  • Honestly, it’s worth it for beginners. Get ready for a long review ladies and gents.
I was really nervous about ordering this after reading the reviews, but my little brother wanted a guitar to start a new hobby during this pandemic. I didnt know if he’d really get into it or just throw it aside after two days, so I didnt want to get a top notch guitar that wont get the love it deserves. So I took the chance and here’s my honest review:The guitar itself- you can tell it’s not the greatest, but that being said it’s still very nice. I ordered the blue burst one and I am not disappointed. The strings- I think they took the other reviews into consideration because I had ordered nylon strings to put on instead of the strings it came with, but when I went to change them I realized they already had nylon strings on.The sound- it does produce a lower sound than normal, but not in a bad way. The only thing I couldn’t get over is that it’s not as loud as a guitar you would get from different brands. It didnt echo the way my friends Johnson acoustic does.Size- it’s a great size for a beginner, it’s not too bulky to where you can barely reach and it’s not too small to where you can reach a little too much if that makes sense.Playing- as far as playing goes, it does give off a nice sound like I said earlier, the only thing that sucks is that if it gets moved a little too rough, like lifting and then setting down on the knee it goes out of tune. Its relatively easy to tune it, but it can get a little annoying.Overall opinion- my little brother (he’s 13) adores it. He loves the color, he loves the sound, he’s currently sitting next to me playing a metallica song, and its staying in tune and sounds great. He gives it a 9/10 only because he said it’s a little harder to play on (pushing down strings on the fret) but he said whenever he plays on this and then plays our friends guitar, he’s already prepared for playing and it makes him that much more confident (I dont really know how to explain what he means by this) I give it an 8/10 for the reasons I’ve listed above. If you want to start playing guitar but dont know if you will stick with it, buy this guitar that way you dont waste money and you dont have a fancy guitar collecting dust.
  • Great guitar for noodling around
Great guitar for the price. Paid $54 plus tax, on a 15% off deal. Comes with strap, soft case, capo, tuner, picks, etc. Those alone are almost worth the 55 itself. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a strap button under the heel, which I didn’t notice in the picture. I wanted something I could just pick up and go whenever I get the impulse, and I also wanted to improve both hands, as I’ve been out of it for a while and need to relearn technique. Which the wide neck helps with. I’ve been playing for 20 years. Of course it isn’t perfect, you get what you pay for. But any good player can make it work. The intonation is surprisingly good as well. Action is good. It’s a great little guitar for a quick pick up and noodle. And perfect for beginners I’d say.
  • Great value for the money
40 + years ago I had a nice Martin acoustic guitar. Fiddled around with it a little bit but never got really serious. Long story short I ended up selling it and didn’t think much about guitar at all for decades. (I was a keyboard guy.)Fast forward to today (and another long story short) I found myself noodling around with an electric guitar (unplugged) while hanging out on the couch watching TV. I like to practice my chords and scales and so forth while doing it. My brother suggested that an acoustic would be much more suitable for that purpose. I’ve forgotten pretty much everything I once knew, so I am pretty much truly a beginner again lol.So, the search began… And I stumbled across this guitar. I wasn’t looking to spend a lot of money. (If you haven’t priced any instruments lately, it can be breathtaking how expensive they’ve gotten.) Again, I just wanted something that I could practice with very informally. And I didn’t want something big like a dreadnought because it would be too bulky for how I wanted to use it. This one looked great but it is definitely a basic, bare-bones guitar. Very suitable for my purposes. But my particular one had a problem: The action wasn’t right. Strings were way too close to the frets and so they buzzed at times. Extremely annoying.I did everything I could to try to ameliorate the situation but to no avail. Ended up taking it over to a local music store where it didn’t cost me much to have it fixed properly. Very reasonable.I then contacted the manufacturer for a refund for that repair. After providing them with a receipt, they were happy to oblige and reimburse me for it.This little Best Choice guitar is fine for people like me or beginners of any flavor. As others have noted the strings don’t like to stay in tune very well, but once they are appropriately stretched over time that issue vastly improves. (Strings are also cheap. So that’s another easy fix. I’m going to keep using mine until they give up the ghost and then I’ll change them out.) Initially, I had to bring them up over two octaves to proper pitch. (That should be done Very slowly to avoid potential string breakage. Patience is definitely a virtue here. You definitely want to make sure your kid, or anyone else, doesn’t crank away at the tuners to try to quickly get them in pitch.)It’s not a Martin by any stretch. But for what it is, it sounds and works fine. I wouldn’t hesitate to get another one if need be. The tuner that came with it works fairly well too. No complaints. Again, great value for the money.

