What Customers Say:

  • Wifi Extender Really Delivered!
I bought the TP-Link AC1200 WiFi Extender because my router is in the basement and I needed reliable WiFi out in my detached pole barn — and this extender absolutely delivered. Setup was quick and simple, and within minutes I had a strong, stable signal reaching all the way outside. The dual-band connection makes a noticeable difference, and the speeds are much better than I expected for the distance. It’s no surprise this made the 2025 Wirecutter Best WiFi Extender list — it works incredibly well. If you have dead zones or a building outside your home that needs coverage, this is a fantastic, affordable solution.
  • Great for anyone that wants to buy it; Good coverage and fats WIFI speeds
I’ve been using my TP-Link product for about a year now, and I can confidently say it has exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I set it up, the installation process was quick and straightforward — the instructions were clear, and the TP-Link app made the entire setup smooth and effortless.I currently use it upstairs to connect several of my everyday devices, especially my PC, and the performance has been fantastic. The multi-device connectivity is strong and consistent, with no lagging or dropouts even when multiple devices are streaming or online at the same time. I’ve noticed a major improvement in Wi-Fi coverage and speed, especially in areas of my home that used to have weaker signals. The TP-Link app is another big plus — it’s very user-friendly and allows me to monitor and manage my network easily, from checking connection strength to adjusting settings with just a few taps. It’s clear that TP-Link put a lot of thought into both the design and functionality of this product. After a full year of daily use, it still works just as well as the day I bought it. The build quality feels premium and durable, and it’s been completely reliable with zero issues so far. Overall, I’m extremely happy with my purchase. TP-Link has truly created a product that combines performance, reliability, and smart design. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking to improve their home Wi-Fi network!
  • Finally Cured My Upstairs Dead Zone!
I was getting so frustrated with the Wi-Fi in our upstairs bedroom. It was a total dead zone where video calls would drop constantly and streaming would buffer endlessly. I picked up the TP-Link RE315 hoping for a simple fix, and it absolutely delivered. Setup was shockingly easy; I used the Tether app on my phone and had it up and running in less than ten minutes. The signal indicator light is a great feature that helped me find the perfect outlet halfway up the stairs for the best performance. Now, we have full bars upstairs and can stream in HD without any issues. I even plugged our old smart TV into the ethernet port, and it feels faster than ever. My only minor complaint is that since I don’t have a TP-Link OneMesh router, it creates a separate extended network. This means sometimes I have to manually switch my phone’s WiFi to the extender’s network when I go upstairs. It’s not a huge deal, but not quite seamless. For the price, however, it’s an incredible value and solved a major headache for us. Highly recommended for targeting specific weak spots in your home.
  • Great
Setup was quick and easy, the connection is strong and reliable, and the app makes it super simple to manage my network. I’ve noticed faster speeds and no more dropouts. Definitely recommend TP-Link to anyone looking for dependable Wi-Fi equipment
  • Wireless dead spots no more!!!
If you have an xfinity gateway, this works. I tried a google mesh, xfinity extender, other gadgets galore and this little cheap doo hickey worked better than all of them. It took five minutes to set up. My gateway is recessed in a media center upstairs so the wireless signal in the front of the home was just ok. Now, full strength and wifi lights outside are happy! A really high quality effective wifi extender solution at a beyond reasonable price.
  • So much better – and easy to connect
If you need a better signal in the back bedroom or workshop – grab this gizmo. Our primary bedroom is about 35-40 feet away from our router / access point. The signal is weak, so we’ve been using the TP Link booster we bought in 2021. The booster improved the signal a tiny bit, but my wife connection was always weak, sometimes it just didn’t work. With the new model – WOW!! Strong Signal in the entire apartment, and in the back bathroom for tunes in the shower. We’re always connected, the signal is strong, and it’s great for our space. Highly recommend for a strong signal 40 feet away from your access point. You’ll need to get the Tether App and set up an account. I would say it took about 10 minutes to go through the whole download, set up, connect and enable process. I found it easy and to do, used my account that I had set up 4 years ago. I don’t imagine using the app interface again, unless I change the PW on my router. We are using this device in South America, so the power is 220V and it works like a charm.I’m sure there’s bigger, faster, pricier models out there, but for our space, this guy is a winner.
  • Better than nothing
With the proper placement this roughly double the lowest wifi speed I got in my house. The build quality is alright, but good for the price. The signal strength is slightly better than my ISP provided router, and increases coverage/range a reasonable amount. While the setup was a little time consuming this was 100% worth the price. This is definitely better than using a single cheap router without any extenders if you are trying to service a larger area for cheap.the review I left on the tp-link site:The setup process was fairly easy, took a few attempts to find a good location for it, but it has doubled the wifi speed, from what I was getting. The speed and stability have improved quite a lot. The only issue I have is the account requirement for the app, but the app from what I understand isn’t a hard requirement, the next router I get will likely be tp-link as well so that I can use the easy mesh system.

What Customers Say:

  • Fast & Easy-To-Use!
Edit 11/21/2025:I periodically like to perform check-ins on my previous reviews. Over 3 years later I am happy to say this thing still works flawlessly. Haven’t encountered a single hiccup. Very consumer friendly and is truly “set it and forget it”.—————–First off I need to mention that Amazon asked me to rate 3 “features”: ‘WiFi signal’, ‘Tech Support’, and the ‘User Interface’. Let me be clear that this device does not use WiFi and it does not have it’s own local IP address to let you log into a “User Interface”. Just wanted to point this out in case you come across other reviews that have these two “features” rated that could be misleading you.I recently built a house and had it wired for Cat 6 Ethernet, with there being 1 wall port in each room. One room in particular I have a desktop PC and an Xbox that I wanted both to have a wired internet connection to which is what required the purchase of this device. It is extremely easy to set up, and with it being “unmanaged”, there was no portal I needed to sign into that would require me to mess with settings. It’s a very simple “plug-and-play” set up, you simply need to connect an incoming ethernet cable from your router/modem (in any port) and then you can now share that internet connection to 4 other wired devices – that’s all there is to it.One important note is this: if you have a modem-only device (these devices usually only have a single ethernet port on the back) then you are probably needing a router – not a switch. A router is capable of assigning your devices their own internal IP addresses via DHCP – which is important if you don’t know how to assign them yourself. It’s also what manages your NAT for situations your devices may need to use the same internet port number. While you don’t necessarily need to know what all of this means, you need to understand that a switch is not a replacement for a router. If you are a consumer (as opposed to a business) then you’re likely considering this switch to extend/add more ports than what your router has (they usually have around 4 or 5). Even the devices that are connected directly to this switch will still be getting their local IP addresses assigned from your router. The benefit of this switch over a “hub” is that it knows how to route your internet traffic to your devices. So even though it’s not responsible for assigning IP addresses to your devices, it knows how to route specific traffic to the devices that require it. It does so lightning-fast – I notice absolutely no additional latency (which is great for gaming) and no compromise in speed either. If you’re on the market for a small unmanaged switch, then this is an affordable and excellent choice… A hub, on the other hand, will route all traffic it receives to all devices that are connected to it (they do not ‘switch’ traffic to specific devices), which essentially requires to devices themselves to ignore the traffic it doesn’t want. It adds additional overhead and can potentially cause dropped packets and they just essentially add additional network congestion. I could see a hub being used for something like printers or IoT devices where latency isn’t critical, but I think it’s ultimately beneficial to just not use them at all even though they might look similar to a switch. And as I’ve said above, this device does not contain WiFi. You cannot connect this wirelessly to any device. You would be able to purchase a separate device that would connect to this to transmit a wifi signal, but this will not do it on its own.
  • So far, so good!
I’ve been using this connector several days now, and it’s working as expected. I’m using it plugged into a WiFi extender to hardwire our TV and PlayStation. This is giving us faster and more consistent connection. Even though we have fiber internet, the location it was installed in our house is not central, so we’ve had to do the extensions. And our Sony TV’s internal WiFi won’t keep a connection (a common issue for Sony TVs), and game downloads were taking too long as well as not being able to play a live game while downloading. This little box has fixed the issues. It really is just a plug-and-go item. Super easy and you don’t have to be techy to understand how it works. Keep in mind that one port will be dedicated to the WiFi box or extender, so buy the size you need accordingly. If you’ve got 6 devices to connect, you need at least 7 ports.I didn’t know what “looping” was, so after looking into it, I left that switch to “off.” It was not recommended, and warned of slowing speeds and mixing up devices. It’s working great so far. TV connection hasn’t faltered since switching to the box (and not directly into extender box). And the PlayStation downloaded a game in 5mins that, unwired, estimated 30mins! My husband was very happy. He then downloaded Cyberpunk 2077, which is a huge file. When he tried downloading it unwired, it quoted like half a day, lol. Hardwired, it took less than 1.5hrs, AND, at the same time, he was able to play a college football game that uses the network for live play. One thing to note: this did change our IP address, so when we went into Hulu after getting it connected, we got the “it looks like you’re not at home?” message. We had to “update our home location” even though we didn’t really move. You get 4 of these home changes a year, so just FYI. I’m sure Hulu is familiar with this and would work it out if you don’t have any home address changes left, but the hassle and time would be annoying.Overall, I couldn’t be more pleased. If this box stops working after a time, I’ll update my review. But for $12.50 on sale, it’s a steal. The box itself seems quality and well made. It’s got a weight to it and was packaged well. Definitely recommend.
  • Great little device plenty of flexibility for small office
Very easy to install. I plan on mounting this to the wall or inside a desk cabinet to keep it from sliding around due to its relatively small size and light weight. The web UI is cool and easy to use, but I would rather have the ability to use a serial cable or dedicated config line to streamline the process as I have done with industrial level routers and switches. But for a consumer level switch, this is honestly impressive with what you can do. The web UI simplifies the process quite a bit to make it easy to set up different network zone within your home or small office. Its metal housing promises longevity for durability. Definitely recommend this product.
  • Great, Inexpensive Network Switch
I love this switch! I’ve got two of them on my LAN, and they work amazingly well. Once you set them up you never need to worry about them again. They are simple, inexpensive, and get the job done. They are small and easy to tuck out of the way. The one in the picture on this review is tucked behind my workstation in my office. The other is in the utility closet that contains my router and modem. They allow me to take the single Ethernet port in a given room and split it out for multiple devices. I think the only downside is that it doesn’t have 2.5Gb/s ports because my router and my workstation do support 2.5Gb/s Ethernet. It is not a huge deal, though. My internet connection is only 800Mb/s, so I would only be able to utilize the extra bandwidth with devices on the LAN. It would have no benefit for my WAN connection. I would recommend these switches to anyone looking to wire their home network.

What Customers Say:

  • ⭐️ Excellent coverage and consistently strong performance
I live in a two-story home and always struggled with dead zones, especially in the rooms farthest from the router and in the backyard. Since installing this device, the WiFi now reaches the entire 2,500 sq. ft. area without any issues — and even a bit beyond that.Overall, this TP-Link is absolutely worth the investment. If you’re looking to extend your coverage, improve stability, and eliminate dead zones, this model is a great choice. I would definitely buy it again.Setup was incredibly easy. The TP-Link app walks you through every step, and I had everything up and running in under 10 minutes. I really like that the system automatically manages the best band for each device, switching between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz seamlessly. You never notice it happen, but the network stays stable at all times. The speed improvement has been significant. Before, I dealt with buffering while streaming movies or constant cutouts during video calls. Now I can have multiple devices connected — TVs, laptops, phones, and smart home gadgets — and the network doesn’t slow down. Even during peak usage hours, everything runs smoothly.Overall, this TP-Link is absolutely worth the investment. If you’re looking to extend your coverage, improve stability, and eliminate dead zones, this model is a great choice. I would definitely buy it again.
  • Solved Our WiFi Dead Zones and Covered the Whole Yard!
If you’re tired of spotty coverage, buy the TP-Link Deco X55 system. This was the easiest, most rewarding tech purchase I’ve made in years.Setup in Minutes, Not Hours: Forget complicated router menus. The Deco app makes the setup process absolutely foolproof—I had all three units powered up and fully meshed in less than 15 minutes by simply following the on-screen steps. Managing the network is just as easy right from your phone.Unbelievable Coverage (House & Yard): This is where the X55 truly shines. It provides seamless, blazing-fast Wi-Fi 6 everywhere. The signal is rock-solid across our entire home (multiple floors), and most impressively, it blankets our full half-acre property. I can stream 4K video or take a video call while walking to the back fence with zero lag or drops. It’s truly whole-home and whole-yard coverage. If you have a large area to cover, the Deco X55 is an essential upgrade that delivers on all its promises. Highly recommended!
  • Outstanding WiFi Coverage and Speed!
The TP-Link Deco X55 is exactly what I needed to eliminate dead zones in my home. Setup was quick and easy with the Deco app, and within minutes I had strong, reliable WiFi covering every corner—even outside on the patio. The speeds are fast and consistent, and I can easily stream, work, and game without interruptions.I love that each unit has 3 gigabit ports, so I can hardwire devices where needed, and the Ethernet backhaul keeps everything running smoothly. At 6,500 sq. ft. coverage, this system is a huge upgrade from my old router and range extender. Highly recommend for anyone who wants whole-home WiFi 6 performance at a great price!
  • Good router
Had to deal with a faulty unit. Assuming that is a one off issue, here is my review:It is easy to connect and range is good. The setup is straight forward and once the main unit is setup, the rest of them are super easy. The speed is also good. My internet connection is 100 mbps up and 20 mbps down and I am getting over that on wifi. So, that is awesome. The only downside is I have a Tplink router with easymesh and I found out even though it has easymesh on it, this deco is not compatible with archer series tplink router. So, that is something people should check. Just because the device has easymesh may not be compatible. Other than that, good powerful router
  • Wow. Super easy and effective upgrade for all skill levels.
Highly recommended upgrade for those looking to increase their wireless speeds with several connected devices. I thought it wouldn’t be much of an improvement over my DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem/router + Wifi extender, which appeared to be significantly throttling my bandwidth, but mesh Wifi is in fact different and more effective at extending range and providing speed consistency throughout the home. Why I purchased:I decided to try a mesh network as we were having some issues with streaming video quality, such as blurry/pixilated picture on our streaming TV, or buffering/loading on tablets or other devices playing video. A couple suspected reasons for these bandwidth issues were ethernet connected computer(s), use of a Wifi extender, and/or a Wifi security camera at the extent of the Wifi signal range that were reducing the connection quality of the other devices mentioned.Improvements after installing:One main issue I was seeing was an outdoor security camera that had a weak signal was having trouble staying connected. On my smartphone, I also had trouble staying connected to my Wifi when standing next to the camera outside. After installing this system, I have a strong signal throughout the house and near this camera, and speed tests indicate a much faster connection speed than before. There was a +50 Mbps jump in the upstairs far corner of the house. The security camera also remained connected much more reliably. I thought that it wouldn’t be possible to still get a great signal across the house, figuring there was no way connecting through a satellite would provide any kind of decent speed, but it does! My understanding is that the software for this system is able to appropriately manage consistency of connections (through all connection points), so there is in fact an advanced capability over older routers to keep speeds high regardless of distance from the main router.Setup:Installing this system took less than 10 minutes to be fully up and running – very easy plug-and-play. May take 20 or 30 minutes for someone not as savvy.. but between the app and the automatic connections between the routers, it couldn’t have been easier, and very difficult to mess up. Simply connect an ethernet cable from your modem to the main router (each of the 3 units is the same), connect the power cable, then download the app on your smartphone. In the app, after some brief setup steps (includes creating an account), the main step is to connect to the router through the on-screen prompts. From there, you can name your wireless network and password.Connecting the other 2 satellite routers:Place them within a reasonable distance from the main router (~20-30 feet/1-2 rooms away), then plug in to power. Wait ~2 minutes and done! The whole system was live and wirelessly connected through the main router. I couldn’t believe it. In my relatively square-shaped house with the main router on one far side, I was able to place the 3 routers in a triangular pattern, where both satellites are about equal distance from the main router in the middle of the house (about 20 feet each). If your router is in the middle of your home, you may want to place the satellites at either end. I believe a daisy chain (main router at one end like I have, then 2 satellites in a line across the house) is also an option for larger, more expansive homes to maximize the range. I didn’t test the daisy chain, but I’d expect diminishing speed at the far end (although one may be surprised based on my observations so far with the management of the traffic at farther distances). While at the far end of my house and running a speed test, I can’t tell that I’m not connected to my main router as the speed is still very good. The daisy chain may slightly differ, but can’t say for sure.2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz networks:Wait, you don’t need to set up 2 different networks?? The app basically eliminates all complexity over traditional router setup apps, making the setup choices totally accessible for anyone of any networking skill level. In the app, there is an option to broadcast 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz, 2.4 GHz only, or 5 GHz only. I remained on the first option as I needed support for 2.4 GHz-only devices. Otherwise, 5 GHz would be fine and preferred for everything (supports faster speeds). Apparently, the single network name/password automatically creates a dual band setup, if choosing both. Devices that connect apparently are favored to the optimal band – frankly, I don’t know the details there, but would assume 5 GHz connects first over 2.4, unless only compatible with 2.4.Refurbished vs. New:No difference here. If you want to save a little money, refurbished is a good option for you. The box came with everything in it including an ethernet cable as if it were new. As far as condition, there were a few scuffs on the units, but nothing terrible. I could almost rub off any blemishes. I’m not looking at them anyway.Overall, highly recommended for those looking to make the leap to a mesh network, or debating whether mesh is just all hype (it’s not with this system).

What Customers Say:

  • So Far So Good
My modem crashed a few months ago and Spectrum had to replace the system. I learned during that installation that I was being charged an extra $10/month for my router. Didn’t realize that for 5 years, I was only “renting” my router. Which has been an absolute waste of $600. During the initial install, I was not informed of that and I have never seen an actual paper statement for my bill breaking down my plan.My first Spectrum router was very spotty towards the back of my house (1050sq ft. house) and the new router which was supposed to be an upgrade to Wi-Fi 6, was even worse. My phone would lose connection to the new router on my front porch which is 5 feet away from my router. I initially thought that all I needed was an extender and that is how the Spectrum guy and I got on the subject because I am NOT very tech savvy. I had already been looking at the Eero router and he recommended it. I found the one that is compatible to my internet plan (400Mbps) and went for it while it was on sale. This router is very well packaged. Very pretty packaging, too.OMG!! Super super easy to install. Your grandparents could install this. The only thing that I recommend is being sure of your password which you should be able to find in your providers app (at least I can with Spectrum). If you do happen to forget one digit to your password, and you accidentally change your password, you will have to reconnect each device individually. This router was compatible with my internet plan and provider. I’m very happy with the quality, signal strength, functionality. It has been very reliable for the three days that I have had it. I have not lost signal once. Not even on my front porch. My phone is now showing that I am connected to Wi-Fi 6 when before, it kept dropping it and dropping back down to 5G. Even with the 5G, it would buffer really bad.I got this on sale and I do think that the price is competitive for how well this router performs. The app is super easy to navigate and every device that is linked to your router is located in the app. You can monitor what devices are connecting to your router.I do think that this Eero router was the upgrade to my internet plan. I would recommend saving yourself the cost to “rent” your router through your service provider and upgrading to the Eero router. This will pay for itself in 6 months now that I am not “renting” my router.
  • Five stars, no question.
I installed the Amazon eero 6 mesh WiFi extender to fix a few dead zones in my home, and it exceeded expectations. Setup took less than ten minutes using the eero app. The connection synced automatically with my existing network, and the signal strength now reaches every corner of the house, including the garage and back patio.Speed tests show consistent performance with no drops or buffering, even when streaming 4K video and running smart devices at the same time. The design is compact and blends in nicely. The app gives clear insights into connected devices, and updates run quietly in the background without me having to manage anything. If you want a dependable mesh WiFi solution that just works, the eero 6 delivers. It’s reliable, quick to install, and keeps your network running smoothly. Five stars, no question.
  • Preforms flawlessly. Easy setup
Performs flawlessly. Great signal strength. Good value for the money.
  • Good Quality and easy to install
Good quality and works fairly well. I need to unplug it and reboot every so often. Otherwise it’s a good unit and helps extend our WiFi. Iw was fairly easy to install.
  • Setup was way easier than I expected.
I needed to set this system up on my new ISP router and switch several devices over to it, from my old (still running) wifi router attached to the modem of my (soon to be disabled) DSL service. I was very hesitant about doing this, fearing I’d lose all internet access and possibly not be able to recover. I was needlessly concerned! Setting up the new Eero devices using the iPad app was so easy! Connecting to the cable modem worked after rebooting the modem. Switching all my Apple devices was a snap and the eero app makes it easy to see those devices. A bit more challenging to switch my AirPrint printer over, but once I found some general instructions online, I had it working in less than a minute. The only thing left to swap is my Windows laptop but at this point I’m pretty optimistic. I also love that eero monitors my internet speed and I can check that in the app, as well.
  • Excellent Value
Easy Setup, Good signal strength.I already have an eero router provided by the fiber internet provider I use which comes in at one extreme end of my house. The signal was weak all the way at the other end. Adding one of these extenders solved the problem.I’ve used other mesh network products and I’ll say their software is better than eero provides but it is adequate. It was easy to setup and the software shows the items on the network but it doesn’t do a good job identifying them. That is my only criticism and it is minor. The wifi now has a great signal not only inside but also out back by the pool area and into the front in the garage and for security cameras and doorbell. I now get appx 3000 sq ft coverage.
  • Awesome wifi extenders
Great quality signal strength is always Excellent size is great for shelf very easy hook up. Super stability

