts), and it still had extra space to move the fridge-freezer meats into the chest freezer. Baskets are very sturdy. Sturdier than I thought they’d be. For reference, one of the baskets is holding nine pounds of ground sausage. It’s impressive. Setting 3, maybe a little above, is really all you need.

I rarely write reviews but this unit is perfect for my needs. Purchased a Ninja Creami and the top baskets are the perfect size to hold the ice cream containers with plenty of storage below. It fits nicely in my laundry room and is very quiet. There is nothing not to like with this unit, but with confidence.