  • Great starter guitar for my son
I bought this guitar as a Christmas gift for my nine-year-old son, who has recently shown a real interest in learning to play. He hasn’t used it yet since it’s only November, but based on the quality and how similar it is to the ones he’s tried before, I’m confident it’s going to be a perfect fit for him. It looks and feels like a great starter guitar. It’s well made, the right size, and perfect for a young beginner. I can’t wait to see his face on Christmas morning!
  • Great beginner guitar!
This beginner guitar set is absolutely amazing. I bought it for my daughter when she wanted to start learning, and she loved it from the moment she opened it. The sound is clear and warm, and the red color is beautiful in person. Everything that came with it was helpful, including the strap, tuner, and carrying bag.The guitar feels solid and plays nicely, not flimsy or cheap like some others we’ve tried before. It stays in tune well and has great tone for the price. My daughter practices almost every day now, and it makes me so happy to see how much she enjoys it. This is a perfect size for a kid. It is easy to hold, comes with extra strings, picks, and a tuner. Great value! My child loves it!!
  • Great kid starter
I wanted to buy a first guitar for a seven year old who is starting lessons. I was nervous about this as I wanted to get a real guitar rather than a toy and I was not sure that it was possible at this price. I was concerned that the quality could not be what I wanted. So I ordered it thinking there was a good chance I would return it and I’d have to spend about $ 125, which is the lowest price I’d found locally for something suitable. I was pleasantly surprised – it turned out to be the perfect guitar for the situation. Highly recommended.
  • Small but useful.
This is a cheap but decent starter guitar. The build and sound are surprisingly good for the price, and it’s great for beginners. The only downside is the size… it’s much smaller than we expected for our daughter. Even so, she really likes it and enjoys playing it. Good starter option, just make sure the size fits what you need.
  • Stayed in tune, sounds good
The media could not be loaded. Very surprised this actually held the tuning after being bagged and stored. I expected a tuning nightmare/..but surprised it actually sounds great and “so far” holds tune.I did break 2 strings on the first tuning, I suggest a new set {Ernie zball, Martin) something really good.Overall as a state for a young student this passed. Plus the digital tuner (included) is nice.
  • great sound
Exceptional guitar! A beautiful look and phenomenal sound. Perfect size as well
  • Not tunable
Do not buy this guitar. It sounds and looks great, but it can’t be tuned. Other people have noted this in their reviews, but I assumed that they either were not musicians, were inexperienced at tuning, or perhaps didn’t realize that new string go out of tune quickly until they stretch out. Actually, they knew what they were talking about. These guitars are not tunable. Teaching someone to play guitar on an instrument that can’t be tuned, is like teaching someone to drive using a car with poor wheel alignment and malfunctioning steering.• I bought two 38″ guitars, a blue and a sunburst version. Both had the same problems. If the strings are in-tune when they are open (no chord being fingered) then they will be out of tune when a chord is fingered. If you tune the guitar so that a particular chord is in-tune, then when the strings are strummed while open (no fingers pressing down on them) they will be out of tune. This appears to be due largely to the excessively high action (height of strings over the fret board) of the guitar. When a string is pressed to the fret board, it stretches more than it should, changing the pitch inordinately. I think there are other contributing factors as well, perhaps the frets are slightly misaligned, but I can’t say with certainty. It would not add to the manufacturing cost to eliminate these problems. It is simply a question of basic design and precision.• Excessively high action (height of strings over the fret board) makes fingering chords more difficult. Even for me, playing certain barre chords close to the nut (top of the neck) was a challenge. Standard chords that children will be taught first are all playable, but slightly more difficult than they should be, especially for little hands.• Sound quality, or tone as some people refer to it, is very good. I was surprised. While the guitar does not sound like a Martin (gold standard), it has a bright, snappy sound with plenty of resonance and overtones. It is a steel string guitar (instead of nylon like many starter guitars) and this makes a big positive difference. I enjoyed playing it in this regard. Given the price, it is excellent. I believe that the people who complain about the tone of the guitar, are really hearing the dissonance of poor tuning. If the guitar is tuned perfectly for a single chord, which is possible, it sounds great—pretty cool actually.• The paint jobs are great for kids. They are bright, colorful, and shiny. There are a few minor blemishes and imperfections, but so what. Given the price, they are wonderful.• Electronic digital tunero Looks nifty, but it is not high quality. After tuning with it, I still needed to make small adjustments by ear. Not a good situation for a beginner player, but probably it is fine. To be fair, a Peterson electronic tuner (gold standard) costs as much as this guitar.o After turning it on, the user must select from chromatic, violin, guitar, bass, and ukulele. It remembers the selection the next time it is turned on, but it is easy to change the selection inadvertently. This is a poor design for children. But almost all tuners are like this. It is an inexpensive way for the manufacturer to provide value. Practically speaking, it is just a nuisance. Most people buy a tuner for a single instrument.o The single control button is extremely awkward and difficult to locate and press. Just a bad design.o Before it can be used, a paper tab needs to be removed from the battery. When the tab is pulled (to remove it) it rips, leaving in the battery compartment paper which still must be removed to activate the device. This happened on each tuner that came with the two guitars I bought. A very, very tiny Phillips head screw locks the battery compartment door. A jeweler’s screwdriver is needed to remove it.• Pitch pipe does not work well at all. A horrific little device, it is difficult to get sound from it. Looks like something they threw-in in a desperate and misguided attempt to compensate for the fact that the guitar cannot be tuned properly.• The guitar comes with a single instruction page (front and back) of useful information, which includes valuable instruction about traditional ways to tune a guitar. While well done, one gets the feeling that it is again a desperate and misguided attempt to compensate for the fact that the guitar cannot be tuned properly. Bizarrely, one side of the page also contains diagrams for fingering many different barre chords. Barre chords are for advanced players. Diagrams of basic chords that beginners need to learn first would be far more useful.• One must conclude that the people who are satisfied with these guitars and don’t return them are themselves not musicians, or don’t have a good ear for music. Even an amateur musician should deem these guitars unacceptable.