  • Great for my Desktop
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Fast connection and easy setup! This WiFi adapter works perfectly! Setup was super quick — just plugged it in and it connected right away. The signal is strong and stable, even in the rooms farthest from my router. My internet speed is noticeably faster now, and I haven’t had any drops or lag. Great value for the price and definitely worth it if you need to boost your connection.
  • Quick and easy addition of Wifi to any computer with a USB port.
Quick and easy addition of Wifi to any computer with a USB port. Works decent with ok range. Easy installation and no issues on a Windows computer.
  • Works great!
Super easy to use. It was plug and play. I was replacing an old one with this new one. The old one was physically damaged when moving the CPU. Works great and has a strong signal from the router that is a few rooms away. Great value.
  • Solid WiFi Boost with a Few Caveats
Solid WiFi Boost with a Few CaveatsI’ve been using the TP-Link Archer T2U Plus USB WiFi Adapter to give an older desktop some wireless capability, and overall, it does the job well. Setup was quick—plugging it in and letting Windows handle the driver worked fine for me, though TP-Link’s website offers updated drivers if needed.Performance is solid for everyday use. On the 5GHz band, speeds are noticeably faster and more stable than 2.4GHz, which is expected. Streaming video and browsing felt smooth, and I had no trouble with Zoom calls. The long, high-gain antenna makes a real difference for range—signal strength stayed strong in parts of the house where built-in laptop WiFi usually dips. That said, this isn’t the most compact option. The antenna is large and sticks out quite a bit, so it’s not ideal if you plan to move the computer around or use it with a laptop on the go. Also worth noting: while it supports Mac, it only works up through macOS Mojave (10.14), so newer Mac users are out of luck.Bottom line: A reliable and affordable way to add or upgrade WiFi on a desktop, especially if you need stronger range. Just keep in mind its bulky design and limited MacOS compatibility.
  • I bought it, plugged it into my computer, it automatically set itself up, and it works perfectly.
I bought it, plugged it into my computer, it automatically set itself up, and it works perfectly. I’m running Windows 10.The OC came with a very small USB dongle. With it I could not stay connected to our router for more than a few minutes. I would then need to unplug and replug the dongle to get it to work again. This TP-Link adapter made all my issues disappear. Since the first time I logged into our network it has always been functioning perfectly. Great price. Greater value. I love that it’s plug-play-forget.
  • Great quality for the price
Installing the drivers is easy and the directions are very simple. It feels sturdy and high quality. The connection is also great, I am replacing a smaller one that looks like a little chip, which was not working well for me.
  • Easy Setup & Super-Fast Download Speed
I purchased a refurbished desktop PC to save some money. The PC worked fine but didn’t have a wireless network card. The TP-Link USB Wi-Fi Adapter was the easy solution! It was super easy to install- just plug and play.
  • Unreliable, Frustrating, and Potentially Harmful – Avoid This USB WiFi Adapter
I purchased the TP-Link Archer T2U Plus USB WiFi adapter hoping it would solve a specific issue: my older laptop’s onboard WiFi struggles to detect my work network, even though it connects just fine at home and to public networks. Initially, this adapter seemed like the answer—but it quickly became clear I had traded one set of problems for another, much worse one.The Core Issue: Intermittent DisconnectionsThis seems to be a widespread problem among USB WiFi adapters, especially those using Realtek chipsets (which includes this one). The connection will randomly lag, drop, and completely fail to reconnect. The only fix? Yank the adapter out of the USB port and plug it back in, essentially giving it a hard reboot. Sometimes it reconnects; sometimes it doesn’t. In extreme cases, it disconnects again within seconds. This isn’t a one-off fluke—I’ve experienced it consistently, and it matches what countless others have reported. Not Just This Adapter—Likely a Realtek Chipset ProblemAfter some digging, it appears Realtek-based adapters are notorious for poor driver support, unstable performance, and strange power-related issues. Frustratingly, most affordable adapters on the market use Realtek chips, and it’s difficult to find ones that don’t—there’s no central list of alternatives, and product pages rarely specify the chipset used.Bigger Problems: USB Port Glitches and System InstabilityIt didn’t stop with network drops. One morning, I booted up my PC and realized multiple USB ports had stopped functioning. Devices like my speakers wouldn’t work when plugged into these “dead” ports—unless they were already connected when the PC powered on. Even weirder, unplugging the TP-Link adapter would instantly bring those ports back to life. Plug the adapter back in, and things might work—until the next reboot. This wasn’t isolated to my machine either. My wife’s PC experienced an even worse issue: the adapter caused power draw problems during Windows boot, leaving the M.2 SSD underpowered and triggering boot failures. Booting from Linux confirmed the adapter was acting strangely, with system utilities flagging it as a misbehaving USB device.Poor Setup Experience and Misleading InstructionsSetup was frustrating too. The adapter couldn’t even detect the specific network I bought it for, although it could see every other nearby network. It also created a TP-Link-branded network that demanded a password or security key that’s never mentioned in the instructions. The manual says to use the WPS button on your router, but guess what—Spectrum routers don’t have one. Dead end.No Real Support from TP-LinkTrying to get help from TP-Link is an exercise in futility. Their customer service is almost nonexistent, and their online resources are focused mainly on their routers and modems—not adapters. You’re far better off looking up YouTube videos and Reddit threads. Just don’t expect any kind of direct support.Bottom Line: Don’t Waste Your Time or MoneyThis product, and frankly most USB WiFi adapters using Realtek chipsets, are unreliable at best and potentially damaging at worst. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a week or two of decent performance before the headaches begin. In my case, and in my wife’s, these adapters caused serious system-level problems.I’ll be returning both units and requesting a refund through Amazon—which, thankfully, is usually pretty hassle-free. It’s sad, but I’ve come to view these devices as temporary fixes with a built-in expiration date. You might get lucky. Or, more likely, you’ll end up with a defective product that quietly disrupts your entire system.Recommendation: Avoid this adapter and any USB WiFi device using Realtek chipsets. It’s not worth the instability, power issues, or the time spent troubleshooting.