  • Mediocre Beginner Guitar – Fit for Learning the Basics of Guitar Playing
This guitar is good for deciding if you want to commit to learning guitar. The strings and everything work just fine, so one can learn fingerstyle playing and chords, however, the strings are rather buzzy, and in addition with a high action guitar such as this, it is harder on the fingers to play.I used this guitar frequently for about 7 months before deciding that I would like to upgrade to an actual name brand guitar (like Fender, Ibanez, or Rogue). When I would put a regular capo on any fret of the guitar, the low E bass note would become flat, however, with no capo, the string would perform just fine. I went to a guitar center to ask about it, and they hadn’t even heard of this brand of guitar.Final Verdict:Yes, the guitar is good value of money if you are looking to see if a guitar would be the right pursuit for you. Looks-wise, the guitar looks nice with a mix of basic and elegant. However, I’d only recommend buying this guitar if you are looking to see if guitar is the right fit for you. If you are looking to buy a guitar that will last you a while, you are better off looking elsewhere as this guitar is better for a trial run rather than a long-term commitment.

  • Pink! Too cute, perfect for a little girl.
Brought it for my little girl. A great beginner guitar.
  • Great deal! Color is darker than in the picture.
We got this for our daughter for her 8th birthday and purple is her favorite color. The guitar is nice, but the color is way darker than the picture. The picture is more of a magenta or fuschia purple, but in reality, it’s a dark violet. The case sucks and reminds me of something I’d get at a dollar store. (No judgements, I shop at the Dollar Tree, but for a guitar you want better quality) It does include all that you see in the picture though, so that’s nice, especially the extra strings, which is great, because nylon stretches over time. All in all, I’d say it’s a good deal for the price. Perfect for a kid just starting out.
  • Great starter guitar
Gift for my granddaughter, she loves it. Definitely perfect size for a 5 year old starter
  • good price
    value for money
  • narrow bridge (small string spacing) ->bad for adult players
An okay guitar for kids. Bad for any adults. 1) String spacing is small: The bridge is significantly narrower than a standard guitar (~1.5in instead of ~2.0in), so it is very easy to accidentally touching/muting other strings. This might just be typical thing for smaller guitar, for kid guitar. Maybe I shouldn’t fault it too much. However, the point is it is totally not suited for any adult who doesn’t have baby hands~ 2) The strings only has 2 kinds of thickness. This means some strings are too loose and others too tight. This just make the guitar sound bad. It also creates problems like loose string hitting things and make buzz sound. 3) The tuning still drifts a lot even after ~6 playing sessions. I don’t know if this is normal.
  • Guitar
Perfect for a youngsters first guitar
  • Rock star in the making…
The description was spot on. This was purchased for my 3 year old granddaughter, and she loves it, The guitar is a good size for her. She loved to strum daddy’s guitar that was as big as she is, but now has one she walks around with and has her own little jam sessions!