What Customers Say:

  • Clear path to higher speeds and better coverage
Upgraded from Eero 5 to support higher internet speeds. Was able to get by with fewer units to cover my house. Setup was easy and works well.
  • Setup Easier than Expected
This was literally one of the easiest things I have ever set up. I would consider myself fairly technologically intelligent. I know more than just “turn it off and turn it back on” but I am not inputting personal code or repairing computers. This took my Arris Surfboard modem/router (great modem, poor wifi) to a whole new level. I now have full, stable wifi speed all over the house and the whole set up was done in 30 minutes for the hub and 2 nodes. All my smart bulbs are happy because I kept the same 2.4ghz wifi network name and password. The unit has automatic bandsteering, sorting your wifi enabled items to the correct ghz.The only issue I ran into is that the eero setup fails to tell you to put your modem in Bridge mode (it’s very easy, you just need to your modem’s setup/IP address). In simple terms, if you don’t turn it in Bridge mode, it tries to connect to two different wifi’s with the same name. Think of it like having two friends named John and you keep shouting “John” trying to get a specific one to respond. The communication is crappy, the connection is lost and everyone is mad. So make sure you take that extra step. Other than that, I cannot wait to see how this works as I settle in and add more smart devices to my home.
  • Great coverage and stability for 2800 sq/ft, two story home
This is a solid Mesh system. Using with Xfinity Modem/router in Bridge mode. Easy to set up: follow app directions, up and working within 20min. Excellent stablity no issues.
  • Great system, but missing a key feature
I’ve been using Eero for a while and really appreciate its reliability, sleek design, and ease of setup. It’s a solid mesh system that works well for most households. However, one major feature is missing: device prioritization. In homes or offices where multiple devices compete for bandwidth—especially during video calls, gaming, or streaming—it’s essential to be able to prioritize traffic for a specific device. Competing mesh systems like Google Nest WiFi and TP-Link Deco offer this, but Eero doesn’t. There’s no way to designate a “preferred device” or apply Quality of Service (QoS) settings.I hope Amazon adds this to the Eero roadmap soon. Even a simple toggle to temporarily prioritize a device would make a big difference. If you’re considering Eero and this feature matters to you, keep it in mind.
  • Incredible Coverage and Speed for Larger Homes
This eero 7 mesh system completely eliminated dead zones in my house. Setup through the app took less than 10 minutes, and all three units synced perfectly. The Wi-Fi 7 speeds are noticeably faster — streaming and smart devices stay stable even with multiple users online. Excellent upgrade for large homes or offices.
  • Great new routers
Easy setup app works good, speeds so far are very consistent. Connected to fiber
  • Not compatible with Amazon video streaming devices.
First things first… This is an Amazon company/product advertised to work seamlessly with Amazon smart home devices. My house is loaded with Alexa/Echo/Fire devices.Bought this as an upgrade from the original Eero I have had for a few years. After upgrading my internet to gig fiber I wanted to maximize that bandwidth. I contacted Eero support to inquire about benefits and backwards compatibility with my original Eero mesh units. I was told the this upgrade would increase my coverage/speed/smart device support.I purchased this on sale and utilized the Amazon trade in option, so I saved quite a bit of money.Initial setup was done following the instruction manual and using the iPhone app. Now we get to how terrible this decision was.Compatibility with my Fire TV devices, multiple generations of Fire sticks and Fire cubes, this includes current generations. The Fire devices would only work with Amazon Video. Netflix would report unable to connect to server. YouTube MIGHT advertise a video but once launched it would buffer and then sit at a black screen for 15 minutes up to 5 hours before the video would playLet me reiterate… Amazon video worked just fine.iPad, laptops and PC’s all work as expected via browser or apps. Just the Amazon devices do not work.Reminder… Eero is an Amazon company/product and advertises full compatibility with Amazon devices and legacy Eero’s.Eero support did not even know that they were an Amazon company. After 2 hours on the phone with support I was told that they did not know what was wrong and to return it to Amazon for a replacement.Got the replacement set it up and had the same issues!!Did some research and found that this is not an isolated issue with Amazon streamers. Many posts about incompatibility and Eero not able to resolve the issue.Spent 2 more hours on the phone with support. No one acknowledged that this is a know issue, even though it is discussed on the Eero support forums. One suggested fix was to connect Streamers to the “Guest” network. At first it would stream but my “Amazon Home Theater” setups would not work because the speakers (Echo/Dot/Studio) are all on the standard network and will no longer communicate. Eventually the streaming also stopped working. One of the legacy access points would not connect unless I brought it to the base station. Then it would not support full bandwidth in the room it has been in since I initially bought it.Speaking of bandwidth… The satellites now only support 1080 streaming to my 4K devices.Support finally stated that Eero was still working on compatibility issues with “some” devices and suggested I step backwards to the last generation of Eero.Well this creates another issue. I bought this on sale and also utilized the Amazon Device trade in to get an even better deal. The suggested replacement would cost me almost $100 more. Support was unable or unwilling to even acknowledge this issue and offered no help.I have returned this and rolled back to my original setup. The exchange only took a few days with no questions asked. The return took almost a month to refund my money. As of this time I have lost the 20% trade in credit and can not get it to apply to another qualified product.
  • Fast powerful WiFi with easy setup
Super easy to set up. Scan a QR code from inside the box, get the eero app and it wslks you through setup. They can also provide support if it can’t set itself up. It’ high quality and performance.