What Customers Say:

  • An excellent guitar, very playable despite what people may say
This guitar is the cheapest Fender Stratocaster that you could buy. Looking at other brands that have a similar guitar that’s cheaper or at the same price. I think Fender has managed to make something that is decent and playable right out of the box, whereas other brands make guitars that require massive setup right out of the box with high action issues with staying in tune. If you’re going to get a entry-level beginner guitar then you should definitely get this one instead of anything cheaper or other brands. Fender definitely knows what they’re doing. I didn’t have any issues with the guitar. When it arrived, the action was set properly. The intonation seems to be good and the guitar definitely stayed in tune even though the strings were new. Haven’t really replaced the strings because I didn’t feel that it was necessary and a couple months I’ll probably swap them out for some D’Addarios. Overall, I plan to slowly upgrade and mod this guitar because even though it does play and sound great, there’s a lot of cheap hardware that could be easily upgraded for not too much more. Overall, this is a great instrument for a beginner. A cheap guitar is not the only thing that a beginner needs. They also need a guitar that doesn’t require setup out of the box unless they’re willing to learn that sort of thing, which is a little bit intimidating for some new players. And if you’re willing to mod your guitar to save a little bit of money, it is a great modding platform. The only slight issue I have with it is that I ordered the black color and even though the pickguard is supposed to be white, it seems to have a slight tinge of a red Hue that’s extremely subtle. It’s just weird looking. It seems like they were trying to make it fully white and then some kind of dye or powder from another guitar got on it or something. I honestly cannot tell you why but it just looks a little bit reddish and I don’t know why. Hopefully I in the future can replace it with like a more white looking pickguard.
  • Amazing value and sound. Beautiful.
I paid like $159 for a Stratocaster. It sounds great to a new player of guitar.Been meaning to learn to play my whole life, I got this and a 5w spark mini amp, a music teacher and professional blues musician both recommended it.It looks beautiful, also it’s cool.1. High build quality2. Tuned and just learning3. Size is a proper Stratocaster, any guitar, right for me though.4. I got the spark mini as my amp which is perfect for my use. Any amp will work.5. I got the bare guitar but it had good strings.6. I’m a student so can’t rank playability.I have been meaning to learn guitar for 29 years, Stratocaster made the perfect setup for an apartment dweller, and I think this is a perfect guitar for a student. It fits in a case, I keep it on a stand in the corner, I tried a keyboard so it’s super portable by contrast. Normal sized guitar.
  • Now that I adjusted it, it’s a fantastic guitar for the price.
I wanted to be 100% in love with this guitar and have it be playable right out of the box, and write a rave review. But unfortunately, that was not the case. This was not a guitar that had been returned to Amazon. You could tell it was brand new and never had been opened. When I first saw the color in person, I said WHOA. I love Squier Strats, especially red ones. I actually prefer them over the Fender Strats. I have way too many of them as it is, so when these first came out, I told myself I didn’t need another one. But I kept seeing the reviews on YouTube. Not a single person did not rave about this guitar for the price. There may have been something here and there that was a little off, but they all couldn’t believe the quality for the price point. I was also impressed by the matte finish. Alas, I am a sucker for a red Squier. I also figured maybe in time it would be one of those collector item guitars like some of the older Squiers are. So I said screw it, you only live once, Christmas present for myself, things are going to cost more from China very soon, and every other excuse I could think of, and ordered it. Going by the pictures, I wasn’t impressed with that particular shade of red, but hey, it was red.I let it acclimate in the box indoors for 24 hours, like I usually do.When I finally pulled away the foam bag, I stood still and looked at it, and I really think my mouth was hanging open. I was blown away. None of the pictures do the color justice. It’s a beautiful, deep matte burgundy red, like a wine red. It is gorgeous. They didn’t cheap out on the pickguard like they did with the Sonic series, and just give it a plain white pickguard. This pickguard has the black stripe in it, which gives this guitar just such a beautiful accent. Some people here complained about the frets being sharp. I could see a couple here or there that I could pretty much even take down with a nail file if I wanted to. Nothing that would ever scratch me, or beginner, or a child with this guitar. Here’s where things went south quickly. I tuned it up and plugged it in. Every string buzzed. It was not playable at all. Upon further inspection I saw that the truss rod had been left tightened all the way from the factory. A little loosening of the truss rod took care of most of the buzzing. I tuned it up again. The intonation was off on the low E and A and the low E still slightly buzzed. Some more tweaking and finally it was playing the way it was supposed to be.I can tell you that this guitar is light. It’s thin. The pickups sound good. The fret ends are fine. The fretboard is really pretty and smooth. The tuners hold tune well. The knobs and switches work just fine. But if I was a beginner and this was my first guitar, and I didn’t know anyone who knew anything about guitars, I would not have known what to do. I would have been even more disappointed than I was. Because of the rave reviews of this guitar, I am sure the one that I got was just a fluke. If anyone got it, I’m glad it was me because it was fixed in 5 minutes. But had I gotten this as a gift for a kid, I would have been really upset for the kid.Yes, I could have returned it, but I like working on guitars anyway. If you know your way around guitars and are getting this for a kid, grab one. It’s a great guitar. I would definitely get it for someone, but also tell them if there’s anything weird about it to let me know. Do I regret buying this? No way. I love the guitar. Just on the day that mine was made, someone in China was having a bad day.
  • Amazing value, amazing guitar
A legitimate Fender guitar for the price of a cheap clone, that is legitimately amazing! I own a couple cheap guitars that cost as much as this Fender Squire, but the difference in build quality is amazing. This thing feels and plays like butter, and aside from tuning the strings, the setup as near as I can measure it is spot on. The string height, neck adjustment, and intonation were perfect. The attention to detail is evident in everything from the way the strings are wound on the tuners, to the design and manufacture of something like the string tree, which all the cheap guitars get horribly wrong. Plays great, sounds great, looks great, and it’s a real Fender for the price of a clone. What’s not to love.

  • Amazing Value for Beginners! (5/5 Stars)
As someone just starting their guitar journey, finding the right instrument can be overwhelming. I did a lot of research and decided to take a chance on this Best Choice electric guitar for beginners, and I could not be happier with my decision!First off, the value for money is incredible. You get a surprisingly well-built guitar that looks great and feels solid, especially for its price point. It doesn’t feel like a cheap toy; it feels like a legitimate instrument that you can grow with. It’s incredibly easy to play right out of the box. The action (the height of the strings from the fretboard) was good, making it much easier for my beginner fingers to press down chords without buzzing or excessive strain. The neck feels comfortable in my hand, which is crucial when you’re spending hours practicing. The sound quality is more than adequate for learning. Through my small practice amp, it produces a clear, versatile tone that works well for a variety of genres. It holds its tuning surprisingly well too, meaning less time spent tuning and more time spent playing. For any aspiring guitarist, having an instrument that encourages practice rather than frustrates it is key, and this guitar absolutely does that. It’s not intimidating, it sounds good, and it feels comfortable. It’s the perfect entry point into the world of electric guitar without breaking the bank. Highly, highly recommend for any beginner!
  • Great starter kits for not a lot of money
FIRST – This is not a a paid review. I received no compensation nor discount for this product. I bought it, I tried it, I liked it, I rated it here.In August of 2016 I had a brain fart, “lets buy the boys guitars for Christmas” . We have 7 Grand-kids. the 4 boys came first, then 2 sweet little girls, and one still in the oven.I decided to buy one of these kits just to see if they were any good. WOW was I impressed. I have several guitars and I have play professionally ( and on worship tams for free) so I know what I want a guitar to sound like and feel like and play like. These knock off Stratacasters were just the ticket. After getting the first test guitar set up and tuned and after playing it for about an hour ( I like to play when the guitar is in tune) I ordered 2 more of these kits (2 blue, 1 green per the boys preference) and one junior kit for the youngest boy >RED Junior Kids Mini 3/4 Electric Guitar Amp Starter Pack, Guitar, Tremolo, Amplifier, Gig Bag, Strap, Cable, & DirectlyCheap(TM) Translucent Blue Medium Guitar PickSnark SN-5 Tuner for Guitar, Bass and Violin< and a pack of extra picks. My preference are standard size, medium to thin and if you can find the ones that aren't smooth they will be less likely to slip out of your fingers. As a player and former performer I recommend these units as a great way to get anyone started in playing music with very little expense. If you are not sure about doing the set up your self you can probably find someone in your local area to do this for you at reasonable cost.If you are in my area send me a message and we will see what we can do.In short these are well worth the money to invest in someones musical future!!!!!N8ACU
  • Amazing starter guitar package, I love it
I’ve had this guitar for 11 days (counting today) and I love it. Definitely agree with everyone, restring your guitar as soon as possible because the replacement strings that they give you sound so much better than what the old ones that were already on. The process is easy, just take the back panel off, removing the 6 screws, and watch some Youtube videos on how to string your guitar. It helps. I didn’t like how the whole package came with 2 Allan Wrenches because what am I going to use them for? Every bolt in my guitar is a screw, not a hexagon shaped screw. You need a screwdriver. >.>Whatever, great guitar to start off with.Whole package came with: 6 string electric BC guitar (22 frets), 1 thick black pick, strap, whammy bar, chord to plug into your amp, extra pair of strings, case (not a hard case though), 10W amp, and 2 small Allen Wrenches. The amp is cool to start off with but I definitely need to upgrade to a better amp. I personally wanted to add a bit of distortion to the guitar but I need a pedal if I want to do that, or get a better amp that has that feature in it. The sound that comes to my headphones that’s plugged into the amp doesn’t sound quite right.Overall I think this is a great thing to buy if you are a guitar player just starting out or want a great deal on everything. I gave it 4 stars mainly because of the Allen Wrenches, old strings, amp sounds a bit off, and I should have started with an acoustic guitar. Not because of the stereotype where people say, “You need to start with acoustic!” Not that, its because the songs I wanted to learn first probably sounds better on acoustic rather than electric guitar. But definitely restring your guitar soon, it makes a hell of a difference.

  • Perfect starter guitar for your kiddo!