What Customers Say:

  • Small, functional and excellent
I actually have 2 of these. One is in my computer room and allows me to plug several computers into my ethernet line at the same time and without mucking around changing cords, etc. The other one is at the cable modem input and allows me to leave my wifi router off unless I need it for something. The latter I find to be a security measure, since the wifi router is not broadcasting and can’t be compromised if it’s off. When the wifi router is on, the output goes into the Netgear router and then into the cable modem – without me having to mess around changing plugs and wires. These units are plug and play – they simplified everything and increased my security at the same time. I really like that it’s small and as far as my internet connection is concerned, I’ve seen no impact at all on speeds. I do wish that the power connector was in a different location (it’s on the side opposite the ethernet connectors) but that’s so trivial as to be unimportant. I recommend this product heartily!
  • High Quality Efficient Solution to Networking Problems
I ordered this switch because all of the network ports in one section of the office were fully occupied. It was a seamless installation and everything functioned as your would expect. I plugged in my wall connection and then was able to run 3 other devices off the same original network line. I think this is great for any home network or application where you have limited space/ports. It is a sleek unit with a solid build quality.
  • Plug and play!
Plug and play. This is the third unit I’ve purchased and I’m very pleased with the product quality and performance. Solidly built and performs quite well. Due to how my home network was hard wired, I needed to daisy chain three units throughout the house. The network speeds coming out of the third unit have a very minimal drop off, overall highly recommend the product. Quick easy set up with excellent performance.
  • Nice! Compact 4 port (out). Plug and play. Long power cord
Nice! Compact 4 port (out). Plug and play. Long power cord as well. So far, its performing perfectly fine. Will update if anything happens in the future.
  • Supercharge Your Home Network with NetGear’s Compact and Efficient Switch! ????????????

It’s like giving your home network a shot of adrenaline. In terms of performance, wired connections are in a league of their own, leaving Wi-Fi in the dust. Now, both my laptop and desktop are enjoying the fast lane of internet speeds. The whole setup process was a two-minute affair – the most time-consuming part was just making some room on my desk. The build quality is reassuring – sturdy and compact, it’s like NetGear knows we don’t need another bulky gadget hogging space. In short, if you’re looking to boost your home network without any fuss or breaking the bank, this NetGear switch is a no-brainer. • Works great and easy to use
This 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch is a must for my home network setup. Setup was truly plug-and-play — no configuration needed. I just connected my devices, powered it on, and everything worked immediately with blazing-fast speeds. All five ports deliver solid gigabit performance, and I’ve noticed zero lag or drops, even when multiple devices are streaming, downloading, or transferring large files simultaneously. The build quality is excellent — compact, sturdy, and runs quietly without generating much heat. It’s ideal for home offices, media centers, or anywhere you need to expand your wired connections without the hassle of a managed switch. If you’re looking for a simple, reliable way to boost your network capacity, this little device delivers big performance. Highly recommend!

What Customers Say:

  • Improves WiFi signal in low-coverage areas
I’ve been using this WiFi extender to improve the signal in parts of my home where the connection was previously weak. The setup was simple using my phone, and the instructions included in the box were clear and helpful. After installation, I noticed a stable improvement in the signal, especially in rooms farther from the main router. It also supports multiple connected devices without noticeable drops in speed. The compact design doesn’t take up much space, which is a nice bonus. So far, it works as expected and has helped maintain a more consistent connection throughout the house.
  • Very nice router Wi-Fi signal booster .
I was not able to connect my 2 Ring cameras and Alladin garage opener due to the Wi-Fi network signal from the new router was weak . I purchased this expander and it was very simple to connect to the Wi-Fi router. I placed it in between the garage and router . I was able to now connect all 3 effortlessly. Product was easy to connect and use. Highly recommend this signal booster for your Wi-Fi.
  • Stronger Signal, No More Dead Zones!
This WiFi extender works exactly as promised. Setup was quick and straightforward, and within minutes my home had stronger coverage in areas where the signal used to drop. The speed is stable, and streaming or video calls work without interruptions. It has a good range and keeps devices connected seamlessly. A must-have if you’re tired of slow or spotty internet in certain rooms.
  • Signal amplifier.
Since I bought this WiFi signal booster, the difference in my home’s connection has been huge. Before, I had issues with dropouts and dead zones, especially in the basement and in rooms farther from the router. Now, coverage reaches every corner without difficulty, even outdoors.I was surprised by how easy it was to set up: I was up and running in just a few minutes. The best part is that it allows you to connect many devices without any slowdowns, which is ideal for me because between phones, computers, TVs, and consoles, we usually have more than ten devices connected at the same time. The stability is very good, even with video calls and HD streaming. I think the price-performance ratio is quite reasonable, especially if you’re looking to extend coverage in large homes or apartments with multiple floors. In short, I’m very satisfied with the purchase and I recommend it without hesitation.
  • It was very easy and practical to set it up.
This Wi-Fi extender works exactly as promised.Installation was very simple, taking no more than 5 minutes, and it connected seamlessly to my existing network. The internet speed is still fast, and I haven’t had any disconnections.Very satisfied with this purchase. I 100% recommend it if you need to extend your Wi-Fi coverage without any hassle.
  • Very good sign
I bought this WiFi extender and it really exceeded my expectations. The setup was quick and very easy—just follow the instructions and it was ready in a few minutes. The internet signal improved a lot in areas where it was weak before, and now I can use my phone and computer without interruptions. The design is compact, and the antennas provide great coverage. I highly recommend it for anyone struggling with weak WiFi at home.
  • Easy setup
    Easy set up, works well
  • Easy to install and improves the signal instantly
I bought this Wi-Fi extender because in my house the signal did not reach the rooms farthest away from the router. Since I installed it, the difference has been incredible. The connection is now much more stable and no longer cuts when I watch videos or am on video calls.

What Customers Say:

  • Working great so far ????
Needed to replace the old Deco M4 which I have been using since 2018. It worked great but its aging showed especially with more devices connected to it and the large lot size of my house. It’s close to 7200 sq ft with a guest house in the backyard. With the Deco M4, the wifi signal would be decent reaching to the guest house but the signal quality would drop about half or more. And, I needed at least 4 mesh satellites to relay the wifi signal. The XE75 changed all that. With the wifi 6e technology, wifi signal is a lot better and no more traffic getting congested. The wifi signal in the guest house is getting about 70 to 80% of the full strength signal which is good considering how far away it is from the main mesh device acting as the router. Also, the tri band feature is a super addition. Having a device able to use the 6ghz band is so good. Not to mention the upgraded wifi security protocol from WPA2 to WPA3. A fore warning, some older devices may not be compatible with WPA3, so it’ll refuse to connect to the wifi even if you set the XE75 to support both WPA2/WPA3. I had one such device, an old iPad. To resolve this, I had to create a separate guest network within the XE75 app and set it to use only WPA2.Setting up the XE75 was a breeze. Took less than 15mins. It is also future proof. I’m looking to cut the cord with Spectrum (expensive and only has old cable internet) and switch to fiber internet with At&t. Unfortunately, 1GIG is the fastest offered in my area at the moment but the XE75 is more than capable to handle it.I bought the XE75 with a great deal on Prime Day for like $180 for the 3-pack. If you ever needed to upgrade your home wifi mesh, I highly recommend the XE75 if you can get it on a deal. If faster ports are important to you, I suggest looking at the XE75 Pro.
  • Excellent Mesh Network that meets my requirments
UPDATE 8-Dec-2024:In my review I mentioned the TP-Link Dual-Band BE5000 WiFi 7 Mesh Wi-Fi System (Deco BE25) was a lot more expense, and I suggested waiting until you needed WiFi 7. Well, the price is so close to the WiFi 6 I’d go with it now to help future proof! I didn’t check other vendors, and I don’t have the WiFi 7. If I had to buy today, I’d do the WiFi 7 for sure.2-Pack WiFi 6 = $220 ($110 each)2-Pack Wifi 7 = $230 ($115 each!!!!!)3-pack, WiF 6 = $330 ($110 each)3-pack WiFi 7 = $300. ($100 each!!!!!!!)UPDATE 29-Sep-2024:I’m totally satisfied. ZERO issues, works beautifully. I had this at 4-Stars to start as installation and set-up went smoothly however I wanted time for it to “bake-in” with use., now I’m at 5-Stars.There is a TP WiFi 7 model available that does cost less than other vendors, still expensive though. The WiFi 6E was $188 for the pair, WiFi 7 is $449 for a pair. That’s a big jump, and yes, from what I’ve read you’ll get higher performance. The question that needs to be asked: Do you need it for the extra price? If you can easily afford it, no reason not to.I’ve worked for 30 years as a network design/architect/consultant in the carrier industry. As described below, for my requirements the TP WiFi 6E is perfect. In 5 years, I may need to look into upgrading to a higher grade mesh. By then, prices will come down for a WiFi 7 and maybe when WiFi 8 is out that’ll be a consideration. For now, WiFi 6E works. I give routers a 5-year life span as tech improves rapidly, but do you need annual upgrades? Not in my world, yet. I’m still waiting for 5G cellular service in my rural setting yet I do get 80Mbps down/19Mbs up (Verizon), and in some places in Colorado Springs I’ve clocked 1.3Gbps on my iPhone which is insanely fast. My iPhone does provide good hotspot backup if needed. If you have a “Brady Bunch” size family, maybe the WiFi 7 would better, and you may need more than 2 routers in the mesh depending on your house, basement, patio, number of devices and floors. The nice thing about the TP mesh is adding more as needed is easy, as it should be today.GENERAL: 16-Sep-2024I needed a new WiFi mesh solution. I’ll explain why in a bit.For 99% of the users at home, basic settings should be fine. For those with bespoke setting requirements, they know what needs to be done. This isn’t a commercial grade device like from Cisco or Meraki although for small offices, I think the XE75 would be excellent.DETAILS TO CONSIDER:I’m using the TP Deca XE75 – be SURE to know this, not Deco AXE5400 as this is not a choice when registering via the app. I use just a pair in a 3,800’ slab-on-grade ranch. Each XE75 works at 2.4/5/6Ghz. There are 3 “Networks”: Router, Guest and IOT to isolate connections. Pricing was excellent at $219 for the pair + a $30 discount coupon! This is not a Base plus Extender, these are both full-function WiFi routers with the first one setup being the Main. They each have 3 UTP Gbit ports. I only needed UTP on the Main.Password, frequencies, ect settings are all transparent across the mesh network. You can click on each Wifi router in the mesh to see what is connected to each. Each SSID will have its own password. Be sure to use Upper/lower/a few numbers/a few special characters, and MAKE SURE TO JOT THEM DOWN!SSID Router and Router_6Ghz + Password you create – iPhone, laptop, printer, SAN/NASSSID Guest + Password you create: if I have visitorsSSID IOT + Password you create: all other connections like Hunter-Douglas PowerView (motorized Roman shades), TVs, 22KW Generac generator, DTV, DVD, etc that have vendor access for updates and such.SETUP:SUGGESTION: Unplug your ISP equipment before you start setting up the app. My iPhone just downloaded via my Verizon cell connection nicely. This gives your ISP equipment the 5 or more minutes to quiesce (shutdown, clear). When I connected to my ISP equipment and powered-up, I called my ISP, they saw the new device, authorized and in a few seconds I was back on-line.Download the TP App, and follow the instructions step-by-step.When setting up, each XE75 has a barcode on the bottom that needs to be scanned as you set them up – easier than typing in the code. It’s a tad fuzzy to scan, just don’t give up. I used an iPhone 13 Pro to scan and was surprised how difficult it was. Just follow the instructions at setting up the router EXACTLY (keyword=EXACTLY) as they say. The app will ask you to name it, I used Office from the choices, and I think you could do a custom name. With my ISP, I have to call and tell them a new router is being connected so they can authorize it for security. My ISP is a local company in Colorado, Kellin, that services remote areas hence microwave (plans in the next 12-18 months include going up-to 500Mbps – way more than I need), and support is seriously fantastic after more than 10 years. The UTP ports (3 on each route) support 1Gbps. The TP should work for all ISP, probably even StarLink although check first to be sure. The App set-up worked great as I followed the instructions EXACTLY as they specified.Next, I created PASSWORDS for Office, Guest and IOT networks.Next, I added the other XE75 to the mesh using the barcode reader, and boom, up it came, connected to the mesh and I named it Bedroom. On the App you’ll see: ISP icon—Office/MAIN icon—-Bedroom icon (these are my locations) plus you’ll see how many devices are connected to each with a footnote number for each. Nice.Next, I started discovery for Router – my laptop runs at 6Ghz. BTW, UTP connections go to Router only that I can tell, not Guest or IoTNext, I started discovery for IOTNo Guests yet, however, they should connect as easilyUnder “More Settings” at the lower right corner of the app, click and you’ll see Wi-Fi Setting (Main Network), then Guest Network and IoT Network. Pretty straight forward; naming Wi-Fi Setting the same as the Main Network would make better sense at least to me.In Wi-Fi and Guest Networks you have 2.4/5Ghz and 6Ghz network options. In IoT you only have 2.4/5Ghz.I turned off 6Ghz for Guest as 2.4/5Ghz will be fine plus you’ll get better distance and plenty of bandwidth performance. If I need to connect my laptop to Guest or IoT, my laptop selects the highest frequency. My iPhone 13 doesn’t do 6Ghz. When I upgrade my iPhone in a year or 2, it’ll probably have 6Ghz.PERFORMANCE:My microwave ISP is 120Mbps Up/Down, plenty for me. I don’t game or have kids. I work from home as a consultant, do WebEx/Zoom/MS Teams video calls that are excellent quality, I’ll watch an Amazon Prime movie now and then, I use DirecTV not a streaming or cable service. So far, performance has been flawless. Generac has “issues” with mesh networks – this is on them to fix as it is 2024 and it is not a $50 device, but that is for another review. (Generac works great, it’s the 2.4Ghz WiFi set-up that is archaic.) If you do have a Generac, the best way is if the remote mesh router is near the Generac, turn it off and force the Generac to connect to the Base. Then, bring the remote router(s) back on-line. This seems to fix the stupid problem. And yes, it is stupid for a $17,000 device as it should have a great WiFi solution, it doesn’t. This is a problem for Generac with all mesh networks, not just TP. I did a lot of research and found a good work-around solution Reddit. For the price and performance, I think you’ll like this device. I only have the main and 1 remote. More remotes, no idea. My video calls, streaming with Amazon Prime (Netflix should be OK, I don’t have it) and gaming should be fine (I don’t game). Another thing that will affect performance over the Internet will be your ISP’s quality. They say like 1-Gig service however, that is the max you’ll probably get. During busy times performance may degrade based on how many people they support – it gets complicated with over-subscription to bandwidth during peak hours. Clearly, more users will be on between like 6PM and Midnight than at 1PM or 3AM in a residential area: streaming movies and gaming uses a LOT of bandwidth. That 1 Gig you subscribe to is not 100% all the time. This has nothing to do with TP or a home set-up.AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT – Why TP?2.4/5/6Ghz: What’s the difference? The higher the frequency, the more data that can be transmitted. Problem is, as the frequency goes up the ability to penetrate walls drops. 2.4Ghz carries less data however it penetrates walls better than 5Ghz and 6Ghz. I won’t get all wonky. Extenders are the reason they are needed in large houses/multiple floors to penetrate hence we have mesh networks today as single WiFi devices have distance problems at higher frequencies as more data is needed like for gaming, video, streaming, phone calls, ect all at the same time.I had to replace my Netgear Orbi 850 w/1 satellite. The Base unit UTP ports stopped working which means I lost ISP access and UTP devices. My hardware warranty ended 7 weeks prior. I paid over $600 in July 2023. I contacted sales to see if I could buy a refurb’ed 850 base at a decent discount. Nope. They just said your hardware warranty has ended – I was up-front and told them that. I connected my laptop to my ISP and it came right up. They wanted to troubleshoot. Waste of time. Duh. I’ve used Netgear for over 20 years, routers, WiFi and LAN switches. I upgrade when needed. This Orbi 850 issue and how they handled it was poor. This wasn’t a $50 device. And, now I have an Orbi 850 satellite I need to sell on eBay, the base will get recycled. Will I ever buy Netgear again? Extremely unlikely. I like the LAN switches, solid, reliable, lifetime warranty on the ProSafe products however I have all the Gigabit LAN switches I need as WiFi speeds get better.I tried the eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi router, $184.00 + 20% rebate + $100 credit sending my Orbi back. Great deal. My ISP recommended eero. The set-up was a tad awkward (I wrote a review) and I got through it. Connected my devices and all. I noticed my laptop had really poor performance and disconnects. I decided to buy the eero Extender & wall mount total $95, neat set-up. Got it, however, my laptop kept going to the base router, never the Extender. The problem was the Extender only handles 2.4/5Ghz, not 6Ghz. I have no way to disable 6Ghz on my laptop, this is a deficiency and Lenovo support was no help. I called for eero support to see if a 2.4/5/6Ghz extender was available or if I could disable 6Ghz on the Base Router. No to each question. At least TP allows you to disable 6Ghz. The recommendation: buy a 2nd eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi router, and now the price ~7 days later was $249. Not having an Extender at 2.4/5/6Ghz when the base equipment does is silly given we are now seeing WiFi 7 being released (EXPENSIVE though). I sent the eero stuff back for a refund. Had the eero Extender provided 6Ghz, I would have kept it as it did work really well, 2.4/5Ghz is fine for my house, and a new laptop would have cost a LOT more.If your device doesn’t do 6Ghz, eero would be fine. However, as with all technology we’ll see upgrades with new devices in the coming years. If you have a device that can’t disable 6Ghz, you’ll have a problem. If you are still awake, I hope this helped.
  • One of the very best mesh routers you can buy
I am a techno-geek. Have degrees in electronic engineering and in computer science (networking). Have been working in the computer and telecommunications fields for the past 45 years. Way before Al Gore even invented the internet. I have a ranch style house with full basement; approximately 3,000 sq feet + 2 car attached garage. I normally have 2 routers active; main router for all ethernet connected devices as well as providing VPN connection (Linksys WRT3200ACM); which also connects to the 2nd wireless router a netgear R7000 for my normal open WIFI for non VPN traffic and guests. Both routers are in the downstairs, centered, and work good. The VPN router/WIFI covers the areas of the house for fixed/PC/Laptop that use VPN; but the netgear providing clear WIFI couldn’t cover the entire house with a usable signal; even though the R7000 is a very good high end wireless router. It covered MOST of the house, but none to the garage and very little outside front or back; and a couple of sketchy places in the house.I tried wifi extenders and even another router as an access point. Problem with those are there is no smooth transition when walking around with a cell phone, tablet, taking laptop out on the back deck, and other mobile scenarios. Great if you’re going to a spot and staying there; but extenders and AP are not good if you’re moving around. So, I went with a Mesh system; the TP-Link AXE5400 XE75. This has been awesome. Setup is easy, just follow the app instructions.I left my primary Linksys VPN router as is, and simply removed the Netgear R7000 and replaced it with the TP-Link. (Yes, double NAT is fine for 99% of traffic; IF the primary router, in my case the linksys, is set up properly to allow traffic flow to the TP-LINK to work properly). Anyway; the main TP-LINK router is where the netgear was, and I wireless connect the second slave node on the main floor. This is working great. My VPN linksys wired/wireless router still covers the 2 home offices that use the vpn; and most of the house for the other rare vpn occasions. The new TP-Link XE75, between the downstairs node and the main floor node, are covering every inch of the house, garage, back yard, and front yard. And being I gave it the SAME SSID name and password that the Netgear USED TO BE, I didn’t have to change any settings in ANY of my wifi devices. Not even security cameras, Roku, AppleTV, phones, tablets, laptops, etc… All the devices were instant connections. And when I roam around the house, yard, deck, etc… the portable devices like phones and tablets transfer from the one node to the other node seamlessly. I was considering getting a 3rd node, but after using this for the last month, there’s no reason to spend more money. This is the best setup I could have wanted. Definitely buy it if you need PORTABLE WIFI COVERAGE for phones, tablets, etc… that move around a lot.If your devices are pretty well fixed and don’t move, like streaming tv boxes, smart tv, laptop/computer in an office, etc. then learn to better position your existing wifi router for better coverage or look into using an extender. Extenders are great if you’re staying in one place; because it’s shows a different SSID than the main and your device can’t auto switch between them. But for fixed devices or scenarios where you stay put for long periods of time, extenders are great. Especially for the cost of the TP-Link. I got it on sale, but an extender is still much cheaper. But if you need the mesh technology so you can be more mobile with uninterrupted connections, then this is the mesh wifi for you.