Ordered this as a precursor to getting my daughter a Squire Mini Strat, and i am IMPRESSED by this. Although it does need a few changes, its still a really great product for someone who wants their kids to seriously learn an instrument.Took it out the box and set up the action/intonation on it and changed the strings out for some Ernie Ball Zippy Slinkys. Make sure you tune this to A if youre keeping the original strings, the Ernie Balls handle E tuning abit better (remember to always stretch out new strings). The amp isnt bad but it isnt good, but for the purpose of use it functions great! The single coil is abit microphonic and has alot of background chatter, but after hooking it up to my pc using amp modeling software with a good noise gate, it sounded pretty bluesy. The chord, strap, and guitar case are abit on the flimsy side but the price point kinda explains it (compared to a squire mini strat package that goes for 299-359). Overall 0 complaints on build quality and sound, but would definitely take the time to adjust it out of the box (as you should with ANY guitar regardless of price point).
  • Quality
    Good product
  • Good For Beginner
I bought this set for my daughter after she asked to learn guitar. I decided this should be a good fit for her to explore if she truly enjoys the guitar. Received the set quickly and everything was included as advertised. The guitar is of decent quality for the price. The amp is small and is battery power only which is my only dislike so far. Works well and would be great for traveling or practicing with others. Great starter set. Recommend to any parent looking for a “test set” for their kids so they can try it out without a large investment into equipment that might sit in a corner.
  • Worth the price
Very satisfied with purchase only complaint was the box it was shipped in was flimsy and damaged but the item in the box was wrapped securelyJust wanted to give as a Christmas gift inside the box I’ll have to make other arrangements
  • Incredible quality for the price point
I was worried that I was going to receive a toy instead of something real that my kid could genuinely learn how to play with. When I took the guitar out of that package I was impressed! It’s lightweight which is perfect for my recently turned 4 year old. The string height was perfect, the base was the right size for a kid, and it’s fully functional – very good buy.
  • Don’t do it
I received this item and while the guitar looked decent (the sound box looked cheap) it didn’t work. The sound box would turn on but no sound would come out. I contacted the company to see if I could just get a replacement box….. they gave me the run around and now my son has an electric guitar that doesn’t work. If you are looking at this guitar because of the price, go ahead and invest in a better quality electric guitar.
  • Cute, definitely a starter, not durable
Bought this for my grandson as a Christmas gift, but it was smaller than expected and the amp sounded awful. The strings break easily, so it’s not very durable. Looks cute, but definitely not built for serious play—better for very casual beginners or as a novelty.
  • Good gift!
Great gift for my grandkid, love his guitar!

  • Excellent Sound and Robust Build. A Starter Kit That’s Worth It.
I am genuinely impressed with this Fender Dreadnought guitar. For a starter kit, the quality exceeds expectations. The first thing that stands out is the sound: it’s clear, bright, and has great resonance. It feels and sounds like a much higher-category instrument. The build quality is also very good; the guitar feels solid, the finishes are well-done, and it’s comfortable to play.Overall, I really like the main instrument. As for the kit’s accessories, the included picks are much appreciated so you can start playing right away. The strap is functional and gets the job done, although if I had to mention one point of improvement, I’d say it could be of slightly better quality to match the guitar itself.
  • Great instrument
Been playing this thing regularly for about a year now, great instrument, would’ve been great for learning, great for chicken picking. All notes play clearly, Intonation isn’t incredible, action is slightly high, but meh it cost less than groceries.
  • Great Job Fender!
Bought on 3 monthly payments. Solid feel in construction. Plays well. The guitar has brand new strings on it . Tune it several times play a few chords progressions then tune some more . Now after that the guitar stays in tune like a normal guitar. Feels great and plays well. Comes with Alan key to adjust the truss rod. Highly recommend. Great job Fender!
  • Great guitar with great sound.
This guitar is very well made. Fenders are great guitars. Two teens have learned to play very well on this nice acoustic instrument. The price is amazing.
  • I like it
It’s a good beginner guitar the strings are a little high so you have to press down harder other than that it’s really good and durable dropped it like 3 times and it didn’t scratch it ????
  • The best
I got this as a travel guitar and it’s become my favorite. I hardly use my fancy full size with steel strings anymore. So happy I gifted myself this.
  • Perfect for beginners
Great sounding guitar, perfect for a beginner. Might need to change the strings out for the first time player
  • Awesome beginner guitar
The guitar is well made for the price point. Tone is good and isn’t needing retuned at each practice. The strings are good and are plenty good for a beginner. I might put on some better string in the future. It is what you would expect of a Fender product. It arrived very well packaged.I’m thinking of getting one of these for my grandson.

  • 20+ years playing – this is a fine instrument
First off – this does not come set up in any way shape or form. If you are not familiar with guitars and buy this for a child please know that it’s not a horrible instrument just because the strings come loose. The first thing I did is replace the strings – I got the nylon version and nylon strings are notorious for taking forever to stretch out to their final length. Another thing to be aware of – the guitar going out of tune with brand new strings is not the guitar’s fault – that’s just the nature of classical guitars and since it wasn’t setup or tuned from the factory it’s going to take a while after you get it for it to stay in tune because the strings are stretching out slowly. I pick the guitar right up by the strings and bounce it a bit to help stretch things out when I change nylon strings.Second, this is a 70 dollar guitar, manage your expectations.I have about 10 different stringed instruments in my possession in varying qualities. I’ve bought cheaper instruments when I was planning on spending a chunk of money because the cheaper instruments can sometimes play and sound much better. You don’t need to spend a massive amount of money for a solid instrument – and frankly the Pyle brand is pretty excellent for the cost. I own a bunch of their microphones and they are pretty epic honestly. I’ve had people listen to my podcast and tell me how impressed they are with my sound quality and think I’m using 100$+ microphones – and I’m finding the same with the guitar quality.Good tuners, decent bridge, it’s really not bad.The finish is not great though – if you are purchasing an instrument for aesthetics this probably isn’t for you. They put some weird coating on the fret board that was already flaking off when I got it – though I bought this as a beater guitar so I really don’t care. There was also cracking in the finish at the bottom of the guitar. None of this affects playability or sound – so I don’t care.I bought some fun fret marker stickers since this doesn’t have any inlays, and the new strings I bought are funky colors. It looks pretty awesome for the 90$ I spent in total with the strings and inlay stickers. It sounds good. It feels great in my hands. I can toss this one in the car or put it on the floor and I couldn’t care less if it gets scratched – money well spent.
  • Good guitar for a beginner
Good guitar for a beginner, just the right size for my 6yo son. Easy to tune and play. Need to occasionally retune.
  • Good for Beginner Kids
Gets the job done. Some of the cosmetic details aren’t fantastic but seems decent enough for a beginner guitar.
  • Great first guitar
    Perfect starter
  • Not bad for price
Perfect for what we needed it for, daughter loves it
  • Not great
Not good if u want to get into full time, but if u just want to use is evert once in awhile then its good
  • UPDATED 3/6/2022: READ ME! Not as bad as people say! people just love to complain.
READ THIS IF YOU’RE CONSIDERING BUYING THIS GUITAR!!! I bought this used – very good for 45 bucks about a year ago. I probably would not pay full price, as much as I love it. That being said, IT IS NOT JUNK GIVE IT TIME! I swear half the people leaving negative reviews have no idea how guitars work. I am a full grown adult guitar player, and I’ve been playing since high school. I’m in college now, and I needed something small and light to travel with. I DON’T USE THIS AS MY EVERYDAY GUITAR! I reach for this guy if I’m messing around with chords, my fingers hurt from my metal strings, or I’m just trying to relax. It’s great to practice on, but not so much if you’re trying to actually play in front of people. Nylons aren’t meant to be used like metal stringed acoustics, they’re a separate instrument! It still works for that purpose, though, you can play the same exact songs and chords. If you tune it properly it gets the job done. Great for my college dorm or throwing in the car for a camping trip cus it’s super light. Great to practice on when I don’t feel like lugging my full sized acoustic around. This is a decent product for the price I PAID. Being a nylon string guitar, you have to stretch the strings and tune it quite a bit (2-4 days is recommended for the strings to settle – watch a youtube tutorial on how to do it) Furthermore, the plastic strings that everyone complains about are standard on a nylon. Heck, the C40 from Yamaha, well established nylon, has the same type (but higher quality, I bet) if I recall. They do go out of tune pretty frequently, especially at the start, but it’s not even that much – just retune them! The tuner works well for me, but if you don’t like it, just get an app like GuitarTuna. Now, for the guitar itself, it’s what I expected when I bought it for 45 bucks, barely even damaged since I got a higher quality used (or less damaged I guess) version, and I have to say, it has really grown on me. Guitars are instruments, not toys. You can’t give it to a kid and expect them to learn the ins and outs. If you really want them to learn guitar, buy them a cheap acoustic like a rogue or Yamaha, a C40 is a great nylon but you could also get them a metal string, and get them lessons! Find a music store near you, it might be a bit pricey but it’s the best way to learn. Originally I recommended swapping the strings, but it’s not worth it to be honest. I got it back in 2021 for 45 USD used, and I love it for what I use it for. If you’re dead-set on a cheap starter guitar, or you want an affordable spare, grab this but follow my advice. If you really want to learn, shell out the extra money and buy a tried and true brand. For the full price, 80 bucks is not worth it. Get a rogue for that money. Anyway, that’s my rant, hope this helps! (I even bumped my review up from 4 to 5 stars – when I first wrote it, it was 1 star because I didn’t understand stretching the nylon strings – IT TAKES TIME! but I genuinely love this thing!) Enjoy!

  • How sturdy and the sound is great.
This is really a quality children’s guitar. She wants to learn, and this comes with everything she needs to get started. I had her name put on it. It’s fabulous.
  • Great beginner guitar
I bought this for my 4 year old grandson who has suddenly started showing an interest by joining our worship team. ???? He is playing along with them the best he can and getting better everyday. I accidentally bought 2 so we leave one at church and one at home. If he keeps showing interest I will get him lessons. It is a great beginner guitar.
  • Nice gift for 7yo
My nephew enjoys just wished it was cheaper.
  • Music
    Love it
  • Has difficulty maintaining tune; case smells strongly of either PVC or formaldehyde
Nice kit altogether, but it has problems holding tune. Have to retune it every few minutes. The case smells horrible, we had to put it outside as it smelled up the whole room with some sort of horrible chemical smell like PVC or formaldehyde, not sure which…It did come with a spare set of strings (nice), a tuning device that works well (nice) and a capo (nice). If I can find a way to tighten the tuning retention, it’ll be better. Not sure that case will ever stop outgassing though.
  • Nice size and decent quality
It looks good enough for a kid. Bought for my grandson’s 5th birthday in October. He’ll love it!
  • It’s a toy
Toys are for babies and this is a toy. Beginners should not start with a toy guitar. My son is autistic and loves to play on his dads guitar but it is way too big so I thought I’d buy this one that states it has steel strings like a real guitar but it partially does. 3 steel and 3 nylon. He has a ” toy” one already that I bought from Walmart for only $30. This one is just like the one from Walmart. The sound quality is bad compared to a real size one and I didn’t expect the exact quality but at least something close. He likes the sound of the steel strings so this is just a waste of time and and a disappointing birthday gift for a kid who wants to play a real guitar especially if they have been playing on a full size one they will not like this. I’m going to return and get a real size one I guess. I thought there was a smaller guitar with real steel strings I’ve seen before but this is not it.. I would not pay this price for a toy when I can get it much cheaper and get same Quality as this. They should at least state that some strings are not steel because it gives a false idea about what kind of quality guitar you are getting when it says strings are made of steel. When it should say steel/ nylon material. It’s pretty, that’s all.

  • Mine had no major issues and was set to spec
Here is a quick rundown. I received this on 11/29/2024. It was set to spec as far as the neck relief and string height. The tuners worked smoothly and held the tuning. The strings as fine. No sharp fret ends and the frets were highly polished. Confortable neck shape. The pickup switch felt and worked well and the tone and volumes were smooth. The output jack was properly tightened and works well. The pickups sounded just fine and the pieces aligned under the strings just as vintage ones do. It sounds very good unplugged. The trem arm screws in properly but the trem took a lot of pressure to work. This is really no issues and I am sure they did this to keep it in tune. If you are new to Strats, the vintage trem rarely ever stood in tune, don’t use the trem as it is really for show in most Strats. In the real world it takes a lot of skill and know-how to get a Strat trem to work properly and costs more than the guitar to setup, which I am telling you will be impossible anyway. These are set with the rear decked on the body so it returns to tune meaning you can only go down. If you are learning you should learn to play for real and not be a poser playing with the trem. Leave the trem arm in the bag. There is nothing needed to be done or replaced to have a good guitar to learn on. It appears the price is so low as to be get you started and updating the phone app and taking lessons online and later buying a more expensive guitar, that is where they plan to profit. The guitar is like an when you buy a low cost inkjet printer for very little money and have to buy their ink forever. Is the guitar worth it ? Absolutely. Also buy a $30 or so case to keep it in might be a good idea. Realize if you are buying this for a gift for someone to learn on, most new players quit as they rather stare at their phone or play a video game so buying a low cost guitar is a good idea. The 2-year warranty is worth more than the guitar alone. Be careful removing the plastic on the pickguard and pickups, the pickguard plastic is very soft and scratches easily. After a few days I decided that the nut needed to be filed slightly for each string so I took care of that. I also lowered the action lower than Fender specs to 4mm with no buzzing. None of these things were out of the ordinary for a new Strat guitar. I am very happy with this guitar. After a few months after being too dry in my house the fretboard did shrink somewhat making for fret sprout (sharp frets past the edge of the fretboard. Fret sprout is not uncommmon even in much more expensive guitars. So I filed the edges and polished the frets when I was at it and put a set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9-43 (2223). Guitars are made of wood and wood is affected by moisture. That’s life. I am still happy with the guitar. If you are just learning it is unlikely you will be running you hand up and down the neck so it may not matter at all if there is some fret sprout. It was not really that bad when it happened.
